Showcase: G13 Haze
G13 Haze
OLD SCHOOL STYE
G13 Haze is one of those names that comes with decades of cannabis history attached to it. Built around the legendary G13 and classic Haze genetics, it represents an era when cultivars were passed around through cuts, seed banks and grower circles. a time when genetic records were far less standard.
Then there is the G13 story.
From what I’ve heard and found while researching, this is the story that seems to follow G13 around. I definitely wouldn’t call it confirmed fact though, so take it with a grain of salt. (If you’ve heard a different version or have any interesting info that adds to or conflicts with this, let us know) is that the original G13 was supposedly connected to a U.S. government cannabis research program before a cutting somehow made its way into the underground growing community. There is no solid evidence confirming that story, and the exact ancestry of the original G13 remains unclear, but the legend became permanently attached to the cultivar.
This specific cut is G13 Haze, not straight G13. Based on the information we have on the cut, it comes from the G13 × Hawaiian Haze line, bringing the old school G13 name together with classic Haze genetics. So while the history of G13 itself gets pretty murky, what we’re showcasing here is specifically G13 Haze and our particular cut of it.
And this batch has the terps to back that up.
THE COOL GUY AT THE PARTY: TERPINOLENE
This batch tested at 4.18% total terpenes, but the real popular guy is Terpinolene at 1.67%.
That means around 40% of the entire measured terpene profile is terpinolene alone.
For perspective, the next highest terpene is Ocimene at 0.74%. Terpinolene is present at more than twice that concentration.
That kind of dominance gives the profile a very distinct identity. Terpinolene is commonly associated with the sharp, fresh and complex aromatic character found in a number of classic Haze family cultivars, often presenting combinations of pine, citrus, herbs, floral sweetness and spice.
Here it is backed by a pretty stacked supporting cast:
Terpinolene: 1.6668%
Ocimene: 0.7417%
Beta-Myrcene: 0.4817%
Limonene: 0.2566%
Trans-Caryophyllene: 0.2113%
Beta-Pinene: 0.1226%
Farnesene: 0.1126%
Guaiol: 0.1022%
Together they create the unmistakably old school profile described as:
Citrus rind. Pine. Spices. Rubber. Funk.
THE NUMBERS
Classification: Sativa dominant hybrid
Lineage: G13 × Haze
Total THC: 24.22%
Total CBG: 1.65%
Total Terpenes: 4.18%
Dominant Terpene: Terpinolene = 1.67%
The cannabinoid profile stands out beyond THC as well, with 1.65% total CBG adding another interesting layer to this batch.
A PIECE OF CANNABIS HISTORY
a lot of Modern cannabis is packed with Gelato, Cookies and dessert line genetics which is always great but for some people, the G13 Haze comes from a completely different chapter.
Compared to our Gelato 33, these two cuts couldn’t be more different if they tried. Totally different profiles, structure, aroma, the whole deal.
Its appeal is the opposite of chasing whatever flavor profile happens to be popular right now. It is a throwback to the sharp, and immediately recognizable profiles that made Haze genetics famous in the first place. I always say that the G13 Haze reminds me of stuff my father use to grow on the farm, it hits all those nostalgic vibes for me and I hope it does for you.
