Child support modification/signing over rights.

My son’s dad and I split when he was about 8 months old, we both went to the Attorney General and file for child support. I got primary custody.
While in court the judge wanted him to pay almost $900 each month(20%), my son’s dad talked me into bringing it down because he has a previous child, I felt bad and caved. So he only pays $300 and has been for the past 3 years.
He hasn’t gotten a bed for our son, no clothes, he does not help with anything other than keeping him the nights I have to work(I had to go overnight because I couldn’t afford daycare alone), his apartment is infested with German roaches, and he lives very unsanitary. He makes $6 more than I do, so I just never understood why he couldn’t do it but I have been able to and I’m just scraping by. Our son is autistic with a very specific appetite and still in pull ups.

I requested for a child support modification and I guess he got a call today, he then told me that he would sign over his rights because he could not afford our son.

I’ve already got a plan for if he does sign over his rights, but is it that easy to do in Texas? Can he just relinquish his rights like that?

Any advice on what to expect in a modification or even this kind of situation would help! Thanks in advance!!

What kind of lawyer do I need for a healthcare issue?

I’m currently expecting and had lab work done in April for several things including STDs. I recently moved & had to get a new OBGyn. My new provider requested my lab results from my previous provider and received one that said I tested positive for an STD. Immediately after receiving this result my new provider submitted a prescription for me and had someone from her office call me to explain the results. After speaking with my new provider I was informed these results should have been relayed to me long ago. I’m almost due and had I not received these results I would have been putting my baby at risk. This has caused me an incredible amount of distress and I want to do something about this legally but I’m unsure if I have a case or what kind of lawyer I would need. Going through the Texas Referral Service I got connected with medical malpractice lawyers but they said they could not help. Is there anything that can be done? I’m extremely stressed over this situation and I’m getting tested again to verify the lab results.

[TX] Is a lawyer absolutely necessary to request 100%?

Here is the situation:

1 The couple is not married, share a 5 year old son.

My friends' ex boyfriend suspected of alleged cheating a month ago and kicked out the mother of his child and 5 year old toddler back to her parents home in a drunken stupor after he stole her phone, police was called. He has no proof of any cheating and friend's testimony is that it never happened. She was a full time stay at home mother.

Ever since he kicked her out he:

  • Threatened to release intimate videos, audios and pictures of her to family, friends and neighbors to show who she is. (she has screenshot proof of this)
  • Threatens nightly to go to court and request 100% custody of the child and that he will gain it based on her leaving her son with her grandmother to attend a graduation party for a friend for the duration of 8 hours (she swiftly returned to her son right after) - She has no audio call recording of these threats.
  • He does not have a job, he got fired this month and quit two separate jobs he was hired into.
  • My friend was not allowed to work because he was jealous so she has no work experience and is now looking for a job for the first time since she became a mother.
  • He threatens to unalive himself with the gun he owns weekly to her. (she also has no written proof of this, only happened through phone calls or in person)
  • He is bipolar and an alcoholic and every time he calls her she is left in tears. Last night he called her 71 times after she refused to answer. (she has a screenshot of the 71 calls back to back)
  • He threatens her and is forcing her to share the baby boy on a 4/3 day split every week. He picked up the boy yesterday after apologizing profusely for the 71 calls and says he wants to file for court jointly with her.

She is terrified. Walking on egg shells and she is afraid that if she files alone, goes to court, requests 100% custody of her son based on the above, that she will lose because she has no money for a real lawyer.

What is the best course of action for her? Google is not helping me project a clear path on how she should proceed to prove the father is not fit to be a parent and she is too afraid of his reaction if she does go ahead and files "without him" since he mentions the gun he owns frequently.

Thank you!

Advice on breaks and lunches for delivery drivers

So I'm a Amazon delivery driver and my employer says that they count drive time to my next location as part of my break. I find this odd as I'm not on break but driving to a delivery location which in my eyes is working and they consider it not and made me update my pay to take off that time is this legal?

I just need some clarification

My father went to court and this was the agreement that the "pro-bono" lawyer provided to him signed. Does this mean that the tenant (my father) is 100% evicted and must vacate by 08/20/26 or that it's not final and follow up can be done to dispute on 08/21/26? I haven't gotten a straight answer and need to know if I have to start packing.
