HOOK
You beat the odds, 1 in 3 don’t make it past infancy but more than that most born like you end up either mad or dead by their own hand. You were born with the ability to channel Magick that resides within you. This doesn’t mean you know much about magic, in reality you probably know very little. All you know is when it works it works. When it doesn’t? Even at a young age you’ve learned that the danger of failing to control this power outweighs even doing it.
You don’t know about the various wars France finds itself in. Or that their string of victories is thanks to the Late King Francis I’s decision to use Magick on the battlefield. You don’t know that the King’s Small Council runs France more than the actual King does. Nor do you really understand why you have been chosen by the King’s very own Court Sorcerer to serve as his apprentice.
But you’ve just arrived at his home with others around your age, assumedly just like you. Each of you are to serve him until he declares you stable and competent. Earn a seat at the Council and defend your county when summoned – in the meantime you’ll be serving the needs of the King’s Small Council as a Courtier.

SETTING
This game is Alternate History – the goal is to adhere and honor historical limitations but actions of the PCs can always change the course of the future. That and some things will be tweaked to make for a better story, after all this is a game at the end of the day.

The main setting will be the city of Paris, France in 1550 but surrounding cities and countryside may also be explored.

GENRE / TONE / TROPES
Magical Realism, Grimdark, Alternate History, Political Intrigue, Love, Identity, Coming of Age, War, Nationalism, Inevitable Tragedy, & Existentialism.

About the GM
I’m in my late 20s, He/Him. I’m a long time GM with experience as a GM and as a Player in both combat & role play heavy systems. Systems like Burning Wheel, DnD 2e/3.5e/5e, WODv5/v20, Mutants & Masterminds – to share a few.

What I’m Looking For
I am looking for Players who are interested in Role Play, that can self motivate in session. Who don’t rely on other Players to move the narrative but also a collaborative team player. I want players over 21 who have strong media literacy & understand that people (NPCs) are complicated and neither good or bad. It’s okay to get frustrated when things go wrong but I am looking for Players that understand that their actions have consequences. That failure might happen more than successes. I want Players who can go whole sessions without rolling if need be, who can rely on their Role Play skills. Most of all I want Players who want to see their PCs be faced with challenges and grow, to create a PCs that they enjoy playing. I understand that this falls on me too, to create a dynamic and challenging world that blends your PCs backstory and challenge their ambitions.

SYSTEM
This is mostly a custom system. Its Foundation is primarily White Wolf’s Storyteller System, where D10s are used to resolve conflicts. The use of their Nine Attributes and Twenty One Key Character Traits. Abilities, Health, Willpower, and optional Advantages & Flaws. Experience will be given at the end of each session, with ways to earn additional points – these points can be spent to level up Abilities, Attributes, and even to purchase more Advantages.
There are other systems that also influenced additional content in this ‘system’ including; Burning Wheel & Pendragon.

Don’t worry though! If you’re a good fit you’ll be invited to the Discord that has all the information you should need in order to make a character & play the game. Even some lore documents if you’re that kind of person.

Important Takeaways

  • LGBTQ+ Friendly & Inclusive
  • Players must be 21+
  • Player Characters are young apprentice mages
  • Some level of commitment between games is expected via PBP
  • Session Zero is planned to be in Early September
  • Have a Character ready before Session Zero
  • Must use Forge & Discord (voice)

Looking for an English-speaking Cyberpunk RED group to practice my English (or just because it'd be funny as hell)

I'm Brazilian and I've been playing quite a bit of Cyberpunk RED recently with some friends. However, ever since I started working afternoon shifts, I'm basically only free during the late night/early morning — and NONE OF MY FRIENDS ARE AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME.

So I thought that, besides being a fun and different experience playing an RPG with people from another country, it would also be a great way to practice my English. (I actually have an idea for a character who is Brazilian and doesn't speak English very well...)

Before that becomes a concern, I can read the Cyberpunk RED rulebook completely in English, so I think I'll understand pretty much everything related to the system, as well as normal conversations in English. The only difficult part for me is still putting my thoughts into words quickly when speaking, but I think it'll be fun to try!

[FabUlt][Free][Fri 5pm PDT(GMT-7)] Seeking GM for a Fire Emblem 3H inspired Fabula Ultima game!

