I’ve had singing lessons for two years and I’d generally say I’ve got quite a good male singing voice. I’d describe myself as a baritone with a “tenor lean” and a really good high falsetto - so basically the range, tone and control is there 100%

The only area where I’ve always struggled no matter how I try is harmonies. Whenever I try to sing with someone I always just end up joining them on what they’re singing be that the lead or the harmony. It’s like my ear can’t get away from just joining them.

On top of that when I try to find the note I’m not entirely sure how to find it. I understand triads and theory to “know” what it is. But finding a 3rd or 5th on the run and in practise I just can’t hear or visualise the note I should be singing?

Does anyone else know what I mean / has anyone experienced this? Would love to know anything to consider or think of to help. No matter how I try to image it in my head nothing works.

It’s probably the only area of singing which lets me down. If I could grasp this I’d by flying!
