Trouble with audio latency increase with different interfaces

Hi all,

I have an issue where the input latency that i can record music at increases when I connect my USB mic. I already have one USB interface connected and the latency sits at 2.6ms but when I connect the second device it increases to 4.0ms.

Could someone help me with this please? As I understand, only the sample rate and buffer size should affect the latency. How can two different devices have different latencies with all other settings remaining unchanged?

system info

this is some of /etc/pipewire/pipewire.conf

here's the audio routing

this is what my Digital Audio Workstation (reaper) is saying while the RØDE is plugged in. with the RØDE unplugged it's indentical except the 4.0 becomes 2.6

The GT-1000 device gives me 2.6ms on the input and the output, the "Built-in Audio Digital Stereo (HDMI)" also gives me 2.6 on the output (and 0.0ms on the input for some reason).
The "RØDE NT1 5th Gen Mono" (which I have connected via the USB cable not the XLR) gives me 4.0 ms.

thanks for reading this far and thanks in advance for any help/advice

EDIT: something else that just occured to me was that this mic is able to record at 32 bit. The WAVs that I get in reaper are only 24 so, if anyone knows how to change that (presumably it's a system thing, not a reaper thing) please do tell...

thanks

Does the Wireless Pro TX record actual 32 bit .WAV files or some proprietary nonsense that can't be dragged and dropped into a NLE?

I keep seeing references to proprietary .UGG files being recorded by the transmitters then needing an app to convert them to . WAV files.

Issues with Rodecaster video EDL files

Hey everyone,
Just picked up the new RODECaster Video and trying to use it for a multicam shoot. I’m attempting to import the project via the .otio file option to bring in all my isolated camera feeds with the live cuts already done.

In Premiere Pro, the cuts do not match what I actually recorded live. All the clips on my timeline look almost double the length they are supposed to be, the cuts are happening in completely wrong spots, and the media is out of bounds.
Thinking it was just an Adobe bug, I tossed the project into DaVinci Resolve, but the exact same thing happens. Resolve spits out a ton of error logs stating:
Mismatch between specified target timecodes and located file timecodes.

In my testing it seems like the timeline expects a clip that is roughly 39 seconds long, but the actual MP4 file on my drive is only 19 seconds.
If I take that raw 19-second clip on the timeline and manually stretch it out (making it 2x slower to fill the 40-second timeline space), the cuts suddenly match up perfectly! But obviously, everything is playing in slow motion and the audio is completely bricked.

Has anyone else experienced this? Similarty, I'm also experiencing issues with otio files handling custom scenes with multiple cameras and backgrounds, sometimes project files seem sort of bricked because of these. There isn't much content or info about using these otio files online but i specifically bought the rodecaster video for this functionality.

How do I get Premiere or Resolve to interpret these cuts correctly at normal playback speed without manually stretching everything?
Is there a hidden setting on the RODECaster or a framerate interpretation trick I'm missing? I tried recording at 29.97, 30 and 23.97 fps. Tried changing my camera hdmi out settings. Tried updating premiere. Changed rodecaster recording settings.

Appreciate any sanity checks here, because I am losing mine. Thanks!

Using Windows Sonic / Atmos / DTS Headphone X with the Rodecaster Duo

Is anyone using their Duo in a dual PC streaming setup, and successfully enabling virtual sound sound? And even more specifically: doing so while their headphones are hooked up through the monitor output -> and external amp and NOT the headphone out?

I know this is very niche!

Screensharing to the Rodecaster Video S from an iPad or other devices?

Doing a podcast with the Rodecaster Video S; so far we have 3 HDMI cameras going in which doesn't leave room for a fourth HDMI input except thru the USB4 UVC device port. We've tried having an iPad > Lighting to HDMI Adapter > Capture Card > USB port and it gets picture but then the iPad doesn't have an audio output and the Rodecaster doesn't get it's audio, which may be an Ipad issue with their lack of audio routing configuration.

But then also, we've tried NDI, and perhaps there's some workarounds there, but it seems like the Rodecaster is VERY finicky with what NDI signals it'll accept, as I could kinda get some signal from some devices but there was no picture.

The team is open to alternatives to the iPad, like a laptop, but it also seems like MacOS versus PC have ramifications on the NDI abilities?

Virtual Device Driver no longer working?

I put my PC to sleep last night with everything functioning fine. This morning all of my virtual audio tracks are gone (A, B, Gaming, etc.) I have everything updated to the latest versions (see images). I'm at a lost on what to do. I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Restarted the PC and the Rodecaster Duo several times. Nothing seems to work or make a difference. Is anyone having this issue today? Does anyone know how to fix this? Everything I've found from searching this subreddit and google says to install updated versions and I've done that. This is incredibly frustrating...

