Any luck with abdominal ultrasounds?
Long story short, I have had low right-side abdominal pain off and on for over two years, and it is consistently worse when I’m menstruating. The first time it happened, I went to the ER to get checked for appendicitis, which I didn’t have. I have had the same pain off and on ever since.
My doctor put in orders for me to get an abdominal ultrasound to look for ovarian cysts and told me that I would have to get a transvaginal ultrasound if the images were unclear. Based on everything I’ve read, transvaginal ultrasounds provide much clearer images and are usually more definitive.
I’m trying to mentally prepare for this appointment and any other appointments I may have, so I want to have a realistic idea of how likely this abdominal ultrasound will be to provide good images. Has anyone had an abdominal ultrasound to look for cysts? Was it successful? What was the overall process like?
Thank you!
