Hey everyone!

I've seen quite a few posts and comments from people looking for anime fans, gaming buddies, or just people to hang out with around Trier. Since there didn't seem to be one dedicated community, I decided to create one.

I've made a Discord server (and a WhatsApp group for easier meetup planning) for anyone in and around Trier who's into anime, manga, gaming, or simply wants to meet new people.

The goal is simple:

• 🎮 Find people to game with
• 🍿 Host anime/movie watch parties
• ☕ Organize café meetups and other local hangouts
• 💬 Chat and make new friends

Everyone's welcome: students, locals, internationals, or anyone new to Trier.

I am an international student at the Trier uni, urgently looking for a job to sustain myself, I am looking for odd job jobs in english as I am a beginner at German and learning, however it is not good enough for a job.

I have tried multiple job boards, apps, and 40 stores/restaurants in the city but no luck

If anyone has any leads for any kind of job in english or could help me out i'd be super grateful🙏🏻

Ich habe das letztens mal für mich überschlagen, weil ich oft nur höre: “Luxemburg ist billiger”.

Beispiel:

50 L tanken

12 ct/L Unterschied

= 6 € Ersparnis

Wenn der Umweg nach Wasserbillig vielleicht 4 km extra sind, kostet der Umweg grob 50 Cent Sprit.

Dann bleiben ca. 5,50 € übrig.

Bei 20 L sieht es aber anders aus:

20 L × 12 ct/L = 2,40 €

Da lohnt sich derselbe Umweg kaum noch.

Meine grobe Faustregel wäre:

- 40–50 L + unter 5 km Umweg: meistens ja

- 20 L oder 10+ km Umweg: eher nein

- wenn man sowieso Richtung Lux fährt: fast immer besser

Rechnet ihr das irgendwie, oder fahrt ihr einfach aus Gewohnheit nach Wasserbillig?

In 1.5 weeks we'll be visiting Trier & it looks like it is getting Hot!! So i was wondering if People have advice for some nice outdoors activities and swimming options?

I'm about to move to Trier with my spouse, which I'm definitely excited about. I don't have a lot of the usual concerns (got an apartment, speak passable German, have lived in Germany for a few years now). BUT as an almost 50 year old lesbian who works from home I'm a wee bit concerned about becoming a hermit... Any advice for getting out and meeting people? I love reading, I'm in a choir here so I'll be looking for a new one in Trier, I'm generally fairly nice and shower at least once a day. I speak English fluently, I've lived all over the place and am open minded. I can bake brownies. I like board games and a drink and chat and generally just meeting people. I've joined the usual suspects, the expat facebook pages and meetup, but maybe there's something I've missed. Or maybe there's something you're into that I might be into too? And if you've got any choir recommendations, that'd be awesome! I don't necessarily want to only hang out with people my own age, but equally i don't want to intrude on spaces that aren't meant for me. Thanks in advance for any tips!

I moved to Trier a little while ago to do my Master's, and I'd love to meet some new people and make some friends in the city.

I'm currently looking for people to play games together. I'm down to play multiplayer games like Apex Legends or Call of Duty. I also play a lot of TEKKEN 7, Mortal Kombat 11, and Need for Speed, so if you're into fighting or racing games, that's a huge plus!

Besides gaming and studying, I’m a big anime fan (especially One Piece) and I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop.

My German is "okay" right now (I'm around a B1/B2 level and still learning!), so I'm happy to practice my German or just chat in English. If you're down to game online or maybe grab a coffee sometime, feel free to send me a message or leave a comment!

My application to the University of Trier has reached the final approval stage, and I’m hoping I’ll receive my admission soon.

I’ve been trying to learn more about Trier before moving there, and I have a few questions for people who live there or have studied there.
I’ve heard that finding a student job in Trier can be a bit difficult. If that’s true, which nearby cities are realistic for commuting to a part-time job? Is daily commuting common, and which places would you recommend?

Another thing I’m really excited about is traveling. I noticed that Luxembourg and even France are very close to Trier. Once I’m settled and earning a bit from a student job, would it be realistic and affordable to do weekend trips every now and then? Is crossing the border generally straightforward, or are there any document or visa-related hassles for an international student with a German residence permit?

I’d also love to hear about Trier’s overall vibe.
I’m someone who loves autumn, photography, cozy streets, cafés, and exploring cities. At the same time, I also enjoy modern places, good nightlife, and having interesting spots to walk around in during the evenings. Does Trier have that kind of atmosphere, or does it feel too quiet? What do you personally like (or dislike) about living there?

Hello, meine Band und ich spielen Samstags beim Altstadtfest.

Wir sind auf der Bühne am Kornmarkt von ca. 16-18 Uhr zu finden. Vielleicht hat ja jemand Lust vorbeizuschauen, denn ich bezweifle, dass dort viele Leute sind weil 40 Grad?????

Aber ich war auch noch nie aufm Altstadtfest also wirds ja vielleicht auch gar nicht so wenig.

Naja falls sich wer eine chaotische Coverband namens Out of Time geben will, wisst ihr Bescheid wo ihr uns findet😄

Ich komme ursprünglich aus einem Teil von Deutschland in dem man sehr viele Seen/Baggerseen findet in denen man auch FKK baden kann, gibt es hier auch sowas?

Und gibt es generell(mit Öffis zugängliche) schöne und nicht so gut besuchte Bademöglichkeiten hier?

Wir waren jetzt im Nord und Südbad, die zwar ganz schön sind aber natürlich meistens viel zu voll und am Holzerather See, der aber ziemlich klein ist.

Ich brauche hilfe. Ich würde gern sterben aber ich schaue immer wieder auf meine Adern. Ich schreie nicht nach Aufmerksamkeit. Ehrlich nicht aber ich habe meinem bruder versprochen mir niemals was anzutun und dran halte ich mich auch.

ich muss in Trier dieses Wochenende sein, aber es ist zu warm! Ich brauche ein cafe, wo ich kann für ~2/3 Stunde mit mein Hund sitzen - mit Klimaanlage! Mein Hund überhitzt leicht. Ideal, wo ich kann Mittagessen auch haben (ich bin vegetarisch). Können ein Lokal einen Café empfehle? Bitte!!
