phasing with a USB mic connected by external connection

I have a  Rhodes Nt-USB mike that I was using with Audacity and picked up some serious phasing-robotic interference in my test recordings.

I verified the the hertZ format for the mic’ and Audacity were a match. I also tested in Logic and Garage band and had the same issue. My non-usb mics never had the phasing but go thru a M-Audio Air 192/14.

A lot of my midi and USB gear are all hooked up vie external connections as my MacBook Pro M5 only has 3 “c” connections and those are used for monitors. The external outboard gear all are connected thru the monitor usb connections.

Further testing a swapping cables and using other connection points. Same issue with phasing.

I remove one of the monitor connections and plugged the Rhode

mic’ directly into the Mac book pro and from there, testing  with Audacity/logic pro/garage band recorded with no issue and no phasing/robotic sound. But also lost a few midi/usb devices as they go thru the monitor that was connected.

Is there any settings or trouble shooting that I can do to eliminate the phasing from having the mic’ connected via hub? I also did a reset in Apples Midi set up…….

Question about the Rode Wireless ME

Hi all, I currently use a Rode Lavalier Mic (can't remember which one, had it for about 5-6 years now) that runs into the back of my camcorder via minijack.

I'm 99% sure I'm going to buy a Rode Wireless ME, so I don't have to deal with cable running across the room anymore, and my question is, would there be any benefit to continuing to use that Lav mic plugged into the Wireless ME, or is the included mic in the Wireless ME good enough to where you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference?

Rodecaster Pro 2 won't update

I just bought a rodecaster pro 2 from the Sweetwater gear exchange but it refuses to update. I've looked online for tips but nothings worked, I've tried cycling power, updating through wifi, ethernet, and usb but no matter what I try it just gets stuck on the install screen, has anyone else with this issue found a solution?

can you guys download anything from the site?

I just set up my rode caster duo and in the manual it asked me to download an app (RØDE central) that doesn't support the device and that app told me to download the RØDECaster App instead which leads to a 404, and trying to contact support leads to a 502 gateway error :/

Does the Rode Videomic Go II remember settings!

I can't seem to find info about this anywhere so I'm asking here: does the Rode Videomic Go II remember the settings I activated in the Rode Central App when connecting to a camera via TRS cable?

For example if I activate the high pass filter on the app when the mic is connected to my phone, then I disconnect it from the phone to connect it to my camera via the TRS cable, do I still have the high pass filter on?

Thank you to everybody that responds!

Isolate output of Podmic?

I'm using my new Duo for my streaming radio station. I'm using the Duo much like an old-school analog mixer as follows:

Slider 1: Podmic
Slider 2: Music Playout software from PC
Slider 3: PC sounds (so I can do some production without that input going to 'air')
Slider 4: the Pads on the Duo

The USB1 is output to Butt for broadcast.

My question is this - Is there a way to keep my Podmic from going to air when I want to do that sometimes? I would like to record some stuff without the Podmic being heard on air while doing so.

Need help routing my RØDECaster Pro II for live vocal covers

I use a RØDECaster Pro II connected by USB to a Windows 11 laptop running TikTok LIVE Studio.

During TikTok battles, the other creator hears a delayed echo of their own voice coming back from my side. I cannot hear the echo in my headphones. Everything sounds normal to me.

I need the correct Mix Minus and USB routing settings so I can hear the other creator without sending their voice back to them.

Can someone show me the exact settings for:

  1. The microphone and speaker devices inside TikTok LIVE Studio
  2. USB 1 routing on the RØDECaster Pro II
  3. Which channels should be included or excluded from the outgoing mix

Screenshots or a current video tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

Issue with My PodMic USB

I’m struggling with my new RØDE PodMic USB (connected via USB) and need advice on whether this sounds like a hardware failure:

Gain inconsistency: At low gain, it doesn’t pick up my voice; at higher gain, it captures extreme background noise and breathing. (Requires being uncomfortably close to the mic).

