Canoeing the lower tummel

A clean line down Sawmill Rapid on the Lower Tummel in Scotland. 🛶💦

Paddling the canoe into the main flow, setting the angle early and carrying the right speed into the rapid. The key was holding the line through the main feature, staying active with the paddle and keeping the boat running straight through the strongest water.

The Lower Tummel is a classic Scottish whitewater stretch, running through Perthshire between Pitlochry and the Tummel Valley. The river has a mix of technical rapids, fast-flowing sections and bigger features, with steep wooded banks and some impressive Highland scenery along the way.

The area around the Tummel is well known for its rivers, lochs and outdoor activities, making it a great part of Scotland for whitewater paddling and exploring.
