For the record, I already knew it was going to be somewhere in my favorites after just the first arc, but the moment this show (And later the Novels) Became something truly special to me was the last episode of the Film Arc.

When Satoshi asks a simple question of Hotaro.

"Do you actually Believe that?"

Before we move on, while Chitanda was the initial catalyst in Oreki being roused from his Grey existence into a Rose Colored Life, I think Satoshi is an unsung Hero of taking Oreki's sudden newfound energy into a conscious constructive direction, which otherwise might have just burnt out with a fading infatuation.

In the first episode after the so-called Spider Society fake mystery, Satoshi demonstrates his role with Oreki in making sure Hotaro is honest with himself. Hotaro like many people granted with a larger share of intelligence than the common man doesn't necessarily use his reasoning skill to make himself better, but often to make excuses, justifications, and rationalizations to himself.

Its a common trap that being Intellectual doesn't always been pursuing truth, in some sense they can become more deluded than a "dumb" person, because they can more easily lie to themselves.

Something important this story taught me, is no matter how smart you think you are, honestly is more important, and the biggest thing is being honest with yourself, which intelligence can sometimes make that harder not easier to do.

However When Satoshi confront him, after he lays out the facts, he does something very wise, but that also only works after building up some years of trust.

He doesn't argue with Hotaro, he simply asks him a simple question, and he trusts Hotaro to find the answer yourself, its a question that doesn't take much wit to answer, its something any human being can ask themselves, at least any person capable of understanding the question, will immediately know the answer at the bottom of their heart.

Despite the fact, it can be one of the most painful to ask ourselves?

"Do you actually Believe that?"

Because in that moment, Hotaro in his desperate frame of mind could come up with plenty of possible excuses and justifications for why his theory is correct, as long as he had an opponent to disagree with, he could try and "debate bro" his way from admitting a mistake.

But one person he can't lie to......is himself.

A friend asking him that as opposed to a random person or an enemy also makes it hard to defend against said question. It was also asked in private rather than as a shaming tactics to win a public debate.

The Arc goes to show what's more important than intelligence is intellectual honesty, which has less to do with ability, and more to do with Character.

Admitting you made a mistake based on the limits of your ability is already a hard ask for many people, admitting you made a mistake due a projection of your own ego, especially after wearing a cloak of false humility for many years, is something else entirely.

But its necessary.

I think back on that scene a lot. And despite it not being a big gatcha moment when the truth is revealed, or a cute romcom moment, and despite at the scene Hotaro still hasn't had his big revelation, I think its one of the most important moments in the series, and one of the most important things to take away from the show.

Hyouka means an enormous amount to me, and over time I've gone from simply wanting another season to seriously thinking about whether I could spend my career becoming capable of making one myself someday.

So I finally contacted KADOKAWA.

Dear KADOKAWA Team,

This is not a media inquiry or fan mail. I am contacting you because I am trying to find the appropriate person or department at KADOKAWA who can answer a serious long-term question regarding the future and licensing possibilities of Hyouka. If this message has reached the wrong department, I would be extremely grateful if you could forward it or direct me to the appropriate person.

This is not a fan letter, and it is not simply a request for another season of Hyouka. I am writing because there is one question I have carried with me for a long time, and I genuinely don't know who else I could ask.

I have thought about sending this message many times. I know how unusual it may sound coming from a student, and I understand that the answer I hope for may be extremely difficult, or even impossible.

But if there is anyone who could tell me whether the path I am imagining exists, I believe KADOKAWA is the one place I need to ask.

I am not asking KADOKAWA to make my dream happen for me. I am asking whether I can spend the next 10, 20, or even 30 years of my life working toward it.

I am completely serious. If there is a legitimate path, I want to know what it is. If I need decades to prepare myself for that possibility, I am willing to do it.

All I am asking for right now is to be connected with someone who can tell me whether that path exists.

My name is (......), and I am a student from India.

I absolutely love Hyouka.

I don't mean that simply by saying that Hyouka is my favorite anime. It means much more to me than that. The atmosphere, the quiet mysteries, the characters, the writing, Oreki's way of seeing the world, Chitanda's curiosity, and the relationships between the characters created something that stayed with me long after I finished watching it.

Even after finishing Hyouka, I didn't feel like I had simply finished an anime. I felt like I had left a world that I still wanted to spend time in.

I keep thinking about Hyouka. I keep thinking about its characters. I keep thinking about what could happen next.

Eventually, that feeling became much bigger than simply wanting another season.

Hyouka became one of the reasons I started thinking seriously about what I want to do with my life.

I am currently learning Japanese because I want to understand Japan and Japanese culture more deeply, and because I want to eventually be able to live and work in Japan.

I am planning to move to Oita Prefecture next year for university. I want to study in Japan, build my life there, and learn everything I possibly can about Japan and its animation industry.

And when I think about my future, I keep coming back to the same dream:

Hyouka.

I want to become the kind of person who can dedicate his career to Hyouka.

I want to spend the next 10, 20, or even 30 years learning animation, filmmaking, storytelling, production, Japanese, business, and everything else necessary to eventually become capable of creating a new Hyouka season at the highest level I possibly can.

I will learn.

I will work.

I will build.

I will spend years becoming better.

I will learn animation, filmmaking, storytelling, production, Japanese, business, and everything else I need to learn.

I will build my own studio.

I will surround myself with talented people.

I will keep improving for as long as it takes.

And if the opportunity ever comes, I will be ready for it.

