TBATE Reaction Fic — Starting From Volume 8

TBATE Reaction Fic — Starting From Volume 8

A gentle silence settled between the three of them.

They watched Tessia sitting between Virion and her parents. Cynthia and Rinia sat nearby, along with the Leywins and the Twin Horns.

Regis glanced between them.

“Plus, she also has a nice pair of—”

“Shut up, Regis!” the father-daughter duo exclaimed.

“No fun…” Regis grumbled as he looked away.

“On that note…” he said.

Arthur and Sylvie turned toward him.

“Hmm?”

“What are we going to do about that bastard?”

The two blondes followed his gaze toward a particular Scythe.

Nico occasionally glanced toward Tessia.

Those glances did not sit well with Arthur.

Nor Sylvie.

Nor Regis.

Arthur remained conflicted about his former friend.

“I’m not sure yet—”

"First we chastise with a blazing hot iron rod, or maybe an aether stick with destruction, then pierce him through the jaw with a hook and hang him on the Alacriyan town square right after skinning him alive head to toe and scrub a few dozen lemons and sea salt," Sylvie said calmly.

Regis and Arthur froze.

Their heads slowly turned toward her.

Sylvie was smiling.

Calmly.

Happily.

Sweetly.

‘Goddamn…’ Regis thought.

‘I…’ Arthur found himself at a complete loss for words.

Sylvie tilted her head.

“Any problems?”

Arthur blinked, attempting to form a response.

Before he could speak, Regis placed a paw on Arthur’s thigh.

“Nope! Not at all!” he said cheerfully.

He was completely in favour of the idea.

Sylvie’s smile brightened.

“It’s a plan, then!”

Arthur’s eyes darted between them.

‘Well…he does kind of deserve it.’

A theory I think might get confirmed in the lore drops

So since we’re getting some new lore I’d like to voice a theory I’ve had for a while but since no new content was coming out for tbate I had no real reason to post. I think this theory could have a high likelihood of ether being confirmed or disproven by these lore drops so I’d like to take credit for it if I’m right.

So for my theory in short, I think the deva played a hand in making the natural beasts. Now I don’t think making the natural beast is the soul thing they did but I they are at least a byproduct of the deva’s medaling. In ether case I think they played a hand in their making.

Now why do I think this. Well first we know the deva and the natural beast were around before the removal of epheotus because of Arthur’s conversation with kezess in V11. Also TM has never confirmed when the natural beasts came about So it’s not impossible in premise.

Second how the deva are described and what they did are fit well with how the natural beasts are described. Here’s what is said by kothan about them “And beings of light descended, bringing with them magic unimagined. Bringing with them power too terrible to behold. And they called themselves deva, and they, in their power, were terrible and unimaginable. They marked the world with their power, and then they left, never to return.” So this description describes what they did as effecting the world itself not necessarily something more straightforward like killing a bunch of people. Now I want to bring up how Verhun describes the natural beast to Arthur. He says “You know, of course, of the walking mountain, Geolus? This was something like that: a force of nature, a living act of creation. Aquinas, the World Serpent” verhun doesn’t describe natural beast as mere beings of the world but more like they are a fundamental part of it. If the natural beast are a part of the world and the deva had a hand in effecting the world then its not unrealistic to say these things may be connected. So these descriptions makes it seem as though these two things are connected.

My third reason has to due with their likely inspiration. So the natural beasts are likely inspired from monsters described in the Bible. I made a whole post explaining why I think this but in short Aquinas is the leviathan described in Job 3:8 and Geolus is the behemoth described in Job 40:15–24. Now why does this matter. Well these monsters are talk about in Job to show the power of God(now that’s not the only reason but it’s the one we care about) so just as God made these monsters to show his power perhaps TM is trying to say the deva made the natural beasts for the same reason.

A good finale piece of evidence is in how the asura’s view the natural beasts as a whole. It’s not an understatement to say the natural beasts are held in high regard. Every clan head has talked about them like they are far above anything seen today. Them being held in so high regard and them being stronger than say the modern asuras would make them being merely a product of the deva more interesting and would explain the fear surrounding them.

So overall I think this theory has good bones and confirming it would only make a potential continuation more interesting or at the least make any bonus chapter focusing on ether the deva or natural beasts more interesting. But thats just my opinion comment your thoughts and any theories you want confirmed or disproven in the lore drops/new chapters.
