You were hired by a group of Elven adventurers seeking these historic relics to be their Torchbearers inside of the dangerous dungeons.

A Grim Tale [D&D 2014/2024 5e][21+][NSFW][Play-by-Post] Looking For Players To Take A Darker Adventure!

“The world does not care if you survive. The question is what remains of you when it is finished.”

Greetings Travelers,

I am looking for a small group of players interested in a long-term, roleplay-first, play-by-post D&D 5e grimdark fantasy campaign.

If you are looking for a heroic dungeon crawl where the party always wins, evil is clearly defined, and the world bends around your character’s importance, this will likely not be the game for you.

This is a campaign about desperate people surviving in a cruel world filled with war, hunger, corruption, monsters, faith, betrayal, disease, exploitation, and horrors that do not always grant the mercy of death.

Think Berserk, Goblin Slayer, Darkest Dungeon, Fear & Hunger, and grounded medieval horror fantasy.

The Setting

The campaign takes place in a harsh fantasy world where civilization survives by inches, not miles.

Kingdoms rot from within, noble houses sell their honor for power, and churches preach salvation while hiding graves beneath their floors; villages simply vanish from maps; monsters stalk the roads; and Mercenary companies, cults, bandits, corrupt lords, and worse prey upon those too weak to resist.

Magic exists, but it is not clean or safe. Divine power may answer prayers, but gods are distant, silent, or cruel. Ancient ruins promise treasure, but they also carry curses, madness, and truths mortals were never meant to know.

From afar, the world may still look beautiful: candlelit cathedrals, ancient castles, misty forests, harvest festivals, noble courts, and songs of heroes long dead.

Then you step off the main road and see the truth.

  • Someone’s child was taken last night.
  • Someone’s village paid tribute to monsters to survive winter.
  • Someone sold their soul for food.
  • Someone came back from the woods changed.
  • Someone begged for death and was denied it.

That is the world I want to explore: beauty, horror, hope, despair, faith, corruption, and the people caught somewhere in between.

The Story

This is not a campaign about saving the world; this world may already be too broken for that.

This is a campaign about surviving it, changing within it, and deciding what lines your character will cross before the end.

Your characters are not legendary heroes at the beginning. They are people with wounds, debts, fears, desires, sins, loyalties, and reasons to keep going.

You might be:

  • A disgraced knight trying to reclaim honor.
  • A peasant who survived something no one believes.
  • A hedge mage hiding from the church.
  • A sellsword drowning guilt in coin and blood.
  • A runaway noble hunted by their own family.
  • A priest whose faith is cracking.
  • A survivor of a massacre who wants revenge.
  • A thief trying to buy freedom.
  • A monster hunter who fears becoming worse than the things they kill.

Everyone starts somewhere, and in this campaign, that “somewhere” is not glory. But rather it is mud, hunger, fear, debt, grief, and desperation.

Before the party fully comes together, we will spend time grounding each character in the world: their life, relationships, fears, flaws, obligations, and reasons to continue. The group will then be brought together through circumstances that feel natural rather than forced.

You may play multiple characters over the course of the campaign due to death, retirement, corruption, capture, hiatus, or story reasons, but you may only actively play up to two characters at any given time.

What I’m Looking For

More than anything, I want players who enjoy becoming their characters.

I want people who love conversations as much as combat. Players who message each other after a battle because their characters need to talk. Players who build relationships, rivalries, romances, grudges, loyalties, fears, and complicated histories without waiting for the GM to hand them everything.

Some of the best roleplay does not happen during combat.

  • It happens around a dying campfire after a terrible victory.
  • It happens when the cleric admits their prayers feel empty.
  • It happens when the fighter cannot sleep after what they did.
  • It happens when the rogue finally tells someone the truth.
  • It happens when the party argues over whether mercy was weakness.
  • It happens when someone realizes that survival costs them something they cannot get back.

Those are the moments I am here for.

Morality

I do not expect your characters to be heroes.

In fact, I would rather they were not clean, perfect, or untouched by the world.

This setting produces survivors, zealots, cowards, martyrs, killers, liars, saints, monsters, and people who are not sure which one they are becoming.

Your character may do terrible things. They may lie, steal, kill, betray, sacrifice, abandon, or compromise their morals to survive.

What matters is that those choices feel earned.

I am not interested in random murder, pointless cruelty, or “that’s what my character would do” as an excuse to derail the game or make things miserable for other players.

If your character crosses a line, there should be a reason behind it.

Their choices should come from who they are, what they have endured, what they fear, what they love, and what they are trying to protect or achieve.

In this campaign, your choices matter.

  • Your reputation matters.
  • Your relationships matter.
  • Your faith matters.
  • Your sanity matters.
  • Your soul matters.

Mature Themes, ERP, and NSFW Content

This is an 18+ campaign.

This world contains many of the darkest elements of humanity and fantasy horror.

The campaign may include violence, gore, torture, body horror, psychological horror, slavery, exploitation, abuse, corruption, religious extremism, war crimes, starvation, disease, madness, sexual themes, romance, ERP, and consequences worse than death.

