Worried about my potted Japanese maple on a windy terrace

Hi everyone,

I have a Japanese maple in a pot on my terrace in A Coruña, in the north of Spain. I live on the third floor and my terrace can get quite windy sometimes, especially on stormy or coastal weather days.

I’m worried the wind could damage the tree over time. The trunk is relatively thin and the canopy catches a lot of wind. I also noticed a few dry/brown leaves recently.

Do you think the tree looks healthy overall? Should I do something to protect it from the wind?

The tree gets bright light but not extreme afternoon heat.

Any advice or opinions would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Weeding help

Thought I got rid of this last year after weeding/mulching. But it came back in a month or so. Going back at it again. Pretty new to this though— any tips on what I can do to keep it at bay for longer? Pulling every piece of it gets to be real tedious.

What's digging in my garden

This hole wasn't here yesterday. This was done overnight. My soil is rock hard red clay so I grow in bins. Something is digging up my plants, digging under my bins, and are such good diggers that they can break through incredibly hard ground that I can't even dig into. Also note, whatever it is, it's meticulous about not piling up the soil right outside the hole. The majority of the soil has been moved to a pile that doesn't match the digging angle of the hole. I'm dumbfounded.