EDIT 3: Folks, I understand if this game ad doesn't do it for you, but there are in fact potential players & potential GMs who are interested in a table that has passion for specific ideas whilst still being flexible. If you don't want to play, that's fine, but please don't comment or use the google forms to complain, ask that we swap to paid, suggest we play GM-less, etc. That's not what this post is for. Please be respectful & kind. Ban evasion is not appreciated, either.

Pitch: (ideally, not required) A coming of age story set to the backdrop of political tensions brimming on civil war, the party as young adult students of the neutral-ground war college with aspirations of learning the arts of war, politics and stewardship. Worldbuilding a large continent, rather than a globe.

Key focuses are:

  • (ideally, not required) Well defined friends and foes with understandable motivations, goals and aspirations
  • (ideally, not required) Political drama with an air of hope for a better future, even if the present is grim.
  • (ideally, not required) The human toll of war, and a lens looking at how the actions of the ruling class impact the common people. Visible consequences for the party's actions (good or bad).

[Online][EST][18+][Other][Voice] Cleaning up the Neighborhood - a Fallout2d20 Learning One-Shot

Hey, yall! I'm recruiting for a Fallout 2d20 learning one-shot. Will hope to play it more in the future with those I play with.

No experience is needed!

Slots: 1/4

Duration: 4 hours

Voice: Discord

VTT: Foundry

Requirements: Decent Mic and a Decent PC that can handle Foundry and good quality maps.

Session Time: Thursday 6PM EST on August 27th.

Character Creation: Pregens are available, but if you wish to make your own PC, I own the Corebook, wanderers Guidebook, and Settlers Guidebook.

Situation: Password is Twister. War, War never changes. The Great Plains of America were home to some of the countries most beautiful land, and also home to the lands most dangerous of Disasters, twisters, but no matter how much they destroyed, humanity prevailed, but on the morning of October 23rd 2077, humanity was faced with destruction far beyond any natural disaster, and two hundred years later, humanity is entering an age of rebirth across the continental US. Shantytowns became proper towns dotting the landscape, and thus Eden, a town born from the remains of Lucas, Kansas, became the new bustling town of the Great Plains Wasteland. However, War, War never changes. Edens' prosperity grew the ire of those who've gone far beyond the point of no return, a group of Raiders called the Stormchasers. They ride into towns hit by radioactive twisters and plunder what remains, for Eden their presence meant one thing, disaster was coming so they sent a runner to a large town known as Lawrence in search of mercenaries. When it did, Eden was left in shambles, barely able to fight off one wave of the Stormchasers. It was then that their runner returned with you in tow. Are you too late? Or are you just in time? Has the fate of the town been changed for the better? Or for the worse? Because War. War never changes.

[Online][Other][Degenesis][EST] Looking for a GM to run a Degenesis campaign

My friend and I are looking for a GM for Degenesis. We're passionate for the world and want nothing more than to get to experience it as players. Our group is composed of two people, all of us with experience in tabletops and the game, and we're all open to learning new online tools!  Our schedules are relatively open so we're more than likely going to see what your schedule is like and work off of you.

For those that don't know: Degenesis is a very gritty and intense verse. We're not a group looking for sexual content; just putting it out there that this universe tends to lean more graphic than others.

We're also open to having more players as well, if anyone is looking to join. We're hoping to play through the game's main trilogy adventure.

Some selling points for us:
• We are adults and act like them too. Open and honest communication about what works and what doesn't is critical for all parties. We're grown, polite, and realize we're all here to have fun.

• I enjoy doing little portraits for the games. It’s fun and cute.  I beg you no AI art- that's a dealbreaker for us.

• Has to be all-inclusive. We're LGBTQ+, not welcoming of any bigotry whatsoever in our group. Degenesis can bring some WEIRD folks around, we are not those people, we genuinely like the universe- any grasping for bigotry within the story is a huge ick.

• We WANT to be there. I understand GMs sometimes get the feelings of 'my players aren't interested- I feel I put more work in than they do'. Not true! We are truly fiending to get into this setting and your efforts would be cherished. Loved, even.

• We like working with GMs. You got an idea? An idea that might not be by the book? We'd love to hear what you got!

DM me for more info, we're happy to get vetted by you or discuss details. Scheduling and various other factors are fluid too. You can also feel free to DM me about the two previous DMs that left us with insane stories to tell and share, at least that way the super weird interactions over the internet have got so we can get some laughs out of it !

