Having an American passport doesn't make you better than your people. 🇭🇹

The hypocrisy and lack of empathy of it all, smdh. There's a trend going around right now that I'm not going to dignify by naming it.

And it's so crazy to me because MOST of us got U.S. citizenship through birth, through marriage, and some went through the same exact process as Haitian TPS holders. And there's a lot that are still waiting. And now, unfortunately about 300k just lost their legal status.

But none of that makes any one of us more Haitian or better than the other.

This is the same problem we've always hadin our country: Colorism, classism, credentialism. We built those hierarchies in Haiti and carried that mentality straight into the diaspora. And this is exactly why we can never come together as a people to build something real. The diaspora was never supposed to be a hierarchy. We were supposed to be the ones who remembered where we came from, even after we made it somewhere else.

But a lot of you forgot how you got here. How your parents got here. How your grandparents got here. That's what all of these TPS holders and Biden parolees were trying to do. Find a better life for themselves and their families, and some of you find that funny.

Seeing people have a job one day to feed their families and put a roof over their heads, or sending money back home to help out their families, and the next day nothing. That breaks my heart. Because even people with status can be affected by this. Imagine how it feels to be hopeless and stuck with nothing. Misfortune can happen to anyone.

The Haitians that are mocking Haitian TPS holders on social media should be ashamed of themselves. And they shouldn't get to claim Haiti when we're in the World Cup or whenever Haitians are doing something great, they can keep that same energy and stay on that side.

If this administration had gotten away with overturning birthright citizenship and denaturalization, I would have loved to see who will be waiving US passports now. So pathetic and embarrassing making fun of people's misfortunes.

That crab in the bucket mentality, boy I can NEVER wrap my head around it, because I try my best to always lookout for my fellow brothers and sisters.

This is exactly why they use our own people to exploit us. Because of this same energy and mentality.

Ya'll sellouts frfr.

Making fun of TPS holders right after 300,000 Haitians lost their legal right to work and live in this country isn't funny, it's a betrayal.

Nou tout se Ayisyen. Act like it. 🇭🇹
