Spotify Premium price hikes compared across countries — Canada just jumped to C$13.99/month
I made an infographic comparing recent Spotify Premium price hikes across several major markets, using Premium Individual monthly pricing where available.
A few things stood out:
- India had the biggest percentage increase in this sample: ₹119 → ₹139 / +16.8%
- Australia followed with A$13.99 → A$15.99 / +14.3%
- Canada just moved from C$12.69 → C$13.99 / +10.2%
- Japan also landed around +10.2%
- France, Brazil, the U.S., and the U.K. were all below 10% in this comparison
What I found interesting is how differently “expensive” looks depending on the lens. In local currency, some increases feel small. In percentage terms, the ranking changes. And after rough USD conversion, markets like India and Brazil still look relatively lower-priced compared with North America or Western Europe.
VPN users often notice how digital services, pricing, features, and availability vary across regions. Streaming subscriptions are a clear example of how the internet can feel global, while pricing is still very local.
Curious what people think: is Spotify still worth the monthly price in your country, or are you switching to Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, local files, or something else?
