Training/ fitness
Something I have been wondering about lately as a future first responder.
It feels like fitness is treated as an “on your own time” thing rather than part of job readiness. Considering officers can be expected to handle physically demanding situations, would it make sense for every station to have a proper gym/fitness area, especially martial arts which is something that is desperately needed nowadays, or for officers to get subsidised/free gym memberships? (I know fitness passport exists, but it still seems like this leaves fitness to an afterthought.)
Curious what serving officers think — is this something the organisation already supports, or is it mostly left up to individuals?
