Anyway to keep Shaw email without internet? (Moving to Telus)

Have been with Shaw (now Rogers) for home services for nearly 25 years. Currently pay $160 for 2gig internet + TV. Value plan is ending and Rogers won’t budge on any offer other than $220/month for a 2yr plan for the same services.

Telus is offering me $140 for 3gig internet and a similar TV plan with a 5 year price guarantee. This is $80 cheaper per month, so almost $2k cheaper over 2years. Hard to not take this offer, and it’s disappointing Rogers pricing isn’t even remotely close.

But I have several @shaw emails and it will take a few months to move everything over as I assume you lose access to your @shaw email as soon as your internet account is closed? Is there any way to keep paying for just the email for a few months?

Internet Outage Calgary South

After last night's storm, there was an internet outage in the South Calgary community. Online, there is no acknowledgement of any outage, but two separate customer service representatives have confirmed that my entire neighborhood is affected. All Telus services are still available and working perfectly.

They told us the fix would take until next Monday at the very least.

Recurring disconnects on all devices but router still shows connected

I've had a recurring issue going for a couple months now, the connection will drop out completely on all devices (wired PC, all devices on wifi) but the router will still show connected, 90% of the time the router lights won't change and I will have to reset the router. Usually after about 8 minutes it will resume uptime.

I had a tech out in mid may and he thought the splitter to our unit (We're in a 6 condo building) had gone bad and the noise levels were all over the place, he removed the splitter and swapped out the modem to a new one.

The problem disappeared for about a month and then started happening again in the last week and a half. From what I can see, the power levels/SNR on every channel is well within spec, but devices will still lose connection.

Any ideas? I talked to a service rep the other day and she reset some stuff on their end, but I'm assuming I will need a tech out no matter what?

I've kept the modem page open basically non stop, on the last disconnect, the SNR's were all 40+ on the downstream, 30+ on the upstream, powerlevel on down all between -6 and +6, +34 to +43 on the up. Channel 33 (OFDM channel) has a SNR of 0.

sidenote: The xfinity modems have the most useless interface page on the planet

How much are you guys paying for your Shaw Internet in Winnipeg?

I was given an offer of $55 a month for 1GB by a house-to-house sales person, but apparently it was $70 (after discounts) minus $5 for auto-pay, and additional $10 if I have rogers/fido mobile. I didn't have Rogers/Fido so my monthly bill was actually $65. I already told the guy I didn't have Rogers/Fido, but he misrepresented the actual monthly.

Also was told installation and activation was credited, but on my first bill it was only 50% off the activation fee... So in my first month I was billed $156.80 after tax.

Good thing I haven't cancelled Bell MTS yet, so I cancelled Shaw...

My Bell MTS contract is almost up ($50 a month), so I'm still looking for a good deal.