These themes are not included for shock value or smut for the sake of smut.

They exist because this is a grimdark world where evil is ugly, suffering has weight, and survival can leave scars deeper than death.

ERP exists in the campaign, but it is optional and must be consensual between all involved players. Explicit ERP will be handled in private channels only. Public channels will use implication, aftermath, emotional framing, or fade-to-black where appropriate.

This is not meant to blur player and character boundaries. I do expect applicants to be comfortable with their characters experiencing horrifying encounters that one should never wish upon another, whether fade-to-black or roleplayed by player consent.

This is not a space to harass players, pressure people, or use “in character” behavior as an excuse for out-of-character misconduct. Anyone who does so will be removed.

This is intended to be a safe space to explore more mature and darker elements of life that we wouldn’t wish to encounter in real life and how one survives and overcomes them. It is not meant to encourage, promote, or glorify behaviors taken by the creatures of the world.

There will be mechanics provided within the form that will cover over all of the core mechanics expanded upon for this section of play, I have converted some of it into text cause the original PDF is very “suggestive art” heavy and VERY NSFW.

Before joining, all applicants will complete a form covering expectations, boundaries, content comfort, Lines & Veils, NSFW preferences, and safety tools. This campaign will not have many hard restrictions by default, so it is important that players understand what kind of game they are applying for before joining.

Rules

We will be using D&D 5e 2014 and 2024, with house rules designed to support a slower, grittier, more grounded fantasy experience.

This will not feel like a standard heroic fantasy campaign.

The ruleset will include adjustments for things such as:

  • Gritty rests.
  • Downtime progression.
  • Lingering consequences.
  • Sanity and corruption.
  • Injuries and recovery.
  • Travel and survival.
  • Relationship development.
  • Reputation.
  • Slower pacing.
  • ERP Mechanics
  • More grounded character growth.

The goal is not to make the game miserable or punish players for existing but rather they exist to make the world feel dangerous, natural, and consequential.

Combat should feel like something characters survive, not something they casually farm for experience.

Downtime matters. Travel matters. Rest matters. Wounds matter. Food, coin, shelter, allies, reputation, and trust all matter.

Your character will grow through more than leveling. They may train, study, heal, break, recover, build bonds, lose faith, find purpose, or become something they never expected.

Play-by-Post

This is an asynchronous play-by-post campaign.

I work full-time, so there will be times when I cannot immediately respond as GM.

That does not mean the roleplay stops.

One of my biggest philosophies with PbP is that idle typing is the death of a campaign.

If the party is waiting on combat, travel, or a GM post, characters can still speak by the fire, tend wounds, pray, argue, write letters, train, confess fears, seek comfort, share food, or sit in silence after something terrible happened.

I want the world to feel alive throughout the week, not only when I post.

The players should create stories together just as often as I create stories for them.

Who This Game Is For

You will probably enjoy this campaign if you:

  • Love deep character roleplay.
  • Enjoy collaborative storytelling more than “winning.”
  • Want your backstory to matter.
  • Enjoy slow-burn character development.
  • Like moral ambiguity and meaningful consequences.
  • Enjoy setbacks as much as victories.
  • Can handle uncomfortable themes maturely.
  • Want relationships with the party to matter.
  • Enjoy grounded fantasy horror.
  • Are comfortable with adult themes being discussed.
  • Want downtime, travel, wounds, fear, and survival to matter.
  • Are interested in exploring what a character becomes under pressure.

This is not a power fantasy.

This is not a game where the party becomes untouchable legends overnight.

This is not a campaign where the world exists to praise your character.

But if you want to spend months telling the story of broken, desperate, flawed people trying to survive a world that devours the weak…

I would love to hear from you.

Here is the forum link. Please set aside time to read through it carefully. I went in-depth on expectations and alignment intentionally, because this kind of campaign requires everyone to understand what they are agreeing to before play begins: https://forms.gle/NvSzkfZ1Y5jNFjR39

[Online][5e 2024][Thursdays PST][LGBTQ+ Friendly] [18+] Exandria: Dreams of Dragons: A swash-buckling campaign filled with Samurai, Pirates, and Yokai!

"It is now the year 825 PD, during the fourth age in the world of Exandria...

Far in the Eastern seas, past the persistent fogbank known as the Fool's Curtain, a major archipelago invites seekers of adventure and fortune; The Shattered Teeth.

Inspired by legendary champions 10 years prior, many aspiring adventurers all across Exandria set off towards the islands shrouded in mystery, each hoping to earn their fame and fortune, and make their mark to become legends as well..."

Howdy, my name is Kenny!
I'm a long time TTRPG player that has played D&D 5e (2014), Star Wars RPGs, and Shadowrun for just over a decade.

After taking a long hiatus from GM-ing, I wanted to get back into the saddle again by kicking off with a campaign idea I've had for ages: A swash-buckling adventure set in the world of Critical Role, but with Samurais and Pirates!

