1. The shitter situation is fucked

Building has 4 toilets for 1,500 detainees + 1,000 staff.

Town says they’d need 15x the sewage capacity or Lake Musconetcong gets raw sewage.

2. They’re fuckin’ with our drinking water

Warehouse sits near Lake Hopatcong + Lake Musconetcong.

Sewage overflows = contaminated water. That system supplies 70% of NJ’s drinking water.

Feds skipped the environmental review.

3. The whole process was fucked from the start

ICE/DHS bought it from Goldman Sachs for $130M in February.

Didn’t tell the town. Didn’t tell the state.

Roxbury found out from a Washington Post article.

4. It fucks the town’s budget

If feds own it, Roxbury loses $85M in tax revenue over 30 years.

That’s money for schools, cops, firefighters — gone.

All to warehouse humans in a building made for Amazon packages.

What’s one business/store/restaurant/service you genuinely think Parsippany is missing right now?

I’m slowly moving out of my apartment. I have unopened and unused shower curtains, bath mats, clothing, among other things. Most new with tags, brand new Adidas sneakers, lightly worn women’s clothing. Brand new and never used body products as well.

I’m looking to donate everything, nothing is for sale but if anyone is in need, please lmk.

honest question, is everyone in morris county just collectively going through it right now? lol. i’ve been trying to find someone for my depression but every office i call in morristown or randolph either doesn't take insurance or has a waitlist longer than the line at the rockaway mall during christmas. i finally found a spot called wellness hills right on main st in chester. they actually do mental health treatment chester nj that’s more than just a 15 minute "here’s some lexapro" check-in. i’m starting their outpatient thing soon and the intake was surprisingly chill, but i’m still nervous. has anyone else here been there? or does anyone have other local recommendations for when the "chester fog" (mental and physical lol) gets too heavy? i’m just trying to get back to feeling like a normal human again.
