Any iPhone Air users ready for the Ultra/Fold?

I’ve been on the Air since launch date and I love the form factor, just getting tired of the battery and heating issues when FaceTiming or charging. The fold should avoid those, so it’s really just the telephoto camera that I’ll miss, but overall, I think the Ultra Fold will be worth the compromise. Anyone else here ready to move from
air to ultra?

iPhone ultra intro

how do you think Apple CEO would introduce the new foldable.

I was thinking it would look great if he comes on stage and does Steve Jobs famous - phone, iPod, Internet , repeat phone, iPod internet

So for the fold can it be - phone, iPad, Mac .repeat and then intro the iFold!

Introducing iPhone Ultra 🔥🚀

I have never been as enthusiastic about an Apple product in a long time. Next month could mark Apple’s great return to innovation and expertise, with a product that could put the foldable smartphone market under the spotlight like never before.

It is soon time to discover the biggest change in the last ten years in the Apple brand: the iPhone Ultra.

A launch that could also symbolize the return of innovation to the heart of Apple’s priorities, under the impetus of John Ternus, the new CEO of the brand.

Stylus?

Would it be possible for the upcoming foldable iPhone to have stylus support? I mean, a smaller version of the Apple Pencil, like something to distinguish it from the normal flat iPhone design

Why are people so worried about Apple’s first gen foldable?

Hi Guys- I have been an observer of this subreddit and am a prospective buyer of the Ultra or Fold.

I have seen some arguments on this subreddit and others that say the 1st gen “won’t be good” and prospective buyers should wait a year or two. I don’t really understand the concern that Apple’s first foldable will automatically have “first-gen problems.”

Maybe I am a little biased as I want a good foldable from Apple, but Apple isn’t inventing foldables from scratch and has had I am sure many years if R&D to focus on creating a good product before launching. Similar to the other iPhone models, Apple is relying on Samsung Display in reportedly supplying the folding OLED screens, and Apple has had years to study Samsung, Google etc. and see what works and what fails.

Even the rumored structure of the phone is consistent with the Z Fold 8 which is getting solid reviews. I find the argument a little short sighted that it won’t be a good product because it’s the first one Apple has made. Not saying it has been perfect but I believe Apple waited several years on releasing the highly anticipated Fold, to get things right on the hardware side and with its newly revamped IOS 27.

It’ll be Apple’s first foldable, but it’s being built on years of mature foldable tech through reliable suppliers and supply chain experience.

I think the bigger question isnt the hardware but how Apple integrates the software into the phone with IOS and how seamless the multitasking, etc., will be with the two screens.

'iPhone Ultra' Could Face Staggered Country Rollout Like Vision Pro

Hopefully because this is a phone vs a niche product, it will be easier to obtain earlier in launch than the AVP was.

iPhone Ultra Pre-Order

What is the best way to get my hands on the iPhone Ultra on release day?

I’ve never tried to buy an iPhone on release so I wondering if there’s a pre-order period online, or if I should lineup the day of release, or if buying/pre-ordering from a third party seller like BestBuy is the best way?

I’m assuming supply will be greatly reduced compared to the iPhone18 Pro and demand will exceed it so I want to ensure I get it asap.

I live in Canada.

Any tips?

Should I sell my iPad for the ultra?

I have a 12,9 inch m2 (6th gen) iPad pro with the apple keyboard and pencil.

So is it worth to sell it for the iPhone ultra (part of the ultra)

I always found it to large and I wanted to sell it for an iPad mini but then word got around about the ultra.

I have an m5 MacBook pro so everything I used it for is also on my Mac (videos etc)

I thought that I would use it as an secondary display for my Mac but yeahh it kind of sucks.

Let me know what you guys think.

MagSafe on ultra

I’ve been reading about the lack of MagSafe given the impossibly thin form factor it needs to achieve. I have an iPad mini and a 17 promax. I don’t use the telephoto lens much so for me I would appreciate a device that eliminates 2 devices.
What I’m a bit wary of is the fact I have been using the iPhone MagSafe wallet since the time they first introduced it and I feel that option will be lost.
2 devices become one but a wallet needs to be carried separately.

What do you all think?

"iPhone Ultra will be double the price of the Z Fold 8!!!!"

I'm really not understanding the people who are out here talking about the iPhone Ultra is going to be so much more expensive than the Z Fold 8. If you look at Apple and Samsung pricing over the years, the flagship tier Samsungs always outpriced the iPhone. Just look at the cost of the S Ultra vs the Pro Max. Honestly I could see Apple coming in really competitively and they love a 99 number so I wouldn't be surprised for a starting price of $1999 or $2099. I really don't see the iPhone Ultra costing $2500. That just doesn't make sense to me. It is their first foldable and they want to make a statement. It would surprise me less if they started the price at $1499 than at $2500. I'm not saying it will be priced that low, I'm just saying I don't think they would step on their own foot in that way. Every single year everyone comes out and says Apple is going to charge some crazy amount for the new phones and every single year they are priced competitively. Some years they have even lowered the price! I think we will see some really competitive pricing for the upcoming iPhone Ultra and I'm excited to see what Apple is going to bring to the table after purchasing the Z Fold 8 and absolutely loving it.

Never been this excited for a phone

I’ve been using only iPhones since the iPhone 4 and I have the 17 right now. I have always wanted to try a foldable. Saw the Z Fold 8 at Best Buy and was blown away. The Fold 8 Ultra was next to it and after comparing them, I liked the shorter/wider form factor way more. Felt better to hold with it closed, easier to type on, better for viewing content and playing games, I’m guessing feels better to have in your pocket. I was honestly tempted to buy the Fold 8 but the Ultra will be here soon enough. I plan on pre-ordering the day it’s released. Am I an Apple fanboy? Yes but just wanted to share my excitement

Do you think the iPhone Ultra will be the older brother to the iPhone air?

It kinda makes sense, as both are gonna be really thin and esim only globally (most likely). The iPhone air design would suit the iPhone ultra much better than the iPhone 17/18 Pro's.

The iPhone air costs 1000 dollars, maybe apple will increase that by 100 dollars, and then they will price the iPhone ultra as double the iPhone air, so 2200 dollars. It will also have two cameras versus the one on the iPhone air.

It just feels like the best option apple could make. If it was aluminium it wouldn't really seem like the iPhone airs older brother anymore and won't look as pretty IMO. I would love an iPhone 7 era foldable though, that would look good and also be aluminium.

However, one negative could be that if it really is like an older brother to the iPhone Air, due to leaks of production delays etc, it could release the same time as the iPhone Air 2 at the start of next year,

Then the September event will be for the watches and iPhone Pro's. That will be a very boring event though... Too boring IMO.