The best way to imagine what to expect in this setting is a combination of feudal Asian culture and Pirates of the Caribbean, peppered with a Princess Mononoke-aesthetic.

We've got both Samurai and Pirates galore, which not only means swashbuckling with magical katanas and flintlock pistols, but also complex political drama, warring feudal clans, as well as fairy tale adventures involving both bizarre and/or horrifying asian-inspired mythological creatures like Yōkai!

If you are interested in applying as a player and want to know more, I humbly ask that you fill out the attached Player Survey linked below:

Pre-Campaign Player Survey Google Form

After filling out this Player Survey Google Form, please DM me or leave a comment below with your Name, Discord Username and/or your character name/concept.
Thank you, and I hope to hear from you all soon!

Online Stargate TTRPG Campaign: Applications are still open!

3 days remain for applications and I wanted to make a reminder in case more people were interested that may have missed the original post.

Thank you to everyone who have already submitted an application for the Stargate campaign. I really appreciate the interest and the time people have put into their character concepts so far.

Applications are still open, and I will be choosing the 4 players on Sunday, 07/05. Once the players are selected, I will post in our Discord Server and we will begin preparing for Session 0 .

We will be using the Stargate SG-1 RPG rules by Wyvern (2021)

As a reminder, please do not create a full character sheet yet. Characters will be created together during Session 0.

To apply, please send me a direct message on Reddit or Discord with the below information as the basis for your original character:

  • Character Name
  • Rank (if applicable, RP only)
  • Race: Aturen, Human, Jaffa, or Tok’ra
  • Preferred Class: Diplomat, Engineer, Medic, Scientist, Scout, or Soldier
  • A 1-2 paragraph character backstory

Applications missing any required fields will not be considered.

New players are welcome, and I am happy to teach the system. The game will be 18+, use Discord voice, Google Sheets, and TaleSpire.

I have already purchased TaleSpire seats, so no purchase is necessary. You will, however, need to download a copy of Talespire Guest Edition from Steam.

The current plan is 3-hour sessions every other week, most likely on Friday or Saturday evenings. I am in Pacific Time, but scheduling will be finalized with the group once they are chosen.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has shown interest. I am excited to finally get this campaign started!

What We Loved Was Not Enough [Online][Roll 20][Other][LGBTQ+ Friendly][MST][Bi-Weekly][Deltarune/Night in the Woods/Lovecraftian] Looking for 3-4 players!

The last time you were in Fort Moriah was around Middle School. Maybe your family got a better job and moved out, maybe you just got sent to a new home. Whatever the case: you had 3-4 good years away from this dying town, hopefully somewhere better. You lost contact with most of your friends here.

...But you have been dragged back. You're going to have to spend your last year of Highschool back in this town. Things haven't changed since you've left. That means this town is rotting. Decay has seeped in almost everywhere and it all feels foreign and wrong. Hopefully, this is just going to be one crappy Senior year, and you won't be stuck here.

Something is off though. Beyond just the rust and decay. Something is calling to you from the darkness. Songs in a tongue that sounds familiar and yet alien. The voices are coming from below. It's a dull buzzing in your ear that has just slowly grown in intensity.

It's telling you that you are imprisoned, bound, enslaved. It's telling you that the only way to find your Freedom is to plunge into the depths. Into a Darker, yet Darker world below.

Into the Völgev

System: Homebrew (Based on Into the Odd and NSR type games but doesn't use a d20)

Platform: Roll20 (text, sorry I hate doing voice online) + Discord for scheduling

Players: 3-4, looking for a small tightknit group.

Schedule: Weekday MST (Bi-weekly), looking for you to start sometime in August

My name is Cass and I've been a DM for a while. I have a group of 14~ people I usually rotate and play with, but I've been craving a change of pace with new players. I've learned that guessing the amount of sessions your campaign will run is a fools errand. So tentatively assume maybe...20-30 sessions?

I have quite a bit of this setting planned out as it's been a rather large pet project of mine for a while but this specific slice of it is fresh!

Tone: Expect a build up of horror and oddity. Things will start mundane and contained, but for how long? Parallel Reality Below where things work differently, and it's leaking.

GM Style: RP focused but I like maintaining verisimilitude of the world, I am not a story gamer kind of person. Rulings over Rules.

Also yes, there's a lot of other influences for the campaign, but I listed Night in the Woods and Deltarune because you'll be playing Anthropomorphic Animals. Make sure that's not a deal breaker for you.

I've also made a little Pitch Document to help sell the kind of vibe and theme I'm going for:

[Other][Online][CST][Dolmenwood][PBP] Dolmenwood Braunstein Campaign

Dolmenwood!

Seeking players for a unique campaign experience unlike any other!

Experienced Dolmenwood Referee, has ran and played in several Dolmenwood adventures and campaigns over the years.

New players are absolutely welcome! This is a great place to start.

We can help with accessing the basic rules to play.

Play in a Campaign Braunstein where most of the Patrons are played by actual players and dozens of other players roam the map

Basically like a pencil and paper MMO.