Let’s Play Dungeon Crawl Classics!*

Novice Judge running DCC published modules at a Pensacola, FL residence.  From beginners to old grognards, all are welcome (Must be 18+).  Every Thursday from 7-10pm.  Very easy game to pick up.  I have all the materials needed.

Nice quiet neighborhood.  It’s a “bring your own snacks” kind of affair.  Fridge space is limited.  Hoping to land a table of 3-5 semi-regulars, but well aware that life stuff happens.

Feel free to message through here (Reddit) for any additional information.  It’s hot as heck outside, so why not spend a few hours in the cool air rolling dice and fighting monsters?   It’s surprisingly therapeutic!

Sessions starting Thursday August 27^(th)****.

*No relation to the hit book series.

[Online][OSR][LGBT+ Friendly][Weekly][EST][Friday 7:30pm][18+] Mythic Bastionland - Seeking Knights for a surreal Arthurian Medieval hexcrawl!

Hello! I am looking for some players for the ttrpg Mythic Bastionland. I've had some people who dropped out early into the campaign due to scheduling so I'm looking to fill some seats. It is a rules light modern OSR game that is heavy with flavor and atmosphere. New players are definitely welcome.

You play a company of strange Knight Errants anointed by a cast of omniscient Seers, seeking Myths throughout the land to gain glory and prestige, and chasing the ever fleeting visions of the City, a Myth that plagues the dreams of every Knight that swears the Oath.

If I have to describe the tone of the game, it's like surreal reimaginings of European folklore. If you have watched the movie "The Green Knight", it's a great example of what the game is going for. Here is a link to the map I drew for our campaign, hopefully it looks like a world worth exploring!

https://imgur.com/a/En5NelO

As a GM, this is my first long term campaign, but I have had experience running one to threeshots of various systems. Some of the favorite ones I've had the pleasure of playing are Blades in the Dark, Mothership, and Masks. As a GM, I think I'd like to create a world that  focuses on player agency, like there is always a reaction to a character's wants or needs, that the environment buckles and shifts to the choices a player makes. All in all, I think I’d just like to create a memorable story with some like minded people. In Mythic Bastionland, so far I feel like roleplay takes the forefront. Combat has been fast paced, dramatic and snappy. If this sounds like your cup of tea and you are available during the time slot above, shoot me a DM!

[online][other] SUPER HEROES Blades in the Dark game

I’m looking for players interested in trying out RealLife/Heroes, a superhero TTRPG I’ve been developing.

The basic idea: you aren’t just playing a superhero. You’re playing the person who has to live with being one.

You might be an exhausted paramedic who can suddenly move faster than a speeding car. A broke college student who can walk through walls. A wealthy executive hiding an impossible second life. A drifter who discovers they can control fire. An outsider trying to build a life in a city that only knows their masked identity.

RealLife/Heroes is inspired by superhero comics where saving the city is only half the story.
Your character has powers, but they also have Bonds, Responsibilities, Resources, injuries, personal problems, and a life outside the costume. You might spend one session stopping a supervillain from destroying downtown and the next dealing with the consequences of missing your sister’s wedding because you were busy stopping them.

The game uses a narrative, fiction-first system influenced by games like Blades in the Dark. Characters have action ratings for handling dangerous situations, superhero abilities that let them push beyond normal human limits, and downtime between crises where they recover, work on long-term projects, acquire resources, maintain relationships, and attend to their responsibilities.

Campaigns are built around escalating threats and recurring villains. The criminal you stopped in session two might escape prison months later. A trusted NPC might betray the team. A strange phenomenon in the background could slowly reveal itself as something much larger. Eventually, the heroes may discover that all of those seemingly unrelated problems were pieces of the same conspiracy.

And while your hero becomes more capable, their life becomes more complicated.

I’m looking for players who enjoy:

• Character-driven superhero stories
• Roleplaying both heroic and ordinary life
• Recurring villains and long-term story arcs
• Difficult choices and consequences
• Developing relationships with NPCs and other heroes
• Collaborative worldbuilding
• Trying a new system and giving constructive feedback

You do not need to know the system beforehand. I’ll teach everything needed to play, and part of the purpose of the campaign is seeing how the rules work at an actual table.

The tone I’m aiming for is somewhere between street-level superhero drama and big comic-book spectacle. Characters can have incredible powers, but the people underneath the masks still matter.

