Question to Vivo X300 (Base) users

Hello comm, I am planning to buy a vivo X300 next month.

From several reviewers I've watched and some comments on here I've seen that X300 series have a problem with camera colors that sometimes it looks too "unnatrual", has this been fixed?

Also, I am switching from Xiaomi 14T and rn it's horrible battery wise, can I have for example 6-7 hours of battery life continous LTE + GPS + Komoot for a total of 3 hours then rest on wifi? with my 14t my phone usually dies around 4h with that usage...

and how is at home/wifi battery life? can i easily get 10h just using yt, anki and offline video playback at home?

also one last question, does it overheat during gaming? i ocassionally play bandori/pjsk but havent been much into it since i got a gaming laptop but still..

Also i'd like to see Screen on Time from base x300 too, if possible please post that as well.

and Thank You.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE 80MB JULY UPDATE

The network has gotten considerably worse - normal phone calls from my room (9th floor in a low network area) now does normal calls instead of VoNR - CONSIDERABLY LOWER QUALITY.

Also, WhatsApp call quality while driving on my usual route has dipped significantly - with constant lags.

I have started regretting upgrading to a Chinese manufacturer.

What would you like to see improved or added in Origin OS 7?

After using my vivo X300 with Origin OS 6 for a few months, here are some stuff that I would like to see in their next Origin OS update:

  • Ability to use third-party icon packs with the vivo launcher;
  • More options for grid layout;
  • More folder size options, 2, 4, 6, etc;
  • Option to rename apps;
  • Choose to show the icon name separately for each folder and icon, not just a general setting;
  • Add at least one more app icon option for the taskbar (to have a total of 6 icons);
  • Improve Origin Island;
  • UI color for icons to work for all icons;
  • More control over performance (light mode, clock control);
  • Performance optimizations;
  • General UI consistency & polish;

What else would you add?

vivo X300 + G2 Ultra 400mm Teleconverter

I know it's officially not supported, but I saw another video with the X300s where it worked, which has the same camera setup, and it's also not officially supported. So I was curious if it would work with the regular X300. Btw, see the compatibility list here.

Of course, it doesn't have software support, so when you turn on the teleconverter option, it just shows 200mm as with the other teleconverter. Stabilization also doesn't seem to work, and sometimes the focus has issues, but overall it works decently. Best used with a tripod. I added some sample shots in the post for reference.

Maybe there is a chance that vivo will make the proper software updates for the stabilization to work, making it officially compatible.

Regarding size, it's a bit larger than the original first-gen 200 mm teleconverter; see them side by side in the pictures attached to the post.

-

The adapter ring still annoys me, as it doesn't have cutouts for all cameras. One of their worst designs ever. I recently tested the X300s ring, as it has the same camera layout, but it's designed on purpose not to fit. See the post here.

Also, I still can't seem to find any place that sells just the adapter ring for the X300, so if it will eventually break from constantly taking on and off (it already moves a bit), it will be required to buy a new photography kit...

-

I bought it from TradingShenzhen, and it came with the X300 Ultra Photography Case, which I clearly don't need. But it was the only way to buy the 400mm teleconverter.

So if anyone wants the Photography Case for the X300 Ultra, I put it up on sale on Vinted https://www.vinted.com/items/9310983149-vivo-x300-ultra-photography-kit-case

Shot On X300 Ultra

Been using the X300 Ultra for a while and I'm loving the camera. All three lenses are great, but the telephoto is definitely the standout for me. Colors look fantastic, and the Album app has surprisingly good editing tools. Sharing a few shots I took.

x300ultra EU - desktop mode not working

I bought an X300 Ultra Global version in Europe (a €2000 phone) switching from an S23 Ultra to get a better chip, a better camera system, and more memory for my travels.

To my great surprise, after at least 5 hours of trying, I found out that on the Global version the “desktop mode” feature does not work, even though it apparently works for another user here.