The book keeping is online for your character, play can be in person if you are in the local area near North Grand Prairie TX.

What kind of player am I looking for?

  • Probably not the best place for someone who can't handle a dash of male gamer culture.
  • If you can be kind and are here to game, it doesn't matter who you are, I want to game with you.
  • The game requires a lot of adult maturity and stability. Very mature and adult themes. Players have total autonomy when acting play-by-post including up to trying to bed the Baron's wife (without the details and florid writing), assassinating other player characters and making deals with demons.
  • Players need to have an open mind, this is a Braunstein. It's a major, dimensional leap forward in how an RPG campaign works and destroys some of the “sacred cows” of RPG gaming. I do not promise the outcome you want for your character, I do promise that those engaged will have open to them a vibrant and truly living world where it's elements are driven by players more than DM fiat, I do promise the seemingly impossible: total player autonomy.

(Online sessions are recorded and in person pictures are taken of the event to share. No one needs to consent to having their picture taken though just let me know in advance, and for online you may have your video off and go by a handle. Video is preferred, it helps!)

For examples of this kind of play check out our cross clubhouse play report on the Duchy Council here: https://open.substack.com/pub/otherworldclubhouse/p/cross-clubhouse-play-report-the-duchy?r=1fsffl&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

[Online][DnD 5e 2014/2024][GMT+3] Long-time lurker but first-time player looking for starter campaign (LMoP)

Hello! I have technically been reading the rules and observing dnd for about 3 years, but I have not played a proper full party game before. I am hoping to find a group to play and get more use to roleplaying.

Time zone: GMT+3

Day&Time: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 3pm until 10pm would be preferred but I have an open schedule. (to be clear, I do not mean I expect a 7 hour session, I am saying that I have a large gap where I am available between those times. The session length would be what everyone can manage, especially the DM.)

System: I am okay with either dnd 5e 2014 or 2024 depending on what the DM wants to run and what the other players would prefer.

Tools: Likely Discord or roll20, again whatever everyone prefers.

Looking for: Around 3 to 4 players + DM. Other Noobs okay of course.

Age: I am 18+ and would prefer the group to be as well.

Module: LMoP preferred.

[Online][Cyberpunk RED][18+][NSFW][Play-by-Post] Looking for Story-Driven Roleplayers to Experience Night City

>"The city always wins. The question isn't whether you'll survive forever... It's what you'll become before it finally gets you."

Hey chooms,

I'm looking for a small group of players who really want to sink their teeth into Cyberpunk RED as a long-term, roleplay-first play-by-post campaign. If you're looking for a tactical dungeon crawl with occasional roleplay, this probably isn't going to be the game for you.

I want to tell stories about people at the absolute bottom of society trying to claw their way up in a city that seems determined to drag them back down.

The Setting

The campaign takes place in Night City, 2045, shortly after the Fourth Corporate War. The war is over, and no one truly won, but a power vacuum has emerged to steer within the streets of Night City in the aftermath of its wake.

The city is rebuilding, but the cracks are impossible to ignore. Entire districts are still ruins. Combat Zones swallow neighborhoods whole. Corporations are returning to reclaim power while gangs fight over the scraps left behind. Everyone is trying to make a name for themselves because, for the first time in years, there are opportunities to be found... if you're willing to pay the price that is…

While Night City is beautiful from a distance, with neon signs lighting up the skyline and the mighty corpo towers promise a better tomorrow. Every advertisement tells you that success is just one purchase away.

Then… you truly walk down one of Night City’s streets and witness the reality of this nightmare city: Someone's apartment was condemned yesterday, Someone disappeared last night, and their family is in mourning, and Someone sold a piece of themselves just to make rent.

That's the version of Night City I want to explore. With all its glamour, grime, hope, despair, and the people caught somewhere in between.

The Story

This isn't a campaign about saving the world, as this world's already far too broken; rather, it's about how one actually survives it.

Your characters aren't legendary mercenaries... at least not yet. They're the Solo buried under debt to the wrong people. Joytoy is trying to buy back its freedom. The Medtech who can't afford treatment for someone they love. The addict is trying to stay clean. The gang member is trying to leave that life behind. The person is living out of a car because it's safer than sleeping in their apartment.

Everyone starts somewhere, and in this campaign, that "somewhere" is rock bottom. The question isn't whether you'll climb. The question is what you'll sacrifice to get there.

We will start by working on individual characters getting into the world, their life, their relationships, and more, before they meet the other party members. They will then get exposure in a way that feels natural about why the party has to work together, and go from there. You may play multiple characters throughout the story, whether they are dead/temporary hiatus/retired, but you may only play up to two characters at any given time. This allows you to switch up your approach within the world as well as gives the party the ability to fill out certain roles for the group when the circumstances are right and leaves room for natural downtime for the other character between gigs.

What I'm Looking For

More than anything else, I'm looking for people who enjoy becoming their characters.

