Cannot find FL22 coolant in Europe for a 2010 Mazda2

I can't find any store selling FL22 coolant. I can only find G11 and G12. Am I doing something wrong?

is worth buying?

I was looking at Facebook marketplace to find a car before heading back to school in September and stumbled across a Mazda 2 2012 hatchback for $2800. Since I am a broke college student in need of a new car, $3500 was kind of my limit right now and it seemed perfect. It has 224k miles but they said they regularly flushed the transmission and changed the oil along with new set of front and rear breaks. I don’t see a lot of rust if any so ideally this car seems fine the only thing that bugs me is the miles since I am not familiar with the life expectancy of these cars.

She rises like a Phoenix from the grave again!!

I'm going to try to keep this short, but it is a long story none the less. I know you all have seen the pictures of my wife's little Mazda 2 as we have gone through its transformation from a dealership's scrap metal back to working, she frequents this sub and posts the pictures of her baby. Well she hit a deer on the 1st, insurance totaled her out and we opted to keep her with a limited payout, the damage was secluded to the front of the hood and passenger side fender with it completely taking out the radiator, condenser and radiator support along with the body panels and headlights. After 4 days we have finished assembling her with new parts and a full burping of the cooling system. She lives again! We will drive this car until the wheels fall off, and then I'll find a way to get them back on to keep driving her. By far one of the few cars I can say I'm happy to work on as a mechanic and will continue to keep her alive as long as mechanically possible!

Removing (& preventing) limescale?

Recently I got myself a really good deal on a 2015 Mazda 2.

I love the car, the only thing is there's what seems to be limescale underneath both of the side mirrors.

Is this a common problem? Any advice on how I could remove this, and preferably prevent this, without ruining the paint?

Mazda 2. Fallo sistema motor

Weird chirping/ pinging noise

Hey all, I have a 2011 Mazda 2 with 138xxx miles on it. Around a 100 miles ago I noticed this weird chirping/ ringing noise coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. In the video I added with this post you can somewhat hear it. It’s hard to get a good video of it because it only happens when the engine is warmed up and accelerating. It happens in every gear when accelerating but not idling. If it’s engine breaking it doesn’t make the noise. Any advice or idea of why this may be happening?
Sound comes from near firewall (ish) passenger side of engine bay.

Work done to car:
Upper motor mount replaced (100,000 miles)
Lower polyurethane dog bone motor mount (100,000 miles)
Don’t know when serpentine belt has been changed but probably at 75,000 miles.

Thanks!

Edit: you can hear the sound at 3 seconds and at 8 seconds.

Have you ever painted your own Mazda?

Had a bit of an accident with a pillar in a car park and ended up with these scratches on the back panel.
Been getting a few quotes around and so far the prices have ranged from £150-£250 to £550. The most expensive one said he’d have to both panels to “blend in the colour”.
I’m no expert but sounds like he’s trying to rip me off. Anyway, I’m thinking of maybe just doing it myself. Has anyone tried this and was it worth it?

Oil for the Mazda 2 1.5MZR (2010)

My Mazda 2010 Mazda 2 with the 1.5 MZR Engine (76kw/103hp) is at 170.000km (~105.000 miles), so its due for an Oil Change, what Oil would you guys recommend? The car is being used for City driving and on the Highways equally, since I live in Germany it gets pushed to the limits on the Autobahn quite frequently and I also let it rip on some Backroads every once in a while. And whilst I‘m at it, it‘s my first Oil change with this Car and I‘m doing it myself, are there any surprises I should be prepared for? Appreciate the Help!

Old Mazda 2 advice

I'm going to look at a Mazda 2 next week.

16 years old 88k on the clock, MOTs look good for the past 6 years or so. Anything I should look for? I'm in the UK.

Thank you.

MAZDA 2 (2009 203.000 km)

Someone could advise me about a 2009 Mazda 2. Recently I did a test drive of this car and I was amazed. I’m not an expert in engines, but everything seemed more than fine to me. The price is very low, but it has quite a lot of kilometers, so I’m a bit undecided because I don’t know how long an engine like this can last. Can it reach 300,000 km or more?
Does anyone here own one and has driven it beyond that?

What also gives me a lot of confidence is the fact that it has a timing chain rather than a timing belt in the engine.

I’m attaching a few photos of the engine, I’ve never seen such a clean engine before on a 2009’s car. Here are the specifications:
MAZDA 2, 1.3 PETROL 5 DOORS
1 OWNER FIRST REGISTERED 12/2009
55 KW 75 HP
CAR RADIO
AIR CONDITIONING
203,000 KM

Interior and exterior, apart from a few small signs of age, are perfect.

Thanks :)

Took me 6 1/2 months to break my record of 0-60 of 9.37sec. Then I broke 9.08sec on the first attempt. 8.89sec is pretty damn good for an automatic

What does this do?

Greasing the slide pins on the callipers and noticed this bit bolted onto the strut. It's not connected anywhere other than the bolt onto the strut. Seems to be metal with a rubber-ish lump attached to it but can't work out what it would be for.

Is only on the passenger side.

Car colour?

My mother bought this car many years (about 10 years) imported from japan in this colour. Its a 2007. First year of the new bodystyle.

I was thinking emergency service but the black is starting to come off the steering wheel and its same green as the body.

Clearcoats starting to peel now and i was wanting to repaint it but would help if i knew what the colour was or the colour code.

Workaround for Mazda's alphabetical MP3 sorting

UPDATE: I added some instructions to README.md for installation and usage on Windows 11 (WSL2) and MacOS.
---

Apparently this has been a Mazda thing for years and across multiple models:

When playing MP3s from USB, the infotainment system sorts tracks alphabetically by the ID3 title instead of using the actual track order.

Which is... an interesting design decision.

So even an album with perfectly correct metadata and filenames like:

01 - In the Air Tonight.mp3
TRACK=1/12
TITLE=In the Air Tonight

will still be played according to the alphabetical order of the title.

The track number in the ID3 metadata is ignored. The track number in the filename is ignored as well.

I recently ran into this with the Mazda 6e, googled it and found people complaining about basically the same problem for years (not only Mazda).

So I got annoyed enough by it that I used Codex to build a small Linux command line tool:

https://github.com/badmin-c/mp3trackprefix

mp3trackprefix recursively scans your music folders and prefixes the ID3 TITLE with the existing track number:

In the Air Tonight01 In the Air Tonight

The actual TRACK tag stays untouched. Filenames, artist, album, disc number, cover art and all other metadata are left alone.

I deliberately made it fairly paranoid before it touches anything. Each folder is treated as an album and the complete folder is validated first. If track numbers are missing, duplicated or conflicting between tags and filenames, the whole folder is skipped instead of trying to be clever and potentially messing up the files.

There's also:

mp3trackprefix --dry-run /path/to/music

which shows exactly what it would change without writing anything.

It uses ffmpeg/ffprobe and remuxes the MP3 without re-encoding the audio.

I made this specifically because of the Mazda 6e, but since this apparently affects a lot of different models and brands, maybe it's useful for someone else as well.

As always: use it at your own risk. It modifies your MP3 files, so keep a backup. I take no responsibility if it eats your music collection, kills your USB stick or somehow sets your Mazda on fire. You know the drill

After many many attempts I finally beat my 0-60 record

I didn’t think I would since I kept getting around 9.6 for majority of the attempts but I managed to shave off .31 seconds. 2011 automatic
