Reality about habib

I don't think that habib is all sunshine and perfect uni.

List some downsides and things to know about.. anyone studying there please share something.

All this marketing, and fees so expensive that one would consider to go for LUMS instead (though habib gives more scholarships)

Most of the people don't even mention habib in top uni list as if habib is an abandoned child., but why habib students or someone affiliated with habib always brags about it. 😭

What's with this top class faculty they always come up with?

Heard they provide student exchange program, leading students to Stanford, Berkeley etc.

I don't think most students will end up there but only outperforming ones.

Son of a security guard. Got into IBA Math (100% bridge financing) AND Habib CS/CE (scholarship docs coming). Need perspective.

I never thought I'd be writing this post.

I'm the son of a security guard. We rent. Live paycheck to paycheck. I took a gap year that I thought was completely wasted — depression, no structure, no progress. I applied to Habib last year and got rejected.

This year, I applied again to both IBA and Habib.

Here's where things stand:

IBA:

  • Accepted into BS Mathematics (Fall 2026)
  • Granted 100% bridge financing for first year (tuition covered)
  • Will need to reapply for FA each year + apply to external donors (formality, but still)
  • Upfront admission fee: 125k PKR (family sacrificing to pay it)
  • Deadline to pay: May 22

Habib:

  • Accepted into CS/CE (Fall 2026)
  • Scholarship decision coming via postal mail + follow-up email (they said "fee package details" incoming)
  • Applied for HU TOPS (100% for 4 years) — don't know yet if I got it
  • Deadline: Not yet specified, but likely soon.

I know math is the foundation — linear algebra, calculus, probability, statistics. IBA's math program is exactly that. But Habib's HU TOPS (if I get it) would be 4 years of stability, no annual reapplication, no donor hunting. That peace of mind is hard to ignore.

But Habib doesn't have a standalone math program. CS/CE is great, but I worry about tools becoming outdated. Math feels "pristine" — same 30 years ago, same 30 years from now.

I also worry about the need-based nature of IBA's aid. If I start earning or my father's situation improves, IBA will reduce my aid. Habib's HU TOPS (if merit-based) wouldn't do that.

I'm leaning toward IBA because math is my heart. But the stability of a 4-year locked scholarship at Habib is very tempting.

I need perspective from people who have been through either program. How hard is the annual FA reapplication at IBA? Is Habib's CS program actually math-heavy enough for someone aiming for AI research?

Also — if Habib offers HU TOPS (100% for 4 years) — would you still choose IBA Math?

Thank you. This is the hardest decision of my life.

Got rejected.

I applied to the March series and got rejected after the interview. Although I have good marks in Matric and Fsc , but dont have good extracurricular activities. I applied for the CS major in HUTOPs. I need advice from you guys. Is it worth it to apply for Round 2, and will I be able to get a good scholarship, or should I apply next year?

Has anyone from the national board got 100% scholarship?

Ibcc equivalency urgent question

I'm an A level student and didn't do the following o level subjects: PST, URDU and ISLAMIYAT. Let's say I was accepted by IBA, can I do these 3 subjects in the first semester and then once the result comes out, get my equivalency made and submit it to the university?

Habib or LUMS?

I got into Habib for CS (with an 80% scholarship) and into LUMS for Econ, Data, and CS. I'm trying to decide which would be the better option.

Habib's liberal arts curriculum appeals to me because it wouldn't restrict me to CS alone and would also help me develop my soft skills. However, I'm not sure whether LUMS offers something similar in that regard.

On the other hand, LUMS has a stronger alumni network and a better overall reputation. My primary goal is to pursue a Master's abroad (idk I might change my mind later), and I don't have much information about Habib's international placement record.

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated :)

How to make elite ECAs carry an application with average grades? (computer engineering)

I’m applying for Computer Engineering with mid-tier O/A Level grades (A and Bs in O levels, Bs and C in As) but my extracurriculars are essentially carrying my profile. I have a couple of international accomplishments in mind sports, national-level debate awards, and have attended international camps. I’ve also founded multiple forums and societies, held major leadership roles (council and societies), and have a solid portfolio of STEM projects and community service.

How do I structure my application so that the admissions office focuses on my builder and leadership potential rather than just the transcript? I’m worried the grades might overshadow the fact that I’ve been operating at a high level elsewhere. Should I make up a portfolio on some external platform and attach it somewhere in my application? Any advice from people who got in with mid-grades and heavy ECAs would be huge, Thank you sm.

Edit: i want to get a good percentage of scholarship 😭🙏

I need advice from CS Seniors and Alumni.

My friend has been accepted in the CS program at habib and was able to secure 100% scholarship. I too have been accepted in the CS waiting for the fee package.

Both of us are concerned whether doing CS from habib is a much better option than doing it from fast karachi, Iba and nust khi.

If there are somethings you think that make habib a better choice please let me know as well.

Or if there's something that you think habib is missing that is offered by other options i'd love to hear it as well.

I would appreciate that rather than just stating your thoughts you could tell me the reasons too.

Help needed regarding ibcc equivalency

So guys I want to study in Habib university but I’m facing an issue. I did my o levels abroad and a levels in pak and because of that I didn’t do PST, Urdu and islamiyat. If I want to take admission in any uni in pak I’ll need to do those 3 subjects but that would mean taking a gap year and I’ve already taken one before. I never once studied Urdu in my life, I don’t know how to read it or write it so even if I take another gap year and do those subjects, Urdu will be extremely hard for me. What should I do?