I want players who love conversations just as much as combat. Players who message each other after a mission because their characters need to talk. Players who create relationships, rivalries, romances, grudges, friendships, and history without waiting for me to hand it to them. Some of the best moments in roleplaying don't happen during a firefight. They can happen at 2 AM over noodles after the job went sideways, or when your Solo quietly admits they're terrified, the Tech finally loses their temper, or when your crew argues over whether killing someone was actually justified.

Those moments are what I'm here for.

Morality

I don't expect your characters to be heroes, and honestly, I'd rather they weren't.

Night City doesn't produce many good people. It produces survivors and monsters:
People who lie, People who steal, People who kill, People who convince themselves they had no other choice.
Maybe your character is already a monster, or maybe they're becoming one, or maybe they're desperately fighting to stay human.

What matters to me is that everything they do feels earned:

I'm not interested in random murder, pointless cruelty, or "that's what my character would do" as an excuse for chaotic or immoral behavior. If your character crosses a line, I want there to be a reason behind it. Every terrible decision should come from who they are, what they've lived through, and what they're trying to protect or achieve.

Because in this campaign, your choices matter: your reputation matters, your relationships matter, your humanity matters.

Mature Themes (18+) and NSFW

Cyberpunk isn't a comfortable setting, and I don't intend to pretend it is:

This campaign will include mature themes such as violence, gore, poverty, addiction, corruption, sexuality, romance, exploitation, abuse, psychological horror, and other dark subject matter that naturally fit the setting.

These topics exist to tell honest stories about Night City, not to glorify or fetishize them.

Before anyone joins, everyone will fill out the form covering expectations, boundaries, Lines & Veils, and safety tools so everyone knows exactly what kind of game they're joining.

We will touch base on NSFW subjects; comfort levels are noted. That being said, ERP is entirely optional and offered in private channels for PC to PC, NPC to PC, etc. Any public channel interaction would not be direct or explicit ERP, but rather a Fade to black after preestablished interaction occurs, and then come back for the post scene, and then continue. The Forum will explain more.

Note: This is not intended to simply get your rocks off, it is not meant to blur past character to character, if you push it towards the player to player or harass another player, you will be removed. This is meant to be a disconnect from player to character and let the character interact with their world as they desire to do so.

Rules

We'll be using Cyberpunk RED with nearly every official rulebook and DLC available, with the exception of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners Mission Kit (CEMK).

The game also includes a number of revised rules, quality-of-life improvements, expanded Humanity and relationship mechanics, and a variety of house rules that I've developed over time. If you've played RED before, it'll still feel like RED, but don't expect a completely vanilla experience. The additional ruleset will be available within the forum as a note.

The goal isn't to reinvent the game, but rather it's to smooth out rough edges and make certain elements more impactful and swifter while supporting deeper character progression and storytelling.

Play-by-Post

This is an asynchronous play-by-post campaign.

I work full-time, so there will naturally be times when I can't immediately respond as GM.

That doesn't mean the roleplay stops.

One of my biggest philosophies with PbP is that idle typing is the death of a campaign.

If combat is waiting on anyone, there's nothing stopping two characters from roleplaying breakfast before the mission, grabbing drinks after the firefight, making a phone call to a family member, shopping for gear, or just sitting on a rooftop talking about life.

I want Night City to feel alive all week, not just when I'm posting. The players should be creating stories together just as often as I create stories for them.

Who This Game Is For

You'll probably enjoy this campaign if you:

  • Love deep character roleplay.
  • Enjoy collaborative storytelling more than "winning."
  • Want your backstory to matter.
  • Like slow-burn character development.
  • Enjoy moral ambiguity and meaningful consequences.
  • Enjoy the setbacks as much as the wins
  • Adapt to pressures and situations that may be uncomfortable
  • Want to build relationships with the rest of the crew.
  • Comfortable with all types of sexuality discussed
  • Are excited to help create a living, breathing version of Night City.

If you're looking for a power fantasy where you mow through enemies and become the biggest legend in the city, this probably isn't your game.

But if you want to spend months telling the story of broken people trying to survive, chasing dreams in a city that eats dreams for breakfast...

I'd love to hear from you.

Here is the Forum Link, please prepare some time to work through this cause I wanted to be through for expectations and alignment up-front so I went in-depth on this with intention: https://forms.gle/xcBH9mwM8sea9kaU8

Manage your time, your resources, and your strength as you struggle to make your way across the nation to the city of Wyldbark, where you just might be able to flee the ruined nation and find safety once more - after you battle through the Wyldheart Dungeon, of course!

This campaign features themes of horror, diplomacy, deceit, community, and sacrifice, which will serve as the anchors holding the party together and keeping their escape from failing. Individual player skill levels are not important - what’s most important is the willingness to work together, as a group of players, to keep the game engaging and party connected! This table is looking for energetic people who are willing to join conversations without having to first be called upon, who are willing to contribute to the stories of their fellow players and take the time to be a part of both the each party members’ narratives as well as the grander world of Winterheart itself!

