Hi everyone!
I’ve come across this Universal Genève Polerouter Jet and I absolutely love it. I’m not an expert on vintage UG, so I’d really appreciate some opinions before making an offer.
As far as I can tell, it’s a Polerouter Jet, probably ref. 40355 (not 100% sure about the exact suffix). It has the Microtor automatic movement and what looks like a really nice original silver dial with the concentric pattern.
The condition is what really caught my attention. The case, dial and markers look exceptionally clean for its age, and I haven’t been able to find another one with quite the same look.
One thing I’m trying to figure out is the case. The outside is gold-coloured, while the inside of the caseback is stamped “SWISS / ACIER INOXYDABLE”. I’ve seen other 40355s with gold-plated cases and steel casebacks, so I’m wondering if this combination is correct for this reference.
The seller is asking around €1,450.
Do you think this is a good example of a Polerouter Jet? Does anything look wrong or suspicious to you? And is the asking price reasonable considering the condition?
I’m mainly interested because I think it’s a beautiful and unusual watch, but obviously I’d like to make sure I’m not buying something with incorrect parts.
