Looking for an NX Tutor / Mentor

Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone experienced with Siemens NX who can teach me product design from beginner to advanced.

My main goal is to learn how to design real plastic/consumer products, especially:

  • Part modeling
  • Surface modeling
  • Assembly
  • Draft angles and injection-molding considerations
  • Mold design basics
  • Design for manufacturing

I’m not just looking for someone to show me which buttons to click. I want to understand the design process and why things are designed a certain way.

I’m looking for someone who can teach me through online lessons, preferably using practical projects and real-world examples.

This is a paid tutoring opportunity. I’m willing to pay for your time and experience. We can discuss the hourly rate or lesson pricing depending on your experience and teaching style.

If you’re an experienced NX designer, engineer, or tutor and you’re interested, please comment or DM me with your experience, availability, and rates.

Thanks!

Subtract issue.

I’m trying to subtract the part below the green line from a plate. The green is line is the section analysis line I took from the face of the plate. NX 12 refuses to subtract saying tool body is completely outside of the target. Any solutions?

How do you handle initial datum structure on a new model?

As I see it, there are at least 3 options.

  1. Attach first sketch to DCS(0). Once you create the first solid, all sketches must be attached to datum’s created off of the part.

  2. Attach datum planes to DCS(0) and build sketches off of those datum planes.

  3. Just put sketches on whatever is convent, sometimes putting multiple sketches on DCS(0).

I feel like the old school method is to put datum’s on DCS(0) and build from that. Idk if that is still in style and would love some opinions.

Personally, I use option 1 but I’m questioning whether future me would appreciate having my sketches attached to the initial CSYS or having them attached to planes placed on abs csys. Or if this is something old people tell me to do because they’re not comfortable with the new NX ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks!
