Feels good to be back 😎

Obviously I'm looking for a more permanent fitment solution for the right button cluster, but after a few days shakedown, I'm more than happy with the throttle throw and feel. Feels less twitchy with slightly more spring resistance. 0.9v at rest and 4.0v max. Required no custom controller tweaks.

Feeling guilty

How could something this cheap be so much fun?
I’d think you’d pay 4x as much!! Every ride on this thing is an absolute blast! 😎🏍️👌🏻❤️

Any Legitimate Battery Builder/ Rebuild Service?

I’m noticing decreased range on my e-bike and instead of contributing to e-waste I was wondering if there was a way to replace the generic cells inside.

I’ve looked into doing it myself but the process seems too complex for my DIY abilities.

The battery is for a folding e-bike, as depicted

Story time: An awkward and regretful purchase and a request for battery recharging advice.

Hi all,

I came across a Ryvid anthem that was a "roller" aka bike without a battery for $450 on fb marketplace. I got waaay too excited and when i talked to the seller, he said another guy had reached out to him saying he had a Ryvid battery for the bike that he was wanting $500 for.
In my brain, a Ryvid Anthem for $1k seemed amazing so i impulse bought it, got a bill of sale, but when i called the DMV to figure out how to get a title for it, they tell me it's stolen (obvious conclusion after my excitement calmed down) and to call the police. The police come out and tell me that the bike was actually recovered so they updated it in their system and i'm now going through the process of getting a title from the DMV/MVA.

The issue, is that the battery has been sitting for a bit and feels a little sketchy. Life has been life-ing, so i haven't really had time to start putting the bike back together.

Also, the guy who sold me the battery which did in fact originally belong to the bike told me some of the back story and gave me the contact info for the original owner.

I learned from the original owner that when the bike was stolen and recovered his insurance totaled out the bike, so he doesn't have the title anymore and i can't figure out which state farm agent he sent it to as apparently each agent is their own entity. I seem to have purchased the bike after it was left for the salvage yard to pick up, but was stolen again before the tow truck could get it and the battery seller yanked the battery since the bike was going to a salvage yard anyways. So i bought a stolen, then recovered, then re-stolen bike apparently. But in the police records, the bike is recovered, so i got that going for me!

So when trying to get support from Ryvid, they respond that they can't help me since i'm not matching their records as the original owner, and they don't want to support theft so they're not going to help me. Which is understandable!

Which brings me to my final point, i'd love to save the life of the battery which has been sitting there, but i also don't want to risk a thermal event and i was wondering if y'all knew of a smart way to check the battery health? When i initally got the battery and plugged it in, the fans started up for a moment and then shut off and the lights flashed red continuously which seemed to indicate a cell imbalance, so i just left it there while i waited for support from Ryvie. I attempted to check the voltage of the battery recently after the lights stopped blinking one day and it said 7 V, so i plugged it in for an hour and it went up to 8 V.

Is there any chance of reviving this battery? Can it be successfully and safely recharged up to a decent resting voltage while not installed in the bike while i work on getting the bike ready for the battery installation?

Anywho, thanks for reading this long and convoluted story and for any advice you have on redeeming this bike that needs some love!

Lastly, if there's a technician that feels like talking through the process of restoring this bike with me over a video call, i'd be happy to pay you an hourly rate! Or if someone is local to Baltimore, even better! The controller is also not installed in the bike and the guy i bought it from attempted to fix it up it seems, but also glued a keyed ignition in place of the FOB reader and the display is missing. Again a very regrettable decision that i definitely learned my lesson from, and i figured i'd try to make the best of the situation.

Brake bleeding Schedule

Hey has everyone been bleeding their brakes at 3000 mi as suggested by the manual? I’m getting close and debating whether I should take it to the shop soon or wait until the season ends.

New ASI Controller with Surron Throttle works. Full Shakedown in the AM

Long story short, dropped my bike, pinned throttle on impact. Blew controller and compressed the throttle. Not a warranty issue. User at fault. Replaced throttle for Surron standard (trying to avoid backorder delays) and after over two months of back and forth and sending a non Ryvid ASI BAC8000 controller for flashing (fail) I reached out to the Reddit community, bought and new Ryvid upgrade kit and my bike is finally running again. Now I have to get my controller I shipped (early May) back from Ryvid. I wish I could say they were helpful, but if nothing else they were polite. No replacement parts availability and wrong diagnosis of the issue. Ultimately I was right and the controller needed replacement, not the throttle (apart from cosmetics) and the Surron voltage range works with no additional adjustments. Wasted months waiting, when I should have just asked Reddit users to sell me the part in the first place. Love the bike. Hoping they continue to improve on their support and parts availability logistics.

I'm afraid to ride my Outset!

I have an Outset with only a few hundred miles on it. I was not able to ride it for almost the entire first year I owned it so I just made sure to break-in the battery and charge it properly for longer-term storage. So, it's essentially in like-new condition. For the most part, the bike has never had any major issues and has been an absolute joy to ride.

However, over the last couple months, the bike started doing something very concerning, especially because all these incidents occurred while my 10-year-old son was a passenger on the back.

When pulling away from a stop, the bike would either have no power at all (I could twist the throttle, but there was no acceleration, even though the display remained on and showed no error messages), or it would eventually begin "stuttering." By stuttering, I mean it would repeatedly "go-stop-go-stop..." before finally accelerating normally.

On other occasions, the bike would initially start moving from a stop, then suddenly lose all power and fell into the same "go-stop-go-stop" pattern. On one occasion, the bike would not accelerate at all. Eventually, I powered down the bike and powered it back up before it would accelerate. So far, that has only happened once.

Obviously, this is extremely dangerous. The repeated cycle of complete power loss followed by sudden bursts of power creates a severe lunging effect. My son had to hold on for dear life each time it happened... nevermind my complete embarrassment as other drivers watched me deal with it at a four-way stop or major intersection.

My initial thought was that one of the sensors may be causing it, such as the kickstand sensor. After the first incident, I made a habit of checking the kickstand with my heel before taking off from a stop, and it always seemed to be seated properly. Of course, that doesn't necessarily rule out a problem with the kickstand sensor, but at this point I'm grasping at straws.

I'm wondering if any of you have experienced a similar issue or might have some insight into what could be causing this. Another frustration is that I cannot figure out how to force it to happen, it's completely sporadic, so it's hard to diagnose what might be causing it.

As it stands, I won't take passengers until it is fixed. Hell, I'm almost afraid to ride it solo at this point! I'm also sending a support email to Ryvid.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any tips, advice, help, etc. Cheers!