This campaign will focus primarily on combat, diplomatic role play, and making critical story choices. There will be many times when the party will have to decide whom they will save, and who will be left to fend for themselves. The outcome of the battlefield will sometimes be determined before the party even arrives, based on the choices they've made up until that point. The campaign will involve a small amount of resource management and wilderness exploration, but it will primarily focus on tactical-driven combat scenarios and intense moments of roleplay and drama. Each character’s backstory will be seen throughout the campaign, so it will be important to pay attention to your fellow players and learn about the characters they have made, since the threats they will be facing might not be apparent to you without understanding the person fighting by your side!

We will be sticking to the 2024 5.5e rules as written as much as possible, with some minor gameplay changes to help players manage the session behind the screen (spotlight mechanics, for example). This campaign will ramp up with time, with the stakes starting out small and eventually spiraling into something truly epic. Throughout the campaign, there will be depictions of blood and gore, intense action scenes, scheming NPCs that are willing to lie and cheat to get ahead, and a blend of both Lovecraftian and thriller horror genres that will become more apparent over time.

If you’re a veteran looking for something new, or if you’re a new player trying to capture the essence of tabletop gaming without following a strict adventure module, then this is what you’re looking for! This game will be a blend of traditional dungeon-crawl and exploration-based travel, intense tactical combat, and modern storytelling and gameplay mechanics. If you are unfamiliar with all of the rules, that is not a problem - I am an experienced DM with over 500 sessions under my belt for Dungeons and Dragons 5th/5.5 edition. Combat scenarios, especially early on, will be designed to give players an opportunity to try new ideas and discover the full mechanics of the 5.5 system - including some mechanics many don’t normally interact with, such as using environmental elements to cause hazards and traps and using basic supplies to conserve character resources and influence the battlefield.

Players will also be given the current Winterheart Campaign Module, a work-in-progress proprietary third party module that is exclusive to Wintersong Games players! Explore up to 5 new classes, each with multiple subclasses, and enjoy hundreds of new feats, backgrounds, weapons, magic items, and a completely revamped firearms combat system that trades movement and action economy to deal deadly blows to your targets! As more of the system is completed, paying players will receive updates, new systems, and more all for free!

If you think this is the campaign for you, go ahead and respond here in this thread or hit me up on Discord at the username argentauthor. You can also contact me on StartPlaying.games at https://startplaying.games/gm/wintersong. Feel free to message me if you have any questions regarding the campaign!

Character Creation:

We will begin creating characters at level 1. We’ll be using tools provided by the DM and from the VTT platform to make our character sheets, and after this, we’ll be doing a session 0 encounter before leveling up characters to level 2 as the official launch of the campaign. Character creation resources will be provided, from books to tutorial videos. Most official and partnered Dungeons and Dragons content will be allowed, but keep in mind if there is a 2014 5e book that has received an update in 5.5/2024, we will be using the updated version. Material published prior to the 2024 rules update will need approval from the DM, which will normally just require slight modifications before it’ll be ready (such as needing to accommodate for weapon masteries). In addition, several new Wintersong Games classes - such as the melee-spellcaster support Argent class - will be available upon Session 0 for players to choose from.

Players get to choose how they would like their stats, either from an array or from a generous roll system. Players may choose between the stats of 15, 15, 12, 12, 10, and 8, or they roll. Our roll system uses 4d6 - players drop the lowest of the die, and the resulting number is the ability score. They perform this 7 times, and drop the lowest total result to get their 6 stats.

Inclusivity Statement:

I pride myself on maintaining a community of players dedicated to standing against bigotry against others. If you stand in opposition to people because of their ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or nationality, then you stand in opposition to not just this community, but myself personally. We do not want you at the table. I don't want you at the table. My tables are inclusive, and I will vigorously fight to keep it that way.

[Online][5e 2014][Friday 6:30pm CST][25+][LGBTQ+] Come rally, refuge's of The Aftermath!

'Aflame to ruin and dust as you breathe in every second of horror of the Dal'savorr Empire's invasion and ongoing war to your bereaved homeland, the land of Altelin. There's none who would argue the tragedies you've seen, what's been lost or what you've managed to hold onto. And even less who'd know if you'd let courage flee in the face of such daunting odds. What's left now is simply hope; for you and many others have been welcomed as refugees to new lands, to Tal’vidon and her many cities. Maybe you are a stranger with nothing but what's on your back, maybe a child or parent with family in tow, a group of friends who managed through the worst of it or maybe you are the worst of it to come blaze anew. Whichever fate has hailed you, deemed you live another tomorrow far from the devastation of blood. Know that you are the aftermath. A beacon of possibility in these darkest of events. Be well and stay clever, even far from war, wolves will whisper the sweetest things for you to welcome their jaws.'

Your Homeland, Al'forridae, The Kingdom of Altelin

Altelin is a Theocratic kingdom on the continent of Al'forridae, dominating more than the western half of the land up to and past the Pale Sea. Divided by the eclipsing wall of the Titanspine Mountains. The capital of Altelin is Calethmre, a massive, landlocked city near the heart of the land that can comfortably house giants within it’s walls. This kingdom has a low focus on technology and a high focus on [divine] magic.

