LX Family Planner — a self-hosted family OS for calendars, tasks, meals, chat and kid profiles
Hi everyone 👋
I've been working on LX Family Planner — a self-hosted family organizer that bundles the stuff families actually need into one app, instead of spreading it across five. It runs on Docker / Unraid / Umbrel / Proxmox / plain Node.js, MIT-licensed.
What it does:
- 📅 Shared calendars with reminders
- ✅ Tasks & chores with approval workflow for kids
- 🛒 Shopping lists (incl. Bring! integration)
- 🍝 Meal planning & recipes
- 💬 Family chat with optional guest invites
- 📁 Family files / media
- 👶 Child profiles with playful missions & rewards
- 🐾 Pet profiles (care & health only)
- 🔔 Notifications via Gotify / ntfy
- 🌐 DE + EN interface, Android app available
Why self-hosted: All data stays on your own server. Adults get a calm planning workspace, parents keep control over approvals/integrations, and there's role-based access so kids see what they should see.
Integrations: Nextcloud, Home Assistant, Bring!, Gotify, ntfy

- 🌐 Live demo: https://familie.laxxx-lab.de/
- 🐳 Docker:
docker pullghcr.io/laxxx-lab/lx-family-planner:latest - 📦 Also in: Unraid Community Applications, Umbrel App Store
- 📱 Android APK in the README
Quick start (Docker):
yaml
services:
lx-family-planner:
image: ghcr.io/laxxx-lab/lx-family-planner:latest
ports:
- "3001:3001"
environment:
- APP_SECRET=<32+ random chars, keep stable across updates>
- REGISTRATION_MODE=first-family
volumes:
- ./data:/app/data
- ./backups:/app/backups
restart: unless-stopped
I'd love feedback — especially from anyone running a family setup on a homeserver. What's missing for your use case?
Thanks for checking it out! 🙌
Question about photo album sharing
Hello all,
I am not owning a ugreen (currently on synology) but thinking about switching. I have a specific ask and cant find a direct answer for this. would be great if someone could help out.
In the photo app, once I share images in an album with another person; can that person then (if enabled; access allowed etc.) then delete, edit, or even copy this specific picture further to their location, their own album etc.?
on synology this is not possible. Immich makes it somewhat possible, but only with partnersharing (so basically sharing all your pictures).
I am looking for this specific option where "both" or multiple users become kind of the "owner" of a picture and can do what the real owner would do.
Thanks a lot!!
Frigate on N100 NAS issues
Ugreen DXP2800, 16 GB Ram, using M2 NVME drives for frigate. Spent the better part of 2 days with Gemini trying to get this to work with iGPU support, ended up having to go back to a basic setup with one Lorex IP camera because everything we tried just crashed Frigate. CPU useage high. I eventually want to add 3 more cameras. AI suggested a Coral TPU USB thing. But I saw in Frigate documentation the Coral TPU is no longer recommended.
What are my options? Or is my plan not achievable?
Ugreen revodok maxidok
Did anyone has this same problem as me. Bought it brand new sealed, then the blue light as it indicated connecting to a pc or laptop always on even not connect to anything. Now, it’s becoming a 500 cad brick. Any solution for this, as I had contacted their customer service, but they asked me pay to repair this dock☹️.
