trying to find other j-rock enjoyers (preferably located in the dmv or pennsylvania) 🎶

i have loved japanese media for several years now and jp music is no exception, so i want to find people in my area who also enjoy it!

a few bands i love are kessoku band, ENOZ (the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya), FLOW, southern all stars, home made kazoku, after school/hokago tea time (K-ON), THE ORAL CIGARETTES, etc (some are more rock than others lol). i like english rock, but definitely not as much as j-rock. i’m also a huuuge vocaloid fan! 💝

even if u are not in an area mentioned in the title, i’d love to hear your song/band recs! :) as much as i like rock, it can be any genre!

i am currently learning to play the electric guitar, and have loosely thought of the idea of maybe being in a band one day! if i were to ever do that, though, i’d need to find people around me who are interested in this type of music (hence this post lmao).

(i am posting this in several reddit threads for exposure! sry, i am not very familiar with posting on here lol 😅)

Song Playing All the Time in Shinjuku, Tokyo- May 2026

Hi all. I’m in Japan for a bit. There’s a song that plays often in the streets in Shinjuku (and maybe other places, not sure). I’m not sure if it’s a pop song or some kind of store’s jingle.

There’s a melodic phrase in it that sounds a lot like “For the Longest Time” by Billy Joel, and then the chorus has a really satisfying, predictable resolution.

There *might* be some kind of bells in it? Not sure. But something about the arrangement reminds me of a Christmas feeling or a graduation celebration kind of feeling.

Totally lost as far as lyrics go.

Please see vocal recording:

Thank you!

I'm in a female-fronted band from Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. We've released our first MV. Since we're sort of new, any feedback would mean the world!

The song is also available on the streaming platforms. Not many indie bands nowadays make mvs because they are costly, but I believe videos really enhance the experience when you discover amazing music or artists...
