I'm at a point where my ad-hoc homelab is becoming a bit unruly, and I have a rats nest of cables strewn about everywhere from two 12-port switches. I've been able to purchase a 42u rack from a closed down business for cheaper than I could find a 12 or 25u rack and since I have all of this space now, I want to start filling it and teaching myself as much as I can, so I want hardwire my house with network ports, get a proper managed switch, patch panel, firewall etc.

Where is the best place to buy hardware from? I'm not opposed to buying used items from eBay or Marketplace, but just looking for the best deals I can find where possible. It's not something I plan to complete in a weekend, or even over a single month, so I'm not in a rush. If there are specific times of year where it's best to look out for deals i'd appreciate all the advice I can get.

As for ecosystems, I'm probably most tempted by Unifi as that's what I'm familiar with from work, but I'm not opposed to alternatives.

Purchased in March 2025 so still under warranty.

I have a couple old school xeon servers I just don’t need any more. One is a supermicro x9 mb with 2x e5 2697 v2’s and 256 gb of ddr3 ram in a 4u case with a new 750 watt msi psu. The other is a single socket supermicro with another e5 2697 v2 and 128 gb of ddr3 ram in a 3u case. Love to see a new home labber get some use out of these. I spent a lot putting the together and don’t expect to get it back. But they just sit powered off, taking up space in my rack. I have some extras that could go with them. I have an extra supermicro x9 DRF-I dual socket mb also. And some extra v2 Xeons. Great proxmox boxes

Hi everyone, I’m currently helping a client look for NVIDIA GB300 / B300 / G300. We’re open to both buying and renting.

For purchase, we’re mainly looking for units that are actually in stock. The client can’t purchase directly through online websites, so I’m trying to connect with reliable suppliers or direct channels here.

It would be great if you could first provide a recent video of the actual stock. Once we confirm the model, quantity, location and price, the buyer can arrange to visit the site, inspect the units in person, and proceed with payment if everything checks out.

For rental, we’re mainly looking for GB300 / B300 for a long-term requirement, with the possibility of scaling to 96+ units later.

Title, I've got 3x4tb NAS drives, not the heaviest usage but I need to expand my storage so I plan to sell these and buy a 12TB drive to replace them with. They're Seagate Ironwolf drives (part number ST4000VNZ06). I have no idea where to sell them, but I figure this is the place to ask (mods if this isn't allowed please take it down).

Anyone interested in one? I'll sell them for £95 each, which at this time in the market I think it pretty fair? (They're selling on Amazon for £154.50 at time of writing)
