St John

For $1 took the bus from Cruz Bay ferry dock across Centerline Road to Coral Bay, continuing toward Salt Pond Bay. What a way to see the splendor of St John.

I am visiting for the first time. What island do I stay on?

I am planning to visit the USVI's with my gf. What I've read so far, is to stay somewhere on St. John's. What is a good area to stay in? Where can I find good and "cheaper" hotels? Is Airbnb a good option? Where do I look? Recommendations?

6 nights split Or 5 nights on 1 island.

Me and my wife are planning for 1st time ever visit. Would it be better split 6 nights (3 and 3) between St Thomas and St John or stay 5 nights on 1 island?

We’re sticking with our Marriott loyalty (Due to points and free night award) for the lodging but open to ideas. Also, is rental car a must? Or can this be achieved with e bike just to get around.

Thanks in advance!

Moving as a single late 20s female

Looking at great job in natural resources with the Virgin Islands national park. I live in a small city in the mountains right now and am looking to make a move! I love nature and the outdoors but also rely on community and having friend circles. Curious if y’all would recommend me making the move - thanks!

EDIT: comments are all extremely helpful. I have lived off the grid before and am not too worried about that aspect, but all great to know these things. Thank you!!!!! I’m still curious about what the people are like and if there are young adults. Thanks!

Recommendations for inexpensive shipping to St Thomas

I have multiple boxes of donated medical supplies (none heavy, but not small either) that I’m trying to ship down to St. Thomas. I live near Seattle, WA.

I checked standard USPS quotes for shipping and the costs ($260+) per box are more than the supplies are actually worth. Note: I don’t care if the shipment takes a few weeks to get there.

I’ve attempted to use AI tools (Claude, Gemini) to assist on this and, while they are helpful, they only go so far. It seems the top recommendation is to use Less Than Truckload shipping from my location to a Crowley or Tropical Shipping port in Miami or similar, then coordinate with them to ship everything down. (I have folks down in St. Thomas that can clear customs and take delivery.) I‘ve used Tropical to ship years ago, but I was present myself at one of their locations in Florida to organize everything.

Anyone have advice on this?

First time visitor general questions about Bovoni

Hello good evening, I will be visiting St. Thomas with my best friend who is originally from the USVI (I am originally from west michigan ⛄️ ) and has family in Bovoni that he would like to visit. He lived in Bovoni before moving state side. I will be going with him to Bovoni to visit family. How does the vibe of the Bovoni area change between daylight hours and nighttime? how is the vibe in general? Also How reliable or fast is the police and medical response time to the Bovoni area? He is hemiplegic and is in good health but needs some assistance walking that i help him with. I just want to make sure I have all my bases covered if a medical emergency where to happen I would know what to do and what to expect as far as medical response time.

he looks forward being back home for a visit and I look forward to visiting your beautiful island. TIA.
