Someone has decided to try to sell Samsung EO-IA500 earphones "calibrated" to a bunch of crappy target curves in a feeble attempt to rip me off.
The Beyerdynamic DT990 has extremely bad low-frequency performance and highly variable treble performance with pad wear. The DT990 is nowhere close to being a state of the art, high performance, headphone.
Hey guys, gals & audio pals,
I'm the creator of END Audio, and after 12 months of work we are finally opening the waitlist for our first IEM, the END-1.
The idea is pretty simple:
Instead of exhaustively tuning drivers or building exotic acoustic structures, I wanted to see how far a measurement-first approach could go in the real world.
Every END-1 is individually measured on an IEC 711 coupler, channel matched, and shipped with convolution impulse responses for several targets (Harman, JM-1, Diffuse Field, and QDC).
I know there are plenty of people who are skeptical of such an approach, and that's completely fair, there also aren't any independent reviews yet, so I don't expect anyone to take my word for how it sounds.
If you're curious though, I'd genuinely appreciate any & all feedback regarding the concept. I'm also happy to answer technical questions about the calibration process, why I chose this approach, or anything else!
If you’re interested in the project, you can join the waitlist, there is no obligation involved; this will just aid me in gauging community interest.
Just played around with some EQ and managed to match my LETSHUOER Astralis and AKG EO-IG955 almost perfectly to the same target curve. But even with identical graphs, the Astralis absolutely destroys the AKG in actual sound quality! The insane bass detail and clean top-end come down to the hardware: the Astralis uses a massive 15.5mm planar magnetic driver that has much faster transient response and lower dynamic compression than the AKG's traditional dynamic driver. It really goes to show that a frequency response graph is only half the battle, and raw driver speed makes a massive difference in texture and clarity. These are an absolute hidden gem I haven't seen many people talking about them.
You really do not want to mess with me.
I am in need of psychiatric help and evaluation.
Goodbye everyone, it has been fun (not really).
i really want planar over ears, i know the lcd5s are the best but i genuinely can't get those rn, i was looking at fiio ft5s they have some 1-2khz warble and a 10khz dip also the wraith planars but they have awful subbass the ft7s are a bit expensive for me and just really squiggly looking ill get a pair of ig955s from real deal sales and w1s this week ill get the iec711 a bit later or just get the peqdb realities when i get a job then ill start saving for a over ear headphone i was thinking of getting ft5 first then, the dca noire xos then the lcd5s later and selling my old over ear headphones after the lcd5s, im building a pc rn and am beginning college so my buget is like 400-500 for my first over ear headphone even if it's not perfect, i returned my ananda nanos after hearing what sharur said about hifiman, would really love hearing your thoughts on the compromises made for more buget planars, maybe one's that don't suck but arnt the best, tysm
If you are outside of the USA, for 150 USD sent to gonuya1@gmail.com via PayPal, I will send you a perfectly calibrated pair of AKG EO-IG955 earphones, with measurements of your left and right units, left and right channel matching EQ files, and a hand-done global EQ to the PEQdB Diamond target curve by me. 100 USD for US-based customers.
The AKG EO-IG955 with SpinFit W1 eartips fully calibrated to the PEQdB Diamond target curve are the best earphones in the world.
"Objectivists" have been taken for a ride by manufacturers into believing that using flat on-axis speakers with good directivity gets them good sound quality.
they gave me a high distortion warning. am i missing something/forgot to do a crucial step
This is actually really crazy and proof that depression can be cured with good audio.
Just stop being fat. It's not that hard.
they are way too bassy
have no lower mids
too shouty and have too much treble
they just sound like a bad v shape.
get any other 20-50$ iem and it will blow the ig955 out of the water
Hey all! I just secured a set of open box ELAC debut 5.2s for a $150 + shipping, which i understand to be a very good deal, but im having trouble tracking down the most affordable/efficient way to drive them -- also considering incorporating a turn table down the line. any thoughts??
I'd like to stay around or under $200, so i'm happy to be patient and dig through thrifts/wait for ebay and marketplace notifications. I'm mostly just looking for a solid starting point. What should i look out for? Should I get an external phono preamp, would that be friendlier to my proposed budget?
Any advice, recs welcomed for the most part, plz be kind lmao.
Not a single person who has heard real AKG EO-IG955s, with SpinFit W1 eartips, fully calibrated to the PEQdB Diamond target curve, has claimed that they are anything but the best sound reproduction equipment on the planet.
Since I only have one extra pair of real AKG EO-IG955s left, I am only willing to sell it, fully calibrated, for $500.