UPDATE FIX: See my comment below

Rodecaster Pro 2 with Elgato Stream Deck + XL

Hi all I am looking to get the stream deck + xl but I love my rodecaster pro 2 and I was wondering if it’s possible to use them simultaneously. I don’t plan to get wave xlr but I have considered wanting to be able to use wave link. Would I still be able to use the rodecaster and its faders to control my stream but use the wave link software for routing?

Thanks for the help!

Video Micro II not working in hub

Hi!
I have the Video Micro II with the trss cable (black to grey) plugged into a usb-c adapter (grey end).

It doesn’t work if I plug the usbc in the neewer usb-c hub, but it works if I plug it directly into my phone.

I’m quite sure therefore it’s not the usbc adaptor since it works directly, but I need my phone’s plug for the hub for other stuff.

Any ideas why and what I could do for it to work?

Thanks

Is it possible to control the Rodecaster Duo with a Midi Pad or Keyboard without the use of a computer?

I used Google Gemini to produce a picture of what I am looking for.

During our last podcast recording, we accidentally double-tapped the touchscreen record button, which caused us to lose the entire first half of the show. To prevent this, I’m looking for a physical, tactile record button.

I looked into using an Elgato Stream Deck, but since it requires a computer as a 'middle man' and our recording space is computer-free, that won't work. I’m now trying to find out if I can plug a MIDI pad or keyboard directly into the RØDECaster Duo via USB to trigger the record and SMART pad functions without needing a PC.

Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

Rodecaster Video and Rodecaster Pro II link

Question on linking these two devices. I have the Rodecaster video and a Rodecaster pro 2 connected via the included USB-C cable. I have the cable connected to USB port 2 on the Rodecaster pro 2 and USB port 4 on the Rodecaster video. I have the latest firmware on both devices. For some reason, they aren’t recognizing each other. The Rodecaster pro 2 stays on a screen the prompts me to connect a Rodecaster video. I’ve also tried resetting both devices…

Any idea what could be wrong here?

Is there a RØDECaster Video Core without the audio features?

I’m looking into the RØDECaster Video/S/Core mainly for the video switching/streaming side of things, but I already own a RØDECaster Duo for all my audio processing and mic inputs.

Because of that, I feel like a lot of the audio features on the Video would be redundant for me. What I really want is:

  • HDMI switching
  • Direct streaming to Twitch/YouTube
  • Scene switching
  • Maybe multiview
  • Hardware encoding so my PC doesn’t take the hit
  • Integration with the Duo if possible

So I’m wondering:

  • Is there a version like a hypothetical “RØDECaster Video Core” that keeps the video/streaming features but removes most of the audio interface stuff?
  • Are there alternatives from other brands that basically do this?
  • If you already own a Duo, does the RCV/RCVS/RCVC still make sense or does it feel like paying twice for audio features?

Voice effects in Rødecaster Video S

How do you access the audio voice effects with the Rødecaster Video S?

By which I mean: reverb, echo, deep voice, robot voice, etc.

Been trying to find them, but only found options for EQ, compression, and so forth. Not any of the effects. Thanks!

Rode caster duo with beyerdynamic DT 700 pro x

Im a audio newbie currently but have had a rodecaster duo for a while for my microphone. I primarily game and stream. I want to trade my gaming headset out for the DT 700 pro x. My question is - if I plug them into my rode caster duo will the sound be set to the "default settings" of the headphones? Or am I going to have to figure out how to EQ them to get them sounding like they are supposed to. Again sorry if this question is basic but I just want to know what im getting myself into before I make the purchase.

Hello everyone! I have a problem with my Rode NT1. I connect it in my MacBook Air and when I open my DAW (Reaper) and start recording it makes weird sounds and the voice doesn’t sounds like should.

I tried with both wires (XLR and USB-C) and the issue continues, and recording in 24 or 32 bits FP is the same.

I thought it was a microphone problem but is not. I refunded the mic and bought another and te problem persists.

I tried connecting my mic to a Windows Intel I3 notebook and it works perfectly (the strange noise disappeared and the recording sounds much better)

I don’t know why a older model of laptop works better with this mic or if it’s a hardware problem. I know quite about settings and I’d say it’s not a settings problem.

I’ll attach an audio test so you guys listen to what i’m saying.

I really hope you could help me🫡