Scheduling:
Sessions will be held weekly, with the game taking place on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings depending on what works best for the final group. We’ll choose the day that fits everyone’s availability.

If you’re interested, comment or send me a message with:

1. Your experience with TTRPGs (none is completely fine)
2. What you enjoy most about superhero stories
3. A very rough superhero concept you’d be interested in playing
4. What days/times generally work for you

I’m especially interested in players who want to build characters together, so don’t worry about arriving with a fully developed hero.

Come save the world.

Just make sure you’re home in time for work tomorrow.

Looking for a player - one spot available (space opera/combat)

I'm running a Session 0 next week - Tuesday 18th at 6pm UK Time for four hours. One of our players has had to pull out, so I'm looking for someone to fill in the spot.

The game is a space opera setting of my own writing, using the Cypher System. It's a complete Session 0, so none of us have tried the ruleset before, so no experience is necessary, just a willingness to have fun, laugh and join in.

There will be elements of vehicle combat, ground combat, investigation and horror.

I'm based in the UK, but our players are not, so feel free to give me a shout if you fancy having a go.

The idea is that we are looking to see if this is worth pursuing into a Session 1 and beyond...

[Online][Other][18+][Wednesdays 6 PM Central] Weekly Shadowdark Dungeon Crawl Beginners Welcome

Looking for 3–4 regular players for a Wednesday-night Shadowdark dungeon crawl.

Wednesdays, 6 PM Central

2-3 hour sessions

6-10 session campaign

Dungeons ’85 voice + video

Adults only; beginners welcome

Shadowdark core rules

Each session begins at the tavern. The group chooses which rumor, dungeon, ruin, or nearby threat to pursue, heads out, and tries to make it back before the session ends.

Expect exploration, traps, monsters, treasure, resource management, factions, and adventure sites that change based on what the players do. There’s no predetermined plot. The campaign develops from player choices, and their consequences.

Roleplaying grows out of the expeditions, discoveries, NPCs, and decisions the group makes along the way.

I’m hoping for a dependable core group, although rotating characters may be part of the campaign.

If that sounds like your kind of Wednesday night, ask questions beliw or DM me with answers to these three questions:

Can you reliably play Wednesdays at 6 PM Central for 2–3 hours with voice and video?

What parts of dungeon-crawling play appeal to you most?

What makes someone a good player to share a RPG table with?

[Online] [Roll 20] [EST] [COC] [Call of Cthulhu] A Quiet Place to Live.

Hello reader, my name is Reyes but you can refer to me as sharky.

Im in need of 4 players for a call of Cthulhu game I’ll be hosting this upcoming Friday at 8:00pm est due to a number of my dnd games being canceled or postponed due to real life events. I wanted to try something new for once and call of Cthulhu seemed right up my alley since I’ve played it before and based many of my own campaigns of DnD with mechanics of [COC].

The setting is a relatively small conservative town in the mountains and forests of montana. The town is what you think of when someone says “living the American dream“ where everyone knows one another and the whole town is tightly knit, think the town from “Beneath the trees where no body sees” meets Mr.rogers neighborhood. The towns name is whispy woodland grove or better known as “whispy woods” by the local towns folk. The era will be 1976 right after the Vietnam war so about a year after the troops shipped back and the start of the decline of the hippy movement. The Vietnam war will play a big part into the towns history as a lot of young men where drafted from the town but only a handful would return alive and fewer still normal but ever since the troops returned to the town there have been a number of mysterious disappearances of people young and old but the police chalked it up to rebelliousness or hysteria from all that had been going on with how the war affected the town until a certain incident would lead the players (you the reader) into a rabbit hole where this small picturesque town isn’t as spotless as it seems.

we will be playing with modern coc rules using ink&insanity for character sheets and using discord for the call along with using roll20 as the TTV.

I do ask for a-bit of seriousness when it comes to making characters but if you guys want to do some goofy stuff such as maybe a more toned down old man henderson or even a character similar to Bonzy the clown then I’m all for it as where here to have fun and tell a story.

⚠️Important please read below⚠️

This campaign isn’t guaranteed to continue as my other games could come back at any given time but if we all have a good enough time then I’m more then willing to leave one of my dying campaigns to fully commit to it. I also must warn you I’m not the best with COC and it will be my first time running it so if you are a rule lawyer you can click off this post now. I also wish to have those above 18 years of age to participate as usually explore graphic body horror and sexual themes in my games tho no sexual acts will take place and will be cut to black.

