Hi all, I’ll be visiting some family in Taunton for a few days in July with my partner.

Just wondering whether anyone has any recommendations for places nearby that are reasonably accessible by public transport (we won’t have a car). I’ve had a look online and can see some of the big hitters; Exeter, Bath, Bristol etc. Is there anywhere more local that you think would be worth a visit? Things such as particularly nice towns/villages, buildings, pubs, nature. Any recommendations for things in Taunton itself are most welcome also.

Your local knowledge would be much appreciated!

Bit of a random question, does anyone know if the bins weren't collected because of the heatwave? I've probably missed something and couldn't see anything online

I'm going to be living in taunton soon and I want to know what the alt/punk/rock/goth scene is. Where are the places to see a show? Are there punk-vibe pubs to go drink at? How do the public react to alt dressed people? Anything else I should know? Thanks in advance
