[Online][6:30PST][CoC] The Missing Case of Maxine Loretta

EXPERTS BROUGHT IN! UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES LEAD TO THE REOPENING OF THE MISSING CASE!

1922 - New York, USA

Oct 13th - Former Detective Robert Scarrow, current chief of the 21st precinct, has set the cold case back into motion! Suspecting the unnatural at play…

A worker was found dead in the Manhattan club during a surprise performance by Florine Kline just last month. An eerie misfortune by all means, dismissed only within a few days due to a staggering lack of evidence. Maxine Loretta is still in possession of the authorities, as brand new of experts and likely suspects are brought in for questioning…

Themes we have...

A large majority of supernatural literature is canon in this world (Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde...)

- Supernatural

- Horror

- Occultism

- Social Satire

The party

The central theme is mystery. So archetypal characters that embody the era would be appreciated: the detective, the femme fatale, the doctor, Etc...

Requirements:

- Decent mic

- The majority of us are 18-22, so we prefer someone in this age range as well.

- Someone comfortable with roleplaying; the campaign will be heavily story-driven, so that would help.

- The setting will be 1920s America, so general knowledge about the era, the dialect, and the overall aesthetic might come in handy (not a firm necessity, however.)

Time and Frequency:

Every Friday, 2-3 hours

6:30 PST

Platforms:

Alchemy & Discord for voice. We use Notion as an archive to manage characters, track the timeline, share notes, etc.

Start:

We plan on having a session 0 within the week, and if all goes well, we will either start this week or next, depending on circumstances.

[Online][Other][Tuesdays 6pm-9pm CST] Farewell to Arms REDUX

Farewell to Arms REDUX

A sequel hack of MÖRK BORG, injecting deadly trench raiding and multi-tier, grand-strategy aspects in the deadly roleplaying we all love.

Farewell to Arms REDUX is a shell-shocked, blackened war-punk RPG where trench-raiding and poison-gas are the norm. There are no heroes, only tragic endings.

I run a discord server where I run a new TTRPG every month or so. We play what I refer to as short shots (2-8 sessions). So far the games we have played are Mothership, Electric Bastionland, Tales From The Loop, Orbital Blue and now we are looking forward to running the Mork Borg spin off Farewell to Arms REDUX.

If you are looking to go to war for the Slagg in the Dying Lands. If you want to fight for HE or SHE or take arms against any of the other forces and try to survive the day, then feel free to respond to this message or send me a DM.

I am looking for 3-4 players. I expect this will run 2-4 weeks. It will run on Tuesdays from 6pm - 9pm CST. There will be a short session zero when it begins. I would liketo start on May 26th if we get enough players. If not, I will put it off til June 2nd.

Thank you for taking time to read.

[Online] [WoD] [VTM] [8pm PST] [Saturday Nights] [LGBTQ+ Friendly] [Beginners] Pretend to be Vampires? Be gay? Do crime? Join your new favorite Audhd sous chef in the Crimson Gutters of New York Citaaay?

UPDATE: My stars! I've finally been able to take a quick look at all these messages. The response has been WAY more than I could have ever expected. I wish I could scoop all of you into my bag and take everyone with me. Huge thank you to everyone that shot me a message, from the bottom of my heart. So cool. I'll be reading all these intently and should be reaching out within the next day or so here. If you don't hear from me, I hope to catch ya the next time around! 🖤

Good evening!

It's been a minute since I've lurked around the halls and corridors of LFG. My last haunt around here found me a few really lovely folks, who I'm fortunate enough to still get to play some make pretend with today.

We've hopped a couple of systems together, and traded the Game master's chair a few times. Being a player has offered me a lot. But, in recent weeks it has also made me pretty itchy too. Also shout out to having my hours cut, that has given me extra free time…

So I figured why not try to fill the void with some creativity instead of more existential dread. Or at the very least give myself, and hopefully you too a weekly distraction from a little bit of it. Maybe make some new friends while slaloming through the horrors along the way?

Okay! So! A little bit about me before I get on to the good stuff. I'm Alex, some friends call me Spooky. I'm a 30-something (He/They) working in the restaurant industry somewheres in the PNW.  Anxious, silly, weird. I dig movies, music, comics and of course TTRPGS. As a GM I focus on narrative and vibes. Character and story are my favorite. I do think rules are important, don't get me wrong. I just think there are many such cases where they can be bent or occasionally pushed gently into a corner for a moment so the story can breathe.

If you're still with me after all the rambling. Lets talk about what you're actually here for!

What are we playing?

Like the tags suggest, Vampire: The Masquerade! (V5) I've wanted to run a proper chronicle for so long now, and never really found the right group or enough gumption to branch into such a different system (Back when I was running only dnd as a wee-baby gm.) No better time than the now! My plan is to use The Crimson Gutter chronicle book as a jumping off point for our stories.

When and where?

Saturday Nights 8pm PST! I like to run 3-4 hour sessions, but I am flexible depending on what we like best. We'll use Discord for voice and Foundry for keeping character sheets, rolling dice, and sweet-sweet ambience.

The setting

Well of course the year has gotta be 2004!

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2, The Lord Of The Rings reigning over the Oscars, Ugg boots, graphic tees, Razr flip-phones, spikey hair, low-rise jeans, and layers; so many layers. Usher's 'Yeah' is virtually inescapable. Nu Metal hasn't fully died yet. MySpace is the social hub of the internet…. I could go on forever, really.

