Now that I am starting university, I was looking to find a good laptop that could handle all the academic stuff smoothly and be a reliable companion through my 4 years of uni.

I wanted to find out what my laptop would be required to run as a CE major in HU. What programs and applications would I be dealing with in my degree and some recommendations on what budget laptops I could buy considering that.

Budget: around 2 lacs.

Is anyone here from EE? I paid my admission fee only yesterday (they extended deadline for me) and got the semester fee email today.

THEY'VE TOLD ME NOTHING ABOUT SCHEDULE OR ANYTHING AND KAL SE SEMESTER START HAI!!!

What should I even do

If any EE major has the schedule please give me a rough idea so I know when to come 🙏tnx

I wanna know the credentials and what sort of scholarships did you get for them as my friend had 4 As in As level and he got nothing my grades are meh BCC and o levels results were great otherwise i have like two-three other certificates not related to studying so thats why i wanna know the credentials of everyone here so i could get an assessment of what i have to do to get good scholarship (i failed my nust fast entry cuz of the lengthy fsc syllabus didnt apply for habib but after doing my research i will be applying in for the round 1 of admissions)

I will be starting my semester from tomorrow and would like to know suggestions from seniors (who are managing freelancing/remote work along with uni) about places to do my office work peacefully in between gaps. Also some tips will be very much appreciated. I am a CE major and know that my degree requires alot of dedicated time to it, so some tips for managing both (work and uni life) will be very much appreciated.

so basically I will be applying for Habib 2027 cycle and I wanted to know that do they give scholarships to students who are from local boards like sindh board,Punjab board etc because I have heard they mostly prefer students from alevels background?? is it true?

and do they give 100 percent scholarship because I really want scholarship between 80 to 100 percent because there is no way that I will pay that much amount, the fee is too expensive and can't afford it

also I think I might meet the criteria for hutops scholarship but the only issue is that I don't have very interesting or amazing ecas, so I'm very confused for that too!

Giki or Habib for engineering?

I am enrolled in Cs at habib in 2030 batch . Should I switch to any other uni next year , it would cost me my year or I should study here . I want to get a decent pay job( anything above 1 or till 1.5 lacs) by the end of my degree , I am willing to work hard , make projects and do my best . I just wanna know how good habib is in terms of placements , because right now your competence matters less than brand value .

I'm in my first semester at Habib doing Computer Engineering because I didnt get my first choice(Computer Science). Wanted to know if its possible to transfer to a CS major in this semester and if not then when are possible times in the future where I can transfer from CE to CS.

this is a bit complicated, but hear me out. i got into habib for computer science, attended the o week and had an amazing time. i made good friends, met amazing people and absolutely fell in love with the campus and the faculty. CS is a highly demanded degree and im confident itll pay well. ive had cs in my o and a levels but it was never my favourite subject.
now, on the other side, i applied to ivs while i had already gotten into habib. i passed the test and my interview went HORRIBLE so i had sadly given up on ivs because i was pretty sure i wouldnt get in. surprisingly, i got into ivs.. for communication design. i absolutely love art and anything to do with creating. going to art school and doing a degree in what i love is like a dream come true.
however, as i said i had lost all hope on getting into ivs, during my time at the orientation week at habib i tried my best to accept that ill be going to habib and hence fell in love with the university, which was highkey unexpected. now that ive gotten into ivs, im second guessing if i should really go there. in the time of AI, my CD degree might be at high risk. graphic designing, ui/ux; theyre all at high risk by being replaceable by AI. and i also wonder what all they can possibly teach me for FOUR years.
idk if im conveying my thoughts well, but basically the only thing that is pulling me towards ivs is that i'd rather do an art degree than a cs one. with habib, its everything else that is pulling me towards it: the campus, the university life, the faculty, socialising, the people, the opportunities etc.
i know everyone says do what u love doing and for me thats CD, but i feel like i need to be more practical and realer than that. CS is probably gonna pay me more than CD too.
also before anyone asks me why i didnt choose communication and design at habib, is because that degree at habib is more media centred, which doesnt interest me as much.
pleaseee help me out, im actually super confused and dont know what to do. habib starts in a few days and i need to pay ivs admission fee before that.

I am from cs batch 2030 . Wanted to ask how’s habib in terms of job placements in cs . Are students able to land jobs and do they offer good package . Plus how many students are easily able to do masters on funded scholarships abroad .

Hey everyone, if you applied to IBA for Accounting & Finance (or other programs) this year and missed the 8-point A-Level requirement by just 1 point (ended up with 7) because of the mess with Cambridge paper leaks and unfair grading, we need to take action.
Many of us cleared the IBA entry test and aced our interviews, proving our capability, but got screwed over by Cambridge's system failure. A 1-point drop shouldn't cost us our dream university when the entire grading scale was compromised.
We are coordinating to send formal appeal emails to IBA admissions, asking them to lower the threshold from 8 to 7 points for our affected batch. If we raise our voices together, we can create enough pressure for them to review our cases.

My O levels result does not meet the required criteria ... Will I still be considered if my A levels is fine?

Hello habib uni students

Im currently in As and have gotten my grades which wer A B B in maths chem and physics respectively.

My o level grades are A*(Maths) 6A (add maths, physics, chemistry, urdu, islamiat, pak studies) and 2B (biology, english language)

I want to apply to the electrical engineering program of habib uni but the fees and quite hefty.

Q1. I heard about the yohsin scholarship which is a 100% scholarship.I was wondering what are the requirements for you to get this scholarship. There was one page on the website which stated that if you get 3 A grades you get the scholarship, but i cant seem to find that page currently.so can anybody guide me about the requirements for the scholarship for a level students.

Q2. Also are will AS grades be taken into account or A2 grades at the time of admission, since admissions start in october and i wont have my A2 grades at that time.

Q3. Is there a SAT excemption for anything or can it help with any type of scholarship?

Hello so I got admissions in habib university in dsse my o levels were 8A and AS were 2A 1B but my A2 result is 2C 1D will they cancel my admissions cause there website says A level with average grade of C

Hello everyone 🤗, I hope you are fine and having a good time. I am a freshie.

Is attending zero week really that mandatory since I am paying fees and all that. Yesterday was the first day and the area was too hectic there were a lot of people there. O group idea is good and even their leaders were good but I don't think I am cut out for these type of things since I am an introvert. Although I can talk to people without any difficulty I don't think I am confident enough to talk infront of whole class.

The auditorium was too packed yesterday so many of us had to sit on the stairs and had to listen to a boring lecture (although topic was a reality but the lecture was boring) then an another boring lecture. I don't think I am suited for these type of things at all I might as well sit home and go to the classes on the first week. Having to go to five days is strange two or three days would have been fine.

I in all my life had never became close to any institution I have attended whether it was my college or my school. I always went there for studies and nothing else. Making friends in zero week is good but I don't think they will remain your friends for most of us since they are all from different majors and importantly many of us will make friends if we are slightly extrovert and can talk to people and plus it will not be five days to make a best friends for life.

So what's your opinion about zero week until now since from tomorrow it will be double hectic since it will be from 9-5. Will you be going the rest of days or just chilling at home

yall i alr have a laptop and phone but my ipad broke last year and i didnt think to repurchase it since i only ever used it for youtube or other socials but now that unis starting im thinking if i should get it?

if yall have one and are bringing it to uni or are alr using one in uni, what do you use it for and would you recommend?