Led by the Radiant Pontiff O’hallisk Forbane D'wall, a mortal giant who shepherded the faith of Torrum The First Light, with the zealous and heated will for the sun god for the past 210 years of their rule. His law is absolute throughout the kingdom.

Every temple within Altelin is government-owned and run, enforced by the First Light faith’s Startrim Knights and Sunlight Priests. Non-religious practices [like wizardry] are considered a social taboo, and the kingdom looks down on all forms of arcane magic with general disdain by it being separated from the practices of the ‘true gods’. The worship of unapproved deities [e.g. The Allfire] and even some ‘approved’ deities could result in imprisonment and at its worst, execution, on the charges of "heresy or Idolatry".

This goes doubly for those that dare consider themselves Warlocks or Witches. The Coldlight inquisition who are one of the top government officials, on the highest authority given from His Radiance, have leave to hunt down any and all who confer with Deep Magic's of corrupt beings due to their very nature and the vast bloody history of what they are. Which can include great ramifications for ones family, loved ones and close associates if investigations come to that. To that end, great and intense care is given to these investigations as those of the arcane persuasion have been fairly, commonly, accused of wielding such cruel magics. Wrongful accusations are met with a swift and harsh judgement and those rightfully accused are given mirrored cruelties as a rightful judging.

Tensions are also rising with the imperium of Dal’savorr, which borders the Kingdom of Altelin to the east. In the past, the Alte’s have mostly left Dal’savorr to its own devices. However, there has been constant unrest at the border over the past few years until now. Where Emperor Ivrrik Awnstir, a primordial faerie, surged forth in a surprise attack on the border city, Ironthrum. With accounts numbering the dead at over a few thousand, war was formally declared against the Dal'savorr Empire. This conflict has become known as the War of Judgement.

With Altelin now losing the war greatly after four years of this struggle, refugees are treading to new lands to seek shelter from the war. You are on a Skybearer that’s heading to the continent of Tal'vidon to maybe start a new life, escape an old one, find connections or are simply surviving one day at a time. Either way, welcome weary traveler to newer lands filled with possibility.

Should I choose you, I will have a more in depth document to help further your character creation. This is just to give some ideas.

Hello! I'm Kumo, 33 She/Him and have mainly been a player for six years and a new DM for a few months with my same group playing my homebrew, but with scheduling changes, our main play day has given me an opening to try and branch out from my campaign buddies and find some new folk to roll dice with!

And help my DMing as I'm still learning the ropes and still building this homebrew world. So keep that in mind that this will be mainly a Sandbox style campaign with a fairly loose plot, but I am looking for a long time group whose committed to playing as well and making a story together!

I'm looking for a total of 4-5 players! Mainly who're 20+ at the lowest, I'd like to stay within my age group, especially with the mature themes of this campaign.

And to have a campaign zero July 17th and to officially start on the 24th. As said above, this'll be a weekly game on Friday at 6:30pm until 10:30pm CST.

Game will be played using Discord for Voice and Roll20 for combat.

If you think this interests you please fill out this form: I'll be leaving this form open and interviewing folks until July 5th or until I've filled all the slots! Thank you for reading!

[Online][5e 2014][LGBTQ+ friendly] Two-shot adventure - DM looking for four players!

The premise:

It’s been twenty-three years since you served the last in a series of missions to restore the Arnaseth kingdom to its former glory. The entire operation lasted about four years. The King and Queen, Theris and Enbella Arnaseth, were benevolent and accommodating to your every need while you were at their service: under their rule, you were provided with food, lodging, and weapons to assist you on your various quests. Your valiant acts earned you renown in the area and the civilians used to treat you with respect.

On your last day on duty, the kingdom was thriving. The streets smelt of freshly made bread in the mornings and were flooded with the scent of night-blooming jasmine at dusk. Children roamed the streets safely and job security was on the rise. Before your departure, the king and queen paid each of you a large sum of gold in compensation for your hard work and sacrifice. In addition, they gifted you a platinum coin engraved with the Arnaseth coat of arms, vested upon you all the title of knights, and wished you every success in your future endeavours.

Through the years, you retained fond (or maybe not so fond) memories of each other but have not been in touch since your last day in Arnaseth. You have each led your own lives: started families, joined new guilds of adventurers, pursued some long-postponed lifelong goals. All was quiet, all was well.

…until one day, you feel it burning in your pocket, your pouch, wherever you keep your money. It has been so long, you had almost forgotten it existed, yet that engraved coin feels scalding to the touch. As you pull it out and hold it close to your eyes, it glows with bright, blinding light… and engulfs you.

You have just now reappeared in the spot where you often stood, twenty-three years ago: the outskirts of the nearby forest. Around you, your fellow former party members, never truly gone but always a distant memory, look around in astoundment. Far ahead in the distance, you see the kingdom’s entrance. A banner bearing the Arnaseth emblem adorns the outside walls, and above it, worn down and ragged, a flag with the family’s coat of arms flutters at half-mast.

