Hi guys, this is my first post in this community <3 I just listened to Troye's new song and I've been scratching my brain for the musical influences that the instrumental is drawing from consciously or not. My first thought was Boards of Canada (a bit of Music Has The Right To Children, but mostly Geogaddi really) but I feel like there's gotta be more.
I'm obviously digging the production and I'm looking for your thoughts on the influences just to scratch this itch: really looking forward to the album now!!
Allie X is back at the writing team behind Troye Sivan's latest project. Allie X is a known collaborator of the gay artist throughout the years discounting the past rollouts "In a Dream" and "Something to Give Each Other" but she's back at it again!
What are your thoughts about it? Are you Xcited? What are your favorite Allie X song writing credits?
I love Troye's new song; just thought I'd point out a possible influence. Do y'all hear it or am I way off?
Sooo… the new single is out and I’ve seen there’s a division in the fandom- some people love it some don’t, which is totally fine! I’m here to share my own thoughts on the release, personally I feel like it’s the perfect follow up to “Something to Give Each Other”! Kinda feels like an after party vibe, focusing on your loved ones and appreciating the community you’ve built around you for years! Also LOVE the late 90’s/ early 00’s vibes - definitely fits Troye and I cannot wait to see this whole era unravel! Already pre-ordered the signed CD!
What are yall thoughts on the new release? It definitely feels like a great introduction to the new era and I’m so curious to see how it unfolds!
... but that didn't hit in the slightest for me. I don't know how else to say it, but my face was literally blank the entire song. I... I think I genuinely hated the spoken word of the song.
To be completely honest kind of let down. Im really hoping the next single gets me excited, and that the album cooks... but I cant lie, that just made me a whole lot less hopeful for this album.
Edit: The lyrics also just... were awful. Same with Charli singing "real incestuous vibes", even if ironic, or humorous; I can't enjoy a song that casually says "cum stain on her dress" (especially whilst in spoken word), along with "she takes down an incel on the internet".
The cum line was tolerable, but hearing incel so casually in a song... just honestly pissed me off.
Cause song doesn’t represent me as a woman. Like at allll. It’s actually pretty insulting. Cum on her dress and contouring her tits? Empowering stuff really, that doesn’t represent any other female I know either. I don’t even want to get into all the other twisted stuff in the video. It’s sad that all a guy has to do is cross dress for everyone to start gagging. And now they’re allowing him to define womanhood. It’s sad.
Hi! I’m looking for movies, photographs, others, that could’ve been on the moodboard for Troye Sivan’s « She’s the Best » music video!
I really resonated with the aesthetic and want to find more stuff in that lane !
Queer/Glam/Showgirly/Analog/ Unique features/ Characters..
Let me know if anyone has ideas ! Thanks
I used to be so excited to listen to a new Charli xcx album, and I liked Rock Music cause it was interesting, but then it became clear that the entire album was going to be in a very similar style and kind of boring, so I just didn’t listen to it. I really hope this is the only song like this on the new album, but the fact that the album name and cover are based on this song scares me. What would’ve been so bad about releasing another pop banger or ballad?
honestly, i wasn’t completely sold on it at first, but after giving it another listen it really started to click with me. i think what made it finally resonate was how much it reminded me of my female friends — as a gay man, i’ve always been surrounded by girls, and genuinely, they’re some of the most important people in my life. i started picturing all of them while listening to it and suddenly the whole song felt so much more personal and nostalgic, like a little ode to all the girls i’ve loved and who have always been there for me. i really love the rhythm and the lyrics, and i think the music video captures that feeling so well too. definitely a grower for me, but once it clicked, i really, really enjoyed it.
(i had to censor it because of reddit lol) but what do we think about the cover and name?
just watched the mv on tiktok live!
I’m really intrigued on why he chose Nicole Kidman to star on it, I honestly loved it but I wish he talked more about it on live
I can’t even fathom the musicality of Troye since his debut. It’s gayness, queerness, and living unapologetically represented through his music.
Whoever he’s working with and however he does it, it can’t be described as anything other than perfection.
He can just talk the lyrics of this new song and yet it’s still more musically powerful and beautiful than any other artist. The sounds of this song is insane.
HE IS LITERALLY JUST TALKING AND I WANT TO PLAY IT A MILLION MORE TIMES
PLS SOMEONE LEAK THE ADDRESS 😭😭😭😭 I JUST WANNA SEE HIM AND TRY TO GET MY VINYL SIGNED 😭😭
thematically i think it will be about queer culture in new york, more on the lower class side. queer people in sex work potentially? i wonder how he will execute it though musically. the colors on the music video are on the darker side, will he stick to pop or switch genres? i don't know honestly and i like that. i'm sooooo excited for the first single tonight
