I feel like a fool!

Hello everyone,

I just stumbled onto this subreddit and honestly, I am appalled by how genuinely supportive and great this community is.

I feel like a fool because I’ve spent the last several months trying to bond with abandoned Facebook groups and digging through wonky, ancient Goodreads threads feeling completely isolated.

The activity in this group is revitalizing! I just wanted to introduce myself, JRJ Sellmeyer, the author of The Maw Beneath The Mane. I am absolutely thrilled to learn from all of you. I feel like I have finally found my people!

Hello, I am dark country folk singer-songwriter / producer Homer Doak, and wanted to share my recent release on Bandcamp, "Mule", because hard mustered tunes die in darkness, and I appreciate you very much if you happen to hear it.

I use a field recorder (Zoom H6) run through an old reverb tank and decent Focusrite preamp. I play acoustic fingerstyle and do the vocals and guitar in a single take, then add a little frills here and there in Reaper. I love to record.

The main tracks on the album to highlight are "Hookworm" (Song about my grandpa life who lived through depression and rural poverty, WWII, etc.), "Fail Asleep" (Inspired by a monologue from Joel in The Last Of Us), and "Wondering If" (Just about wondering what could have been).

Thank you and hope to hear from you, any feedback, complaints, compliments.

Leave My Body to the Buzzards - Issue 1

Hello,

I recently self-published the first issue of a four-issue miniseries, a crime thriller that's heavily influenced by Southern Gothic fiction. Faulkner's major books (The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, Absalom! Absalom!) were very influential. I also took inspiration from films such as William Wyler's The Little Foxes and Jezebel, which certainly have a Southern Gothic vibe.

The first issue is free to read at Global Comix. The remaining three issues will also be free.

Southern Gothic Aesthetic?

I like to handmake jewelry in this style and I feel like they fit this aesthetic pretty well so I sometimes market them as being "Southern Gothic". I am worried about mislabeling them though. What do you guys think?