WELCOME, ADVENTURERS! Hope you are all having a wonderful day... I'm currently looking to run a homebrew D&D module and am looking for four players who would be willing to go on a quest! This will be a two-shot game, so we will divide the adventure into two halves, playing once a week on two separate weeks.

Players: 18+, no exceptions.

Date and time: Tuesday 30th of June and Tuesday 7th of July. Any time between 10AM EST and 12 EST to start. Approx 4h.

Platform: Discord for voice, Roll20 for maps and rolling.

Character level: 10.

What to expect from the module: The first session is heavy on exploration, roleplay and gathering initial clues. The second session features puzzle solving and several combat encounters.

What to expect from the DM: Involvement, commitment, and lots of patience. I have 5 years of experience as a player, have DMed one-shots on and off for about 4 of those, and have one full homebrew campaign under my belt that lasted for a year. I am committed to making sure everyone at my tables feels comfortable, welcome, and has fun. I am also always open to critiques and honest feedback.

If this sounds like a fun time for you and something you'd be interested in, leave a comment here so I can get back to you, or send me a message! Looking forward to finding a team of adventurers :)

[LFP][Online][5e][Paid][$5][3:30pm/CDT]Tommy Guns, Spelleasies, and Hard-Boiled Elves. Welcome to New Hades: A 1920s Noir D&D Campaign🌆📽💵

"The rain in New Hades doesn't wash away the sins; it just makes the streets slick enough for a quick getaway. In this town, magic isn't a miracle—it's just another hustle."

Are you tired of standard medieval fantasy? Trade in your longsword for a snub-nose arc-pistol and your shining armor for a trench coat. I’m launching a gritty, 1920s noir-themed D&D 5e campaign set in the sprawling, smog-choked metropolis of New Hades, and I'm looking for a few good grifters, private eyes, and bootleggers to join the crew.

In New Hades, the Weave Act of '19 made unlicensed magic, potions, and spell scrolls strictly illegal. Now, underground "Spelleasies" run by powerful syndicates serve up black-market Potions of Heroism while corrupt beat cops look the other way for a handful of silver.

What to Expect

Noir-Flavored 5e: Classic classes adapted for a hard-boiled world. Play a Rogue Private Investigator, a Glamour Bard lounge singer, a Wizard illicit "chemist," or a Paladin untainted by city corruption.

Homebrew Arsenal: We’ll be using custom mechanics for magitek firearms, including Arcane Repeaters (Tommy guns) and elemental-powered V8 motor-carriages for high-speed getaways.

Morally Gray Roleplay: Navigate a city carved up by the Sylvani Syndicate (the Elven mob) and the Ironjaw Outfit (Dwarven/Orc muscle). Your choices will dictate who rules the underworld and who winds up at the bottom of the harbor.

Heavy Narrative Focus: I love tying character backstories directly into the city's factions and mysteries.

Campaign Details

System: D&D 5e (with setting-specific homebrew)

Platform: Discord for Voice/Chat & Roll20 for VTT

Time: [Sunday/3:30pm/CDT]

Experience Level: All experience levels welcome! Whether you're a veteran or brand new, if you love the noir aesthetic, you'll fit right in.

Vibe: 60% Roleplay & Investigation / 40% Tactical Combat.

[Online] [D&D 5e / 5.5e (2014/2024)] [EST] [Beginner Friendly] Looking for Players | Heavy RP | Collaborative Storytelling | Building the Table Together

Hi!

We’re two players building a long-term D&D group and doing things a little differently.

Instead of starting with a campaign and filling seats, we’re focusing on building the right table first.

Right now, we’re finding a DM whose style aligns with the kind of experience we want to create and then, together, we’ll shape the campaign and recruit players who fit that vision.

That means there isn’t a full campaign pitch yet—and that’s intentional.

What we do know is the kind of table we want:

🎭 Heavy roleplay and character investment
🗺️ Collaborative storytelling and meaningful choices
⚔️ Combat that feels impactful and exciting
💬 Communication and involvement outside of sessions
🌱 Players who support each other’s moments and help create memorable stories together

You do not need tons of experience to apply. New players are absolutely welcome.

Because we’re building from the ground up, we’re using a two-step process:

Step 1: A short application (just 4 questions) to get a feel for playstyle and expectations.
Step 2: Voice Call interviews with selected applicants so we can actually talk and see if everyone clicks.

The questions aren’t tests and there are no correct answers—we’re just trying to build a group with compatible expectations.

If this sounds like your kind of table, send me a message answering these questions:

  1. Name/Age/Time Zone/TTRPG Experience
  2. Tell us about a moment from a TTRPG campaign (or even a story/game/book if you're newer) that has stuck with you. What made it memorable?
  3. How active do you like to be between sessions? What does “being part of the group” look like to you outside of game night?
  4. Imagine another player gets a huge emotional character moment during session and your character isn’t directly involved. What does your ideal participation look like?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

NOTE: If you're a DM interested in this, message me! We are actively looking for THE Dm for us!
