C-3PO voice pack for Dreame

Finally flashed Valetudo and I immediately built a C-3PO voice pack.

The process was:

  1. Reverse-engineer existing voice pack using speech-to-text
  2. Have Claude rewrite all of the text to how C-3PO talks
  3. Create a "C-3PO" voice using elevenlabs
  4. Generate a whole bunch of audio using that voice and the elevenlabs API
  5. Package it all up like the original

The process is now super dialed. Future voice packs should be much easier to build if anyone has some requests for the extra API credits I got for the $6/1 month elevenlabs subscription with tons of credits left...

"I Don't Have Anything to Hide", Said the Dude Photographed on the Toilet

There an article talking about privacy, and how to hack a Dreame vacuum cleaner (also why the unofficial community is important xD).

TLDR: Your smart home devices are photographing, recording, and selling you. Not hypothetically — Roomba leaked toilet photos, Ecovacs got hacked from a park bench, Vizio was fined for scanning screens 500 times a second, and 30,000 Amazon employees could listen to your Alexa recordings. "Nothing to hide" isn't the point — you close the window before getting dressed. I hacked my vacuum robot with Valetudo, a breakout PCB, and a Debian live USB. Same robot, same features, zero data leaving my house. Tutorial at the end.

Dreame X40 Ultra keeps dropping mop pads

This is driving me nuts. For the past 6 months the robot has become progressively worse and worse. I've tried so many things, no difference.

So.. The behavior is that if i try to start a vacuuming run, it drops the mop pads in the docking, moves out of the docking and complains that the mop pads are not there. (even though they are not supposed to join in on the ride.) It used to be that i could turn the robot over, re-seat the pads, put it back down and press resume. This would initiate a positioning process, then it would just resume from where it was. With the latest version of Valetudo, it now no longer does that. Instead, after the positioning, it goes back to the docking, drops the pads, leaves the docking and starts complaining again. Regardless of what i try, this is as far as i can get. in other words, it's become completely useless.

Is anyone familiar with this problem, and have found a solution?

I have tried the following things:
- Rebooting, of course. that is the first thing i tried. It's the fallback between all the various test scenarios below.
- Downgrading Valetudo to an older version where it used to work. - made no difference
- Going through all settings and quirks related to mop pads and set them to all the possible variants of settings. Naturally, the quirk "Detach Mops" is set to "off", but it seems to totally ignore that setting. - made no difference in behavior, at all, and on any of the firmware editions.
- buying new pad holders (because gf found a thread on Facebook where someone had successfully fixed it that way) - no difference.
- Cleaning the mop holders, the mop receptacles, water nozzles and anything related to them accessible from the outside. - made no difference.

If it could at least be able to vacuum, i could get _some_ use out of it, but as it stands it's just taking up space and using power.. (+ annoying me for not working)