I hope to see you in the little story I’ve written and I hope for this to become an enjoyable time for all us fellow nerds, goodbye.👋

comment below, DM me, or contact me at sharky_kingofallsharks on discord. I have 3 spots open currently.

Looking for players for an online oneshot TTRPG session set in the Buffyverse (15.08, 7 PM, CET)

For years I've been a huge Buffy fan and now, after marrying an even bigger fan, I think it would be fun to run a Buffy RPG. This is planned to be a oneshot adventure, which is to say that it's going to be finished in a single session. It's meant to be suitable for people who have never played a tabletop RPG before so everyone is welcome.

A little while ago, I did a test run of the Eden Studios Buffy RPG and unfortunately, the system wasn't that great. At least, not for me. So instead, I figured, why not run this story with another system? That quickly brought me back to the Chronicles of Darkness system that I regularly run and which has proven itself to be pretty adaptable.

The story is set in the Buffy TV universe, but not in Sunnydale and not involving the characters from the show. It's set a few years before the show takes place and is set in Shadyhill, Pennsylvania. For characters, there are several archetypes available. There is no issue with multiple people picking the same one but I do have a single request. The characters do need names after all, so it would be great if you could come up with one. All characters will also have a single benefit from the list below. That’s a small thing that makes them stand out a little more, like having a car or basic medical training. Of course, I’m also open to suggestions.

The plan is to play through Discord. I made a server there where we can do dice rolls and voice chat. If you don't have Discord, you can make an account and download it here. We will play on August 15, at 7 PM CET, which is 1 PM EST.

For those who haven't played a tabletop roleplaying game before, the concept is really simple. The players take on the role of a character in the game. They decide what this character does and dice rolls decide if it's successful. The Game Master (in this case that's me) decides what dice should be rolled and plays all the other characters and determines what happens in the world. When rolling dice, we use an online dice roller that will roll a number of ten-sided dice. That number is determined by your character's abilities. All dice that come up as an 8 or higher are a success. Often, one success will do but for harder tasks, you'll need multiple. Of course, it will be explained in greater detail in the game.

Archetypes:

Sports Jock

Queen Bee

Juvenile Delinquent

Regular Geek/Bookworm

Theatre Kid

Stoner

Benefits:

Has a car

Medical internship

Keys to the library

Police connection

Rich parents

Paranormal interest

Intro:

Into every generation a slayer is born. One of them was Stacy. A few months ago, she was a regular girl in Shadyhill High, not someone who really stood out. But then, she was called. To most people, that meant that she became weird. She barely came to school but showed up in all sorts of places at night. That, and people saw her hanging out in cemeteries a lot. The general conclusion was that she was doing drugs. And now she's dead. She was found in the mall.

Your characters knew the stories, but they also knew another side of her. All of them have been saved by Stacy. Perhaps it was from a creepy guy with oversized teeth or from a fish-faced girl who threatened to drag them off for a very long swim in the ocean. Whatever happened, they know that Stacy was a hero.

[Online][Flexible][LGBTQ+][EST][Experienced]

We’re available 7pm EST on Saturday, and can run a little earlier or later depending. Looking for only fellow 18+ tablemates!

Me and two friends are looking to join a group or possibly start our own, we have characters in mind that have more villain beats, but could work on a more standard ‘Hero’ campaign in a sort of redemption way.

Our main priority is story building, character development, and feeling apart of the world. Combat is important but we’re hoping story telling + roleplay is the main focus. Especially bonding with fellow pcs and NPCs. Twists, turns, hopelessness, and times of great wins are really what we’re’ hoping for. A hint of maybe romance or betrayal as well!

Setting wise we are hoping fantasy, along with something homebrew rather than straight from a book. Also definitely someone who uses homebrew races. Feeling up for almost any storyline!

Due to both of us being artists, we aren’t comfortable working with people who use AI, and ask you refrain from reaching out. We’re also queer inclusive so if that’s not your thing this table isn’t for you. We’re looking for a max of 4 players! Just due to bigger groups having a lot less time to speak and play.

sadly Reddit censors a ton of stuff, so if you have any questions or concerns just pm me 👋
