I’ve been a fan of James Taylor for most of my life and finally had the opportunity to see him in person. What an incredible show! I knew going in what to expect as far as what he’d sound like vocally but for being nearly 80 he’s funny and personable and is an incredibly talented performer. This experience is like a grandfather sitting around a campfire with his guitar singing songs and telling jokes/stories about his life.
I was hoping (but not expecting) that he’d sing my favorite song of his, “Never Die Young,” and he actually did! Totally made my night.
The audience seemed to want him to play “Sweet Baby James” and that ended up being his final song for his second encore, rather than “You Can Close Your Eyes.”
Overall, an awesome show. Wouldn’t have wanted to go any other way.
A wonderful show in Hershey PA last night! I have seen James multiple times before and he is definitely struggling a bit on the vocal range and strength, so I think avoided a few more difficult songs… but he remains a humble, inspiring storyteller, and the concert did not disappoint. Extra fun to have his son Henry as a back up singer! The entire band was so talented and only helped JT shine further! The set list was given from the stage hand to a friend as we walked out.
I'm excited to be going to see James Taylor at Tanglewood for the first time! I heard people go all out for picnics. Any good suggestions on what to bring?
