Jonas Tintenseher: A Person for Every Occasion | Interview - Goblin Points

I'm finally joined by Jonas Tintenseher. They've recently published a shadow subclass, is currently working on an epic adventure for Triglav, and you can find traces of Jonas' work all over the third party supplements being published for Draw Steel. And I ask what makes Draw Steel so nice to design for.

Hearth & Steel - Strongholds for Draw Steel

Hey everyone,

I just released my first supplement: Hearth & Steel; a system for building and upgrading a shared party stronghold in Draw Steel.

The goal was to create something that feels like a natural extension of the core rules rather than a bolted-on minigame. It rewards your group for having a recurring home base without adding heavy bookkeeping.

What's in it (preview available on site):

-Shared stronghold that grows from Tier 1 to Tier 4

-Point-buy benefits (similar to Ancestry creation)

-Infrastructure (passive bonuses) + Preparation (active bonuses benefitting you while adventuring)

-Leans heavily into Draw Steel's downtime mechanics

If your group likes returning to a home base that grows with your heroes, this might be for you.

Any feedback is very welcome. Hope you enjoy it!

Titancraft Human Rogues

Still loving Titancraft. Being able to print as many STLs as I want with the assets I bought is such a boon especially for Draw Steel's minions. Designed 7 (cuz I printed two of one sculpt) human rogues for an upcoming Delian Tomb session and I think they look fn great.

Editable Character Sheet for Digital Games + Inventory Cards & Starting Traits

I'm excited to play Crows soon, especially because one of my players got so excited reading the playtest packet that he decided he's going to run it for our group. This gave me a break from my normal game master duties and so I decided to try and streamline character creation as much as possible for my virtual group (especially since we may go through multiple characters in a night).

This started with the idea of making an editable character sheet, but then I realized it'd be nice to be able to snap in the starting perks too... and then I thought about how nice it would be to be able to do the same thing with the inventory cards...

Long story short, these documents now exist:

Hopefully these help you with your playtests as well!

Moving our Draw Steel game to a JRPG setting

I really like the Draw Steel mechanics. And also I don't think it's good sportsmanship to murder hordes of goblins and other communities of weak creatures.

So we're moving our game to a self-aware JRPG. Because verisimilitude to me means "real place TTRPG" minion slaughter is unethical, but "video game setting" is okay because they can all be demons or icky spiders and it doesn't have to make sense or be ecologically sound.

Whatever, I'm excited about it! I think I needed the tone to be drastically different from my Shadowdark and 5e games for the big hero energy to work.

Has anyone else had a similar reaction to minion hordes? Or making an over the top setting?

Looking for a video where Matt mentions a WotC survey about campaign settings

In one of his videos, I remember Matt mentioning a survey Wizards of the Coast ran (back in the 90s or 2000s?), and they asked about existing franchisees and stories, like Star Wars or Dune - and they asked players if they would rather play original characters or existing characters from that setting. Does anybody remember what video he mentioned that in?

EDIT: Found it! It’s “The Politics of Peace.”

Where Evil Lives - Shadowkeep Map Appearance

Hey everybody, long time MCDM and Matt fan, second time poster.

It's another "Where Evil Lives" question, this time way simpler.
I have the book and the digital material that comes with it. I was preparing Shadowkeep, but while looking at the maps that we were given, I noticed a stark difference between the map showed in the book (both in printed and pdf version) and the one that was given with other maps in the digital material.
The differences are mainly aesthetic ones, it is clearly still Shadowkeep, same number of rooms, same architecture, shapes etc. But almost all the colors and some of the main details got changed. It surprised me because until now, all the maps we got were exactly the same as the ones in the book!

I am just so curious as to why. Does anyone have any information about this?

Thank you in advance, peace, out!
