Tesla Map vs Google Maps in Dubai

I don't know any of you have this problem while driving in Dubai but my Tesla's map has always show GPS location issue. I understand because of recent things GPS are not working properly but when I open google maps on my phone it works much better. If there is an interruption or spoofing, I dont know for all GPSs then why google maps work and not tesla's GPS?

Driving a Tesla from UAE to Muscat – charging + mortgage car questions

Hi guys,

Has anyone driven a Tesla from the UAE to Muscat recently?

A few questions:

  1. Which route is best for charging? Any reliable charging stops along the way?

  2. My car is still under bank mortgage/finance — do I need an NOC to cross into Oman?

  3. My insurance already includes Oman coverage. Do I still need to get any extra document or certificate from the insurance company before crossing?

Would really appreciate any recent experience or tips. Thanks :)

legality of using the mobile connector in abu dhabi/al ain

I live in an apartment building in al ain where I got the permission to install a wall charger but after bringing inspectors turns out it will cost me around 9000 dirhams for the wirings + the TAQA EV meter and thats absolutely not worth it for me to spend on for a place i will temporarily live in so i was thinking of just using the mobile connector and installing a single phase 32A wall outlet from my flat's DB but my question is, is it legal to charge my vehicle that way in Al ain/Abu dhabi? i heard that chargers here needs to be registered and an EV meter must be installed or i will be fined, does that includes the mobile connectors as well?

Tesla Maps seriously needs a UI overhaul for Maps/navigation like this

https://preview.redd.it/m1h0mlyeo11h1.png?width=2096&format=png&auto=webp&s=4666d96b1682c81048471095cff88dbc3f4d7d62

I genuinely feel Tesla could take its navigation experience to an entirely different level if it adopted a more modern UI direction like this.

Google Maps’ latest Android Auto redesign looks incredibly refined — immersive 3D mapping, cleaner information hierarchy, elegant multitasking, and a much more fluid integration of navigation, music, and communication.

What makes this even more compelling is that Tesla already has the perfect hardware for it. The large central display, responsive software architecture, and minimalist cabin design create the ideal environment for a truly next-generation navigation experience.

Tesla’s interface is still among the best in the automotive industry, without question. But seeing concepts and implementations like this makes the current Maps experience feel slightly dated in comparison — especially from a visual and interaction standpoint.

Features like:

  • richer 3D route visualization
  • adaptive widgets
  • smarter split-screen interactions
  • more contextual traffic intelligence
  • seamless media and messaging integration

…would make the driving experience feel significantly more immersive and premium.

Software is becoming one of the biggest differentiators in modern vehicles, and this is exactly the kind of evolution I’d love to see Tesla embrace in future updates.

GPS spoofing causing emergency braking?

Anyone else experiencing this? Driving to Abu Dhabi on the weekend, had cruise control activated and twice the car randomly slammed the brakes on when no other cars were around, when checking the map it clearly thought I was in a random residential area. First time I thought just an odd quirk but then a few minutes later it did it again. Not used it since. Seriously dangerous!

4-6 Year Old Tesla Model 3 Ownership Costs

Hello Tesla owners of Dubai!
I am a mega car enthusiast who (a few years ago) would never have considered owning an EV. However, the benefits are increasingly making me question the 'hatred' towards EVs, and I am considering buying my first one.

I haven't dived deep into forums yet, but from what I have looked at, I haven't seen so much information on slightly older Model 3 ownership costs. From y'alls experience, what is it like owning a 4-6 year old Tesla Model 3 with 80-150k kilos? What problems have y'all faced? What are insurance costs like? Where do you service your cars and get parts for them? What are the common challenges in UAE heat?

Thanks in advance for your advice!!

Smart Paint Repair?

Hey guys,

Has anyone done Smart Paint Repair recently? If so, which garage would you recommend?

I really do not wish to paint their entire bumper and fender over these stone chips and garage rash.

Thanks in advance!

battery depreciating faster than usual

I have a Tesla model three 2023 LFP battery in dubai. Home charging only.

I tend to charge once or twice a week when the battery has dropped 50% or below and then I charge it up to 100%.

8 months ago, I ran a battery health test for the first time, and it was at 89%

Today I ran another health test and it is at 87%

2% drop in the third year within six months seems higher than usual.

anyone who faced something similar and what can I do to slow down the depreciation?

Why doesn’t Tesla Sentry Mode alarm actually go off?

Hey guys,

I’ve got a Model Y LR AWD Juniper and something about Sentry Mode has been really frustrating me lately.

I’ve had 3 separate incidents where people have interacted with the car in ways that definitely should’ve triggered some kind of alarm:

- Someone climbed onto the hood

- Someone leaned against the rear of the car

- Someone sat on the car and blocked the side camera for quite a while

In all cases, Sentry Mode recorded the footage properly, and during one incident I even saw the Tesla lights pulsing/reacting in person. But the car never triggered the alarm, never honked, and I never received any notification on the app.

I reported this to Tesla and was told this is considered “normal” because the activity didn’t meet the threshold required to trigger the alarm/honk.

I honestly don’t understand that logic. I’ve seen plenty of ICE cars set off their alarms for much less, yet people can literally climb or sit on my car and nothing happens besides passive recording. It’s getting pretty frustrating.

Has anyone else experienced this with their Tesla? Is this just how Sentry Mode works now?
