1000-day streak challenge

1000-day streak challenge

I notched up my 1000-day daily challenge streak today (even if it seems they no longer count DC streaks in particular), so thought I would post a challenge to commemorate!

No particular theme to the rounds, besides being places I find interesting. Will add some comments below.

Here is the link. The usual DC-like conditions: 3 mins, moving, no external assistance.

[3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 33: #02 - (2 DAYS MIN)

Link to challenge 2 series 33. Congratulations to charliebobo82 and bitlympics who both take top spot in this new series (3 points, 10 yards), and to FtoT Tin0F who comes second (2 points, 12 yards). All other 25K's get 1 point. Table is updated below.

Today's has a couple of hard ones. R4 will probably look to be the scariest, though I think it's easier than it looks. I have no real way of knowing if that is the case, but I think there are enough clues there. Even so: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

This is the second of the thirty-third series based on my own GeoDetective map. No moving, no time-limit (take your time!). There is always a clue somewhere that will help you pinpoint the location, some are easier than others. Feel free to leave walkthroughs in comments or ask where the clue was if you missed it, but always use the spoiler tag so as not to >!spoil !<it for others! Official coverage only.

[3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 33: #01 - (2 DAYS MIN - NEW SERIES)

Link to challenge 1 series 33. Congratulations to Stranded on the Moon for first place (3 points, 15 yards) and to both Angoose52 and LaDecadence for second spot (2 points, 16 yards). All other 25K's get 1 point. Multiple tables updated below. Congratulations to moonradio for winning the series, making it twice in a row.

Today's is the start of a new series so I try not to make it too scary. I think R3 may be slightly harder because of the remoteness of it but it's all quite gettable. Nonetheless: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

This is the first of the thirty-third series based on my own GeoDetective map.

Above: the usual table, showing the points for the current series.

Above: the top 10 for series 32, with the points that get carried over to the separate tally.

Above: the current Top 50 over all series. Let me know here, or via private message, if you would like to see where you are in the table.

[3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 32: #12 - (2 DAYS - LAST IN SERIES)

Link to challenge 12 series 32. Congratulations to Sonny for top place (3 points, 20 yards) and to Stranded on the Moon for second (2 points, 24 yards). All other 25K's get 1 point. Table is updated below.

moonradio has technically won series 32, and can only be joined at the top by Angoose52 were he/she to fail to get a single point in the next round. What this also means is that were moonradio the only one to score either 3 or 2 points in the next round, then there is the unlikely possibility of whoever comes third will end up scoring 2 instead of 1. It's unlikely, but stranger things have happened. Either way, still plenty to fight for, since the top ten get points carried over into the separate tally. Potentially, just getting 8 points overall may be enough for this.

Today's is relatively straightforward, I think, with only really R4 requiring perhaps a little more deliberation. Nonetheless: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

This is the twelfth (and last) of the thirty-first series based on my own GeoDetective map.

[3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 32: #11 - (TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE SPECIAL - 2 DAYS)

Link to challenge 11 series 32. Congratulations to Stranded on the Moon for top spot (3 points, 15 yards) and to Ruffinnen for second place (2 points, 16 yards). All other 25K's get 1 point. Table is updated below.

Today's is all about total solar eclipses, and includes prime locations for viewing the next five eclipses that have official coverage, in order, beginning with today's total eclipse, in which I will be showing where I will be watching it from in case any of you happen to be in the local vicinity and wish to meet your mapmaker. In the "notes" section you will find further info about the eclipse in question. R5 is by far the hardest of the five (and, coincidentally, the least interesting, considering that you will only get an annular eclipse there, but in the village where you do get totality it was too difficult to pinpoint). All the same: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

moonradio guarantees at the very least co-winning this series if he/she gets three points in the next challenge. But there's lots of other points up for grabs so keep trying for them!

This is the eleventh of the thirty-first series based on my own GeoDetective map. No moving, no time-limit (take your time!). There is always a clue somewhere that will help you pinpoint the location, some are easier than others. Feel free to leave walkthroughs in comments or ask where the clue was if you missed it, but always use the spoiler tag so as not to spoil it for others! Official coverage only.

[3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 32: #10 - (2 DAYS)

Link to challenge 10 series 32. Congratulations to PhobosDeimos for top spot (3 points, 11 yards) and to moonradio for second place (2 points, 12 yards). All other 25K's get 1 point. Table is updated below.

Today's is pretty doable *I think*. Maybe R3 will be a little tougher, but it shouldn't be too hard. Nonetheless, as ever: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

This is the tenth of the thirty-first series based on my own GeoDetective map.