The backdrop of our stories will be New York City.

Tone

I like to lean into the drama that the gothic punk genre and the like offers. It's impossible for the silliness to not break through. Just based on my nature. And also the WoD being utterly silly itself. I want to aim for a happy balance. Where the serious and dire moments are given their weight. And the slapstick (for the lack of a better term) can lift us for a moment or two.

Content warnings

Vampire is a game that deals with a lot of sensitive subject matter. We're playing monsters after all. Body horror, personal horror, political horror, gas lighting to the nth degree; are all common themes that tend to pop up among many others. Of course specific lines and veils will be discussed together in our session 0. I want our table to be comfortable and safe for everyone. This is just a general warning up front.

Who am I looking for?

3-4 18+ folks who dig roleplaying, and enjoy a focus on narrative and character development. Who are comfortable with embracing the grime, horror and ugliness of WoD. Hoping to find folks who are preferably new to the system, so we can all jump in together around the same level of experience. Obviously if you do have games under your belt you're welcome too! Just gotta put up with a novice behind the Storyteller's screen. If you're socially anxious, a silly goose, or maybe somewhere on the ADHD/ASD spectrums (or all of the above? Like me) you may get some bonus points haha. Really though. Just looking for a few cool people to hang out and tell some stories together.

If you're still here after all the reading, and you're keen on possibly joining me at the table. Feel free to drop me a message here on reddit including:

  • Your preferred name & pronouns
  • Your Age
  • A little about yourself
  • Your experience level with TTRPGS & VTM
  • Any hard lines and veils you may have
  • Your discord handle

Along with anything else you think is important. (Favorite cryptid? The Best Sandwich you've ever had? All-time movie or album?)

If selected, I'll reach out to you via discord!

I'll leave this post open for a few days, and mark it closed if, and when the player spots have been filled. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and potentially apply! Hopefully chat with you soon!

[online] [other] collecting the gays and the transes for a system tbd rpg group (weeknights tbd)

hello

I'm an inexperienced DM and I've got the itch to DM again. does the following predicament sound familiar: "I want to play rpgs but can't find a group of people who are cool and fun!" it does to me. so i'm making my own group from scratch of gay and/or trans people who want to have a good time and are really flexible on what exactly we play.

im looking for this to be a long term group and we probably wouldn't have more than a session zero and some preliminary meetings before like mid june because i am very busy with some irl stuff but i want to start looking for people early because it's very hard. so please only apply if you have monk-like patience.

but basically i have no idea what we will play or anything because thats far less important than finding cool people to play with. we can figure that out together later :))

details:

time: a weeknight, not wednesday, time tbd but the evening because I have irl stuff to do. would probably not really get into the swing of things until mid-june at which point i'd love to do weekly games

system: tbd, see above. i would personally like to run something sci-fi. there are a list of games i'd like to play in the google form below

if you're interested, click me!!

edit: really interested in burning wheel but leaning towards delta green because i have a lot of material for that already

Dragonbane RPG Offline [Other]

Low Fantasy Christized RPG Group

18+ Low fantasy medieval world.

Step into The Eternal Balance, a grounded dark fantasy world where your choices actually matter. Inspired by gritty worlds like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and The Lord of the Rings, this is a story-driven RPG focused on consequence, tension, survival, faith, corruption, and redemption.

No guaranteed heroes. No plot armor. The world reacts to what you do. Kingdoms fracture, people remember your actions, and even small decisions can echo across the land like cracks through stained glass. ⚔️🔥

Expect grounded roleplay, dangerous combat, moral pressure, political intrigue, desperate journeys, and a world where light still exists… but it has to fight to survive.

my world is more low fantasy focused & has lots of Christian themes built in hard wired. Dm if interested.

If you're cool & cool with this sort of stuff then we can become friends.

[Online][EST] Looking for players to learn Stonetop together

I got Stonetop after Quinn’s Quest review and having been going over it since. If you’re unfamiliar with it, great I was and really still am as well, but it’s Pbta style mechanics in a low magic Iron Age setting. It’s very interesting with so much lore and detail. I’m looking for 4 players to learn to GM this game. Mistakes will be made haha. I’m a fairly new GM in general but I think it will be fun. Quick disclaimer though Stonetop is designed for long campaigns, so I am looking for a potential long term group. EST time zone, Saturdays or Sundays in the evenings.

Wednesdays West Marches with a twist anyone?

Hi, I’m starting an online West Marches game on Wednesday, May 20th, running on Tabletop Simulator. I have some slots filled but the more the merrier.

The main twist: Players build the unexplored parts of the map through play. After completing a session, the group gets to place new hexes onto the campaign map:

  • Easy session: place 1 hex
  • Medium session: place 2 hexes
  • Hard session: place 3 hexes

Those hexes aren't just terrain, there is some world-building too. They become part of the world going forward. The gist is that exploration does not just reveal the "map", rather it helps create it.

The game is paid, run online, and built for drop-in / drop-out West Marches play. I'm running two time zones - a GMT 5pm slot and a US Pacific 5pm time slot. There are a few more details and table rules, but that's the basics.

Reply here or DM me with questions!
