Hello, I am a part time student living in houma. Up until now I've been working diligently but due to unforeseen circumstances, I was let go after 11 months at the same place. I'm willing to work almost anywhere so long as I can take care of myself. Part time is preferable but full time is also welcome depending on the hours.

My question is, does anyone know of places actively hiring that might be a good fit?

A recall petition against Governor Jeff Landry was officially filed with the Louisiana Secretary of State's office on May 4, 2026. The effort is being led by Baton Rouge community advocate Marian Gbaiwon Hills and Katilyn P. Stepter. The stated reason: Landry's "pattern of actions and statements that undermine fair representation, misalign priorities away from community needs, and emphasize punishment over meaningful solutions."

This comes days after Landry suspended Louisiana's U.S. House primary elections, which triggered a wave of backlash across the state.

What's needed to make this happen:

Under Louisiana law, organizers have 180 days (deadline: October 31, 2026) to collect signatures from at least 20% of active registered voters. That's 500,884 valid signatures out of 2,504,416 active voters statewide. Every parish is included.

HOW TO SIGN:

This is critical: signatures must be in person and handwritten. There is no valid online link. If someone sends you a "recall link," that does not count and may be a scam.

To find signing events near you:

• Follow Marian Gbaiwon Hills on Facebook for updated locations and times
• Bring a valid photo ID or use the LA Wallet app

Organizers are continuing to announce new signing locations across the state. Check local news and their social media for updates in your parish.

Is this realistic?

Political analysts note this is a very high bar. No statewide recall effort in Louisiana history has ever succeeded in triggering a recall election. Past recall efforts against Blanco, Jindal, and Bel Edwards all failed to reach the signature threshold. But the window is open, the petition is real, and every signature counts toward putting pressure on elected officials regardless of outcome.

Important note before posting: Signing locations beyond the Geaux Create Studios address are still being announced. I'd recommend checking the organizers' Facebook page or local news (WWLTV, WBRZ, KATC) for the most current info before you go in person. Don't want anyone making a wasted trip.

We put a sign out front saying “NO PETITION SIGNINGS THIS WEEK” at Geaux Create Studios… and I’m literally watching people on the cameras read the sign and STILL walk up the stairs 😂

At this point I had to put caution tape from the entrance of the stairs all the way to the middle because the doorbell keeps ringing and people are bringing groups upstairs.

Is there a restaurant that serves caldo de res during the week? I went to La Magnolia and El Tampico and they don’t have it. I also looked at several other places online.