Internal crackling: A persistent, non-environmental crackling sound has started coming from the mic internally.

Location: I am in India and looking for the correct warranty/service process.

Has anyone experienced this "internal" crackle? Is this a faulty unit, or a known driver/firmware issue I can fix? Appreciate any guidance on contacting RØDE support in India.

Why does nobody seem to complain about the god awful Direct Monitoring found within the Rodecaster Pro 2 and Rodecaster Duo?

As the title states, I am just surprised at the lack of people in this subreddit and on the internet in general (Youtube videos, forums, reviews, etc.) who complain about the Direct Monitoring with the Rodecaster Pro 2 and Rodecaster Duo.

I'm a full-time content creator and recently switched out ALL of my Elgato products in order to get the Rodecaster Duo for all my audio routing and dual PC setup with my streams. I absolutely LOVED this little thing and all that it was capable of. My mic sounded amazing and it was simple enough to get up and running within one afternoon.

But then I noticed something quite odd. When listening to myself through direct monitoring my mic sounded almost doubled or as if my voice had a Phaser effect applied to it. I spent literally 4 hours troubleshooting this problem because I cannot survive a stream without direct monitoring my own voice.

After 4 hours of tinkering with settings and verifying I wasn't setting my routing channels up incorrectly, I took to the internet to figure out what this issue was. But almost NOBODY has ever had this exact problem apparently? I found maybe 1 post with someone having the same problem but next to nobody had responded to them in months... so no fix for them or me.

I ended up contacting Rode about it via email and after some light troubleshooting they "confirmed" that it was a hardware defect and I needed to send the unit back. Fast forward a few days and another Rodecaster Duo appears at my door as a replacement and it sounds the exact same.

Out of pure frustration I decided to return it and instead upgrade to the Rodecaster 2 because I figured that since it's the more "premium option" there is no way it would have this same issue... right?

WRONG. The rodecaster Pro 2 sounds exactly the same as the Duo in terms of this "doubling effect" in my ears when speaking. That's when I came across another old reddit post where someone pointed out how both the Rodecaster Pro 2 and the Duo do not have zero-latency monitoring.... So this doubling sound I hear is actually just a delay between your mic and what comes through your headphones.... Insane....

How can a $700 device that is marketed towards streamers, gamers, content creators, and podcasters NOT HAVE ZERO LATENCY MONITORING IN 2026?

I pray to god that someone at Rode sees this post and they can assure me that a firmware update can fix this with time... because other than this one major flaw I LOVE this thing and it's made my setup absolutely streamlined.

But man.... what a bummer.

*EDIT*

Added screenshots of my routing setup because people were asking for it.

Also, yes I have tried listening to the mic with AND without ANY processing on the device. Delay is still there regardless.

Rodecaster Pro II only showing up as 2-channel stereo instead of multitrack on the macOS 27 beta — anyone else?

So my Pro II has been rock solid for a long time, and now all of a sudden the Mac only sees it as two little stereo devices — "Main Stereo" and "Chat," two channels each. No multitrack anywhere.

The console is set to multitrack. I checked. That part isn't it.

In Logic, every track I had pointed at inputs 3, 7-8, 13-14 lost its record-enable button. The only one that still works is the one sitting on 1-2 — which makes sense if two channels is all the Mac is being handed. And Audition does the exact same thing, so it's not Logic either.

Before anybody says cable: I get a clean connection. The device shows up fine, it just shows up small. It's not a dead link, it's the wrong shape.

The one thing that actually changed is that I'm on the macOS 27 beta.

So mostly I'm asking — has anybody else on 27 hit this? Did it clear when the release build landed, or is there something on the console side I'm missing?

Not in a huge hurry. I can track to the SD card in the meantime. I just want to know whether I'm chasing something real or waiting on Apple.

Rode is saying I need to update firmware to access my recordings. Then it says the update may delete my recordings, so I should have them backed up. Huh? How do I fix this Catch-22?
