We saw 2 chickens at the Ocracoke Campground dumpsters, across highway 12 on the sound side. Has anyone seen them before? Are they always there?

Looking for some advice

We are visiting Hattaras next week and we’re looking to take a day to explore Ocracoke. How feasible is it to explore the island by bike? Looking at what’s more practical - I am an avid bike rider- my partner will ride if she is in the mood- we want to grab a bite to eat, check out the lighthouse , maybe shell walk on the beach. I’m unsure about parking vs pedaling everywhere
