Estou em processo de desligamento da Obra. Faz 11 anos que apitei e, durante toda essa trajetória, tentei ao máximo me encaixar nos padrões da formação, que no fundo são uma formatação.

Quero dizer a todas as pessoas corajosas que se atreveram, e continuam se atrevendo, a denunciar os abusos cometidos pela Obra que muitas coisas estão mudando lá dentro graças às denúncias de vocês.

Essas mudanças chegaram até a me fazer questionar se eu realmente queria sair. Ainda tenho afeto e amizade por algumas pessoas da Obra e reconheço que há ensinamentos que considero bons, embora muitas vezes sejam sufocados por uma enorme quantidade de erros.

Nos últimos anos, tentei, mostrar às diretoras que muitas práticas eram abusivas, controladoras e causavam sofrimento.

As respostas, porém, eram quase sempre as mesmas: "Só queremos o bem das pessoas."; "Você é sensível demais."; "Essa nova geração não aguenta nada."

Com o tempo, percebi que elas não estavam abertas ao diálogo.

Hoje vejo que existem algumas poucas pessoas que realmente desejam transformar a Obra por dentro, mas enfrentam uma enorme resistência por parte dos membros mais antigos. Chegaram até a me dizer que eu tinha perfil para ser esse "agente de mudança". Mas percebi que é profundamente desgastante tentar mostrar o óbvio para pessoas que, durante muitos anos, foram formadas dentro de uma lógica em que questionar era visto como falta de espírito.

Os relatos publicados aqui têm me ajudado a nomear tudo o que vivi e senti ao longo desses anos. Eles me dão forças para compreender a minha própria história e seguir em frente com essa decisão.

I hope the pope will excommunicate OD as well. Wonder what will make him do that…

I attended an OD school for a few years when I was young, and I remember each student getting assigned to one of the teachers and we would have meetings with them (I can’t remember exactly how often) but probably a few times a month or so. My question lies in how OD schools work, I knew nothing of OD before I attended, but do the ”principals” or “head of schools” have to be supernumeraries or hold a similar power within the organization? Also do the teachers have to hold power within the organization or are they usually just OD members?

With the Vatican's ongoing statute reforms moving Opus Dei under the Dicastery for the Clergy, it is likely that lay and clerical branches might be legally separated. How is this structural split going to impact the traditional way Nums manage their professional salaries and support OD centers?

¿Os habéis dado cuenta de que el Opus exige dinero a los cooperadores?

Cada vez levanta más el tono y en lugar de pedir, exige.

Sus argumentos son que se necesita renovar no sé qué, o mantener a un cura del Opus en su formación, o lo que sea.

En la jerga de la organización: “tienen que sentir el peso de la Obra, como los demás miembros”.

Exigir para que el cooperador sienta que es su responsabilidad (sin serlo, realmente, porque no es miembro) es otro abuso que no sigue ningún estatuto eclesiástico de ningún tipo.

Las limosnas y donaciones a organizaciones religiosas son VOLUNTARIAS, de donde sale su belleza. Si son IMPUESTAS son feas, no tienen raíz en Jesucristo.

Si al OD le parece tan honesto lo que hace, ¿por qué antes de pedir la admisión no te expone abiertamente su forma tan diferente y novedosa de dirección espiritual?
No hay nada así en 2000 años de Historia de Cristianismo. ¿No dice el Evangelio que el Espíritu Santo sopla donde quiere?

¿En qué documento eclesiástico podemos leer la aprobación de lo que hacen los directores del Opus en las reuniones del consejo local con la presencia del sacerdote? ¿Qué canon, qué dicasterio del Vaticano y cuándo aprobó esta forma de conducir a las almas al Cielo?

A memory floated up-

One of the last Masses of June 26 I went to:

Seeing two female nums aged 60s-70s literally with their mouths hanging open standing two feet from the bishop who had said the Mass and making conversation/flirting with/adulating him.

This was after the Mass when people were hanging around outside the church and in the entryway.

Completely grotesque.

Caked on makeup and cheaply dyed hair, decked out in their finest clothes and jewelry, and literally salivating because they thought that they were communing with the high echelon of the social-ecclesiastical hierarchy.

Finding the bishop sexy because he was ecclesiastically powerful.

To me it cemented that “there’s no there there” in Opus Dei.

These women had been local directors for years, had run schools, deeply involved in both Saint Raphael and Saint Gabriel spiritual direction (“chats”)… given the “initial formation” to many nums and supers.

How is Opus Dei “personal formation” (chats) leading people to holiness when this is who we have in charge?

Answer: it’s not and it simply can’t.

It’s run by people who value power and social status. And who don’t have a solid integrated celibate identity.

The advisory had been getting complaints about these two being overly controlling directors for decades. It had just kept moving them from one director role to another.

Allegedly because these women “didn’t want to do anything else” beside lead (blame them). But really I think because “they got things done” and “people whistled with them”.

Yuck.
