Category Spending MoM or YoY Trend Report in One Graph?

Hi everyone, quick question about Quicken Simplifi reporting.

Is there a way to compare spending month over month or year over year for a specific category in a single view, ideally as a graph?

I know I can open the same report in two tabs or windows and compare manually, but I am hoping there is a built-in report or setting that shows MoM or YoY trends for one category in one chart. If so, where is it located?

Left This Month - Left where? Why cant I find it?

I have been using Simplifi since Jan after manually dong my budget in a very convoluted excel sheet for years. Its been quite a learning curve, and I feel like I am still learning little things, but this one is driving me nuts... in the spending plan - what is that Left This Month total? For instance, last month, June, it says I have $210.75 left - but where? Its not in any of my accounts... its a surplus left after my incoming and expenses are paid... but where is it? I had originally though I would move that money over to an investment account or something - but... I cant trust that number because I don't know what it means since that $ is NOT in my account. Can anyone set me right?

Can I go back to the records I had two days ago?

I added a savings account yesterday, and now Simplifi just destroyed my financial records altogether. Is there a way to roll back my accounts and transactions to two days ago, or should I just unsubscribe and move on?

I think I might just cancel my subscription

Don't get me wrong, I really like the product when it works. But over the last 2 years I have had so many instances where things completely stop working, some accounts don't show up after linking (HSA investment accounts missing but savings shows up), or account totals refresh but transactions aren't pulled through.

I've always been annoyed by this but in the past these issues were at least resolved in a somewhat reasonable amount of time. It seems like lately support has gone off the rails and can't even be bothered to try anymore. I follow up after weeks or months without an update and I get asked to provide the same screenshots I already provided 2 other times. Or the new one, they require me to schedule a call with someone, who then calls me to schedule ANOTHER call with someone else to go over the issue. And still nothing is resolved.

At this rate I've had this happen so many times I can hardly consider it a reliable finance app. Has anyone else had a similar experience or am I uniquely alone with so many issues?

Best way to handle Vacation funds in Savings Acct?

Howdy everybody,

I am wondering what you all do to track vacation money saved/spent that you keep in a savings account?

I have it set up where we put an amount every month into a savings account through AMEX and then just spend (bought plane tix this month) before and then during vacation from.

I have been using it as a goal, but now im finding that its a bit more clunky than what I feel it needs to be (im having to hide transactions to prevent it thinking I spent 2000 out of nowhere as its getting all weird about transfering then spending, etc.

Do you just unlink the savings and do a flat rollover amount (then if you put more towards it in a month you could just categorize it as an "overage" that rolls over, and then as you use it it balances out? Or do you do it a different way?

Thanks!

Is anyone about as sick of this software as I am?

when it works it works great BUT when it fails it’s unrecoverable, their stupid ledger hiding or transaction deleting shit screwing up their internals messes it all up without you faking things to make it right.

so I had a large transaction, it hit jun 25 (posted not pending), wanted to have it be considered used out of julys budget, easy enough right? change the date to July 1st, then I got a stupid message about it forcing me to change it into a reminder and gee thanks no cancel option there.

well as I’ve had issues before, it ghosted me, my balance is off, it’s not under anything the troubleshooting suggest, no spending plan, NOT even in reminders where it’s supposed to be.

DAMMIT… STOP with the hidden ledger bugs! even resync with bank did not fix this (only screwed with recurring stuff I already set up for that account)

could any software be so aggravating??? I’m almost just tempted to revert to the banks crappy one. ok rant over

How do I automate a recurring set weekly cash expense for lawn care?

I have a lawn guy that cuts my lawn once a week on Thursday. How can I set up an automatic weekly entry in Simplifi to show these transactions?

How do you decide what is safe to spend in Simplifi when pending bills are messy?

I am trying to understand how Simplifi users trust the Spending Plan or cash flow view when real life is messy.

A checking balance can look available while rent, card payments, subscriptions, transfers, and pending transactions are already spoken for. If one connection is stale or a recurring bill is missing, the answer can feel shaky.

For people using Simplifi, what do you check before spending today or this week?

- Spending Plan

- upcoming bills or subscriptions

- projected cash flow

- watchlists or categories

- credit card payoff timing

- manual cushion

- something outside Simplifi

No balances or private details needed. I am just curious which workflow gives you confidence that money is actually available.

Why does Quicken Simplifi only show/import transactions since 2020 for a manual cash account?

I created a new manual Cash account in Quicken Simplifi to track my Amazon Gift Card balance and imported transactions from a CSV.

The CSV contains transactions going back to 2017, but after the import the oldest transaction visible is March 11, 2021. At the top of the register it says:

When I tried adjusting the date filter, Simplifi displayed a message saying:

This makes me wonder whether Simplifi has a hard limit that prevents transactions before 2020 from being imported or displayed.

A few questions:

  1. Does Simplifi have a minimum transaction date of 1/1/2020 for manual accounts?
  2. Were my pre-2020 transactions likely skipped during import, or are they hidden somewhere?
  3. Is there any way to view or import transactions dated before 2020?
  4. Has anyone found a workaround for preserving older historical transactions?

For context, this is a manual Cash account, not a connected bank account.

I've attached screenshots showing:

  • The register saying "Showing Transactions Since 2020"
  • The date filter refusing dates earlier than 12/31/2019

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
