Two Women from Arunachal Pradesh Conquer Mt Kun in Historic Himalayan Climb
Team SPM IAS Academy extends heartfelt congratulations to January Tali and Hachu Lombo of Arunachal Pradesh for successfully summiting Mt Kun (7,077 m) in the Zanskar region of Ladakh on July 27.
Mt Kun is one of India’s most demanding technical Himalayan climbs. Out of 9 climbers in the expedition, only 4 reached the summit. Two of them were these remarkable women from Arunachal Pradesh — January Tali from Yingkiong, Upper Siang, and Hachu Lombo from Anini, Dibang Valley.
For January Tali, this achievement is even more inspiring. She completed six Himalayan peaks in just two weeks, including double summits on UT Kangri (6,080 m) and Mentok Kangri-III (6,126 m).
Governor KT Parnaik hailed the feat as “a moment of immense pride.” Moreover, both climbers will receive official summit certificates from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi.
Their journey carries a powerful message for every aspirant: whether it is a Himalayan peak or a life goal, the summit belongs to those who take the first step and keep climbing with grit.
Congratulations, January Tali and Hachu Lombo. You have made Arunachal Pradesh and the entire Northeast proud.