If it takes me 10 years, I will spend those 10 years becoming better.

If it takes 20 years, I will spend 20 years preparing.

If it takes 30 years, I am willing to spend 30 years pursuing the dream.

I want to become someone who can honestly say that I dedicated my career, my time, my education, and eventually my own studio to pursuing every legitimate possibility of making Hyouka continue.

I know I cannot control whether that dream will ever become possible.

But I can control how seriously I prepare for it.

If, many years from now, I establish a professional animation studio with the necessary experience, people, resources, and production capabilities, could there ever be a legitimate possibility of discussing a new Hyouka animated project?

Could that someday involve licensing the necessary rights?

Could rights ever potentially be acquired?

Could an independent studio ever produce a continuation through an appropriate agreement with the relevant rights holders?

Or is there another legitimate path that I simply don't know about?

I genuinely don't know the answer, and I don't want to spend the next 10, 20, or 30 years making assumptions.

I want to understand the reality now so that I can make informed decisions about my education and career.

If there is any person, department, rights holder, producer, or representative who could properly answer this question, I would be incredibly grateful if you could connect me with that person or direct me to the appropriate contact.

Even if the answer is that the possibility is extremely remote, I would still be grateful to know.

And if the answer is no, I would rather hear an honest no from someone who understands the rights situation than spend decades pursuing something that can never happen.

But if there is even a small possibility somewhere in the future, I want to know about it.

Because I am willing to work toward it.

I don't just want to watch more Hyouka.

I want to become capable of making more Hyouka.

I don't want to look back 20 or 30 years from now and wonder whether there was a path I could have followed if I had simply asked the right person at the beginning.

So I am asking now.

If there is a legitimate path, however distant, please tell me what it is.

If you are not the right person to answer, please, if possible, connect me with whoever is.

I will take the answer seriously, whatever it may be.

I don't know whether the people who worked on Hyouka could ever fully understand what the series has meant to someone thousands of kilometers away in India.

But Hyouka genuinely changed the way I think about stories, animation, Japan, and even the kind of future I want for myself.

That is why I am writing this.

And that is why I am willing to spend the years ahead trying to become capable of making this dream real through whatever legitimate path may exist.

There is something I have never really been able to put into words about what Hyouka means to me. Maybe I never will. But someday, I want to create something that makes someone else feel what I felt when I first discovered Hyouka years ago. If I can give even one person that feeling, perhaps they will understand what I have been trying to say all along.

『氷菓』を見終わったとき、単に一つのアニメを見終えたという感覚ではありませんでした。

まるで、まだずっと過ごしていたかった世界から離れてしまったように感じました。

今でも『氷菓』のことを考えます。

登場人物たちのことを考えます。

そして、その先にどんな物語があるのだろうと考えます。

やがて、「『氷菓』の続きを見たい」という気持ちは、単なるファンとしての願いを超えていきました。

『氷菓』は、私が自分の人生について真剣に考えるようになった理由の一つになりました。

私は現在、日本語を学んでいます。

日本や日本文化をもっと深く理解したいという気持ちがあり、将来は日本で生活し、働きたいと考えています。

そして、来年から大学進学のため大分県へ移住する予定です。 日本で学び、日本で生活し、日本の文化やアニメーション業界について、できる限り多くのことを学びたいと思っています。

そして、自分の将来について考えるとき、いつも心に浮かぶ夢があります。

『氷菓』です。

私はいつか、『氷菓』のために自分のキャリアを捧げられる人間になりたいと思っています。

アニメーション、映像制作、脚本、演出、プロデュース、日本語、経営など、必要なことを10年、20年、そして必要であれば30年かけて学び、いつか**『氷菓』の新しいシーズン**を最高の形で制作できる人間になりたいです。

私は学びます。

私は努力します。

私は築き上げます。

何年かかっても、自分自身を成長させ続けます。

アニメーション、映像制作、物語作り、制作、日本語、経営など、必要なことをすべて学びます。

自分自身のスタジオを作ります。

才能のある人たちと共に仕事ができる環境を作ります。

必要なだけ、何年でも成長し続けます。

そして、もしその機会がいつか訪れるなら、その時に備えて準備を続けます。

10年かかるのであれば、その10年間を自分自身が成長するために使います。

20年かかるのであれば、20年間準備し続けます。

30年かかるのであれば、30年間でもその夢を追い続ける覚悟があります。

自分のキャリア、時間、教育、そして将来作るスタジオを、『氷菓』を続けるために存在する合法的・正当な可能性を追い求めることに捧げられる人間になりたいと思っています。

将来『氷菓』を制作できるかどうかを私自身が決められないことは理解しています。

しかし、そのためにどれだけ準備するかは、自分自身で決めることができます。

もし将来、十分な経験、人材、資金、制作能力を持つアニメーションスタジオを作ることができた場合、新しい『氷菓』のアニメーション作品についてご相談できる可能性はありますでしょうか。

必要な権利のライセンスについて相談することは可能でしょうか。

将来的に権利を取得する可能性はあるのでしょうか。

独立したアニメーションスタジオが、権利者様との適切な契約のもとで『氷菓』の続きを制作する可能性はあるのでしょうか。

それとも、私がまだ知らない別の正当な方法が存在するのでしょうか。

私はその答えを知りません。

だからこそ、10年、20年、30年後のことを何も知らないまま想像だけで追い続けるのではなく、今の段階で現実的な可能性を知りたいと思っています。
