GK/GS Strategy to remember what I read

Hello everyone!

How can I retain what I study in GK? What methods worked for you to score good?
I am thinking of watching one shot, frb and pyq series from Parmar ssc channel as a way to revise the topics. Is this the right strategy or how should i approach?

Please help! Thank you!

Officer's Friday - Testbook

I feel like shit after looking at my accuracy 🫪🫪.

Analysis :

Reasoning - honestly it was good but made such stupid mistakes. One question tho I was sceptical and put it randomly tbh. The other 3 I failed to get right due to such silly mistakes.

The first one I accidentally put option B instead of A!! It's literally the first question btw 🥀🥀. The other one is 10 ig. In a hurry I selected the option SWQUW instead of SWQWU. The third one I thought they were asking relation btw Aravind and Krishna instead of rohit 🫠🫠. But yes it's good overall.

GA - I didn't expect much in the first place but uh it doens't feel so good to fall to 20's after scoring around 30 last week. Lots of scope for improvement.

Quant - Quant too I made 2 very stupid mistakes. One was 4th question where I didn't notice that they asked average after 12th innings and selected 60 which is average after 11 innings. Similarly I didn't notice the word perfect square in question 7. Those two I got wrong and 1 I didn't attempt.

English - English felt a bit bizarre today. Especially that 18th question 😭🙏. Nothing to sneeze at means , something u can't look down on but the options all seem like opposite. So I felt like it was a mistake and was supposed to refer to antonym and chose not important. The answer is correct but the explanation looks shit!!

I added that too on here 6th image.Share insights if u think I could use any.

Conclusion:

Have to practice more of reasoning and quant to ensure no such silly mistakes happen again or atleast not this often. GA need to be thorough with the prep. English revise concepts of grammar and upgrade my vocab.

Need your suggestion and help for beginner

Took my first mock test tier 1 without any preparation. Any suggestions and help how to begin my preparation journey. First thing should i go for offline coaching as my parents are keeping pressure to go offline coaching. But i have little fear to go out and be in a class of 300 people. If online coaching whats the best way? Thinking to give the exam this year.

Olive Board live

When someone asked me to try olive board I didn't expect their mocks to be this easy. Honestly I felt like even pyps were harder than this. The questions were too basic and surface level, not to mention the fact that it doesn't even have sectional timer.

Testbook is disappointing in some aspects such as UI, website maintanence and customer support but atleast it's mocks are good. Idk tho if it's just this week test which is on easier side or it's the same level every week . Gotta try over the next week too.

Is this the right approach? (Details in Body)

I am new to CGL, so this is what I am planning to do:

  • Quant ki I found a YT playlist, I am doing those videos
  • Reasoning ki just questions solve chestu, edaina raka pote YT lo concept vetukutunna
  • English is quite descent ipati daka rasina 4-5 mocks lo 35-40 vachindi. Vocab kosam edaina suggest cheyandi
  • GK I am just reading lucent (only Polity and Biology complete chesina so far). After notification Parmar vi Montly CA videos chudam ani plan.

Inka edaina cheyala?

Officer's Friday - Mega Test

Yet another mock but this time after a Good rest for a week while keeping up with prep at my own pace.

Analysis :

Reasoning - I did score decently ig. I was too stuck up on GA that I neglected reasoning over the past week . I need to make sure that I won't make the same mistake and keep in touch ig. But yes It's manageable.

Quant - working on the basics again and practicing calculations did help me improve my speed of solving ig. I feel content with my score in maths.

English - English while I did great there were a couple of questions where I was a bit troubled and Yes RC too but since I have 15 whole mins I took my sweet time to answer.

GA - Honestly it feels really good doing better in GA after such long struggle and sleepless nights 😭🙏.

Working on polity and economics which I already was familiar about helped me boost the score ig! Also this paper was a bit on easier side to me as they asked about 3 questions on sports, 2 on cricket and 1 on chess. I could have been in trouble if they asked something like basketball, volleyball, Judo which I have noticed in some other mocks and pyqs. Also the questions were bit generic and guessable too.

Ig I am riding a bit on luck here . But yes hopefully I can reciprocate the same performance in GA a bit more consistently as I progress through prep.

Conclusion:

To keep this performance up I have to make sure to work on these regularly instead of slacking off .

For reasoning I need to make sure the practice is Regular, need to keep up with same level of prep in GA and make my base stronger in math. English work on my Grammar and RC.