I tried everything: different launchers, developer settings, and in the end it either mirrors the phone screen when desktop mode is not enabled, or it still always asks for mirroring anyway.

I’ve had a completely white screen, a more or less correct-looking screen with different launchers, but the mouse always stays on the phone screen, which means it is still mirroring.

We are already more than 6 months after the launch of Android Desktop Mode. I have one of the most expensive flagship phones in my hands; Samsung and others are already far ahead. I’m really wondering when Vivo will fix these things and allow us to unlock the full potential of this phone.

If anyone has managed to get it working, I would kindly ask you to let me know :)

Should I replace my Samsung s24 ultra with the base (global) x300

Hi,

I currently have a Samsung s24 ultra and am considering replacing it with a base x300. I am looking for something more compact, but would welcome peoples thoughts on if this change would be much of an upgrade. Camera and battery is important to me (as is a compact size). The only reason I am thinking of changing is due to the size of the s24 ultra (which is a bit too big). Aside from the size I am happy with the s24u.

Is the phone reliable and likely to last a good 4/5 years. That is how long I generally keep phones for. Also want something reliable and not buggy. I am in the UK so looking at the global version, to get the bigger battery.

Has anyone made the switch that could share their views and opinions.

Many Thanks for any comments and advice.

vivo X300s ring adapter NOT compatible with X300

I know many other people have been wondering about this, as the regular vivo X300 ring adapter is their worst ever design!

I've found a single seller that sold this, so I tested it. And very sad to report that IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE.

The ring diameter is basically almost identical, and the camera layout and cutout seem to be the same too.

As you can see in the pics, it would fit just fine, like the original one. But sadly, it's designed on purpose not to fit!

So thanks vivo very much for designing the worst ring adapter for the base X300! As you can see, the cutouts would work the same for this size too, which is clearly shown on the X300s. But Vivo thinks it's great to force the users to take off the ring every time they want to use the other two cameras.

And they also don't sell replacement rings for the X300 separately. So if yours breaks from constantly taking on and off (which it does for many users), you will need to buy another photography kit to have the ring.

I looked everywhere and messaged dozens of AliExpress sellers to ask if they sell the ring for the base X300 separately, and it's the only model that no one has. The last resort was to get some extra ones, and try to drill the other two camera holes myself... but sadly can't find anywhere to buy them...

Another barbaric option would be to just glue the X300s ring into the X300 photography case, not sure though how well that would hold up, I don't want to risk dropping my teleconverter.

PS: If someone from Europe wants the ring adapter for the vivo X300s, I put it up on sale on Vinted: https://www.vinted.com/items/9279952161-vivo-x300s-ring-adapter

Feature Request: Pro Photo Mode Presets for the Vivo X300 Ultra.

I've been really impressed with

the camera on the Vivo X300

Ultra, but I feel it's missing one crucial feature: the ability to save custom Pro Mode presets.

It would be fantastic to be able to save different configurations like specific ISO, shutter speed, and white balance settings, and switch between them instantly, much like how Xiaomi does it on their flagship models.

This would save so much time

and make the camera vastly

more versatile for different

shooting scenarios.

Regards,

Bill

Has Vivo acknowledged the battery drain issues in X300 lineup after recent updates?

It's now a well known issue that Vivo X300 users are facing increased battery drain issues, especially since the March and May updates across the entire lineup (base, pro, ultra).

Has Vivo acknowledged this issue? Have they even released a statement regarding this?

Should we all start a campaign on Twitter/X? What say?

Upgrade from x100 pro?

Is the x300 base variant an upgrade from the x100 pro?

I want to change because the x100 pro is at the end of its update cycle next year and the trade in value is decent now but will certainly crash next year.

I am hesitating to change because the cameras in the x100 pro, particularly for portraits is just fabulous and I don't want to miss out on the camera physics and 1-inch sensor.

Any battery improvements after this update?

My battery life got severely affected after the March update. If anyone were also experiencing battery issues, did this update fix it? I want to know before installing it.
