We're doing photo walks across the world this August, come hang out!

Hi everyone, We've got photo walks and meetups going on in a bunch of cities from now through the end of August, and you could go!

It's a simple idea: bring your camera, meet some other photographers, make some new work, and just say hi. No agenda beyond that.

Here's where we're showing up:

  • Atlanta, GA — Aug 22
  • Fort Lauderdale, FL — Aug 22
  • Toronto, Canada — Aug 23
  • Gurugram, India — Aug 23
  • Stockholm, Sweden — Aug 25
  • San Francisco, CA — Aug 27
  • Chicago, IL — Aug 29

If any of these are near you, RSVP here: https://vsco.co/vsco/journal/come-together-august-events-2

We just had one in Morro Bay that I was able to go to with photographers Jake Tovar and Jonathan Foster and it was so much fun. I posted some photos from it on my VSCO, and I’ve just got to highlight the video Michael Carlos made there too. There’s always such amazing people at these things, so I’d highly recommend going to one if you’re able!

Where should we head next?

Why AI?

Probably going to get hot flack for this but why does VSCO have AI especially prompt AI? I thought this was a photo app for real photography and pictures taken by real human beings? I know some people edit their photos to a certain degree but they really added prompt AI to it? Extremely disappointing. I’m going to look for something else because I’m in no way shape or form going to support this, recommendations are welcome.

VSCO Galleries now in Sites

Hi everyone, I want to call out a pretty significant update to VSCO Sites that went live recently with the integration of VSCO Galleries into Sites. All users, from the free Starter tier and up, can now use the free VSCO Galleries iOS App or VSCO Galleries for MacOS  and connect their Galleries directly to their VSCO Site.

Here’s how: build your galleries in the Galleries app, be sure they’re set to be public, select “Add Galleries” from the sites builder, and select the galleries you want to add.

  • Title and cover images you set in the Galleries app will carry over to the Site.
  • Changes you make to the galleries in the app will automatically reflect on your site.

Also, if you weren’t aware, Sites has gotten some other meaningful upgrades since launch:

  • Custom domain support (Pro + One)
  • Contact form with VSCO Workspace integration
  • Add VSCO post or upload images directly to Selects

Personally, these updates were the changes I needed to finally move my personal website over. I did it last week and it was super easy! Not trying to advertise my photography at all, but you can see what a VSCO Site with Galleries looks like here: zachhodges.com

I think it’d be really cool to see people’s sites here, so if you make one please share it! And let us know how it goes for you too, there’s always room for improvement and we’ve got more in store for Sites.

Open call: 50 photographers, 50 states, 50 billboards

Hi everyone, we’re doing something pretty cool that I think many of you would want to be a part of.

It's called The Fifty. We're selecting fifty photographers, one from every state, to have their work on billboards across the country. The idea is pretty simple: photographers are building careers in every corner of the country, and you can make it right where you are.

We believe this to our core, and we want to celebrate photographers in a tangible, massive way, with billboards right where they are.

How to submit: post 3 to 5 images to VSCO with #TheFifty plus your state tag, so #TheFiftyOH if you're in Ohio. Add a short caption about the image or series, and put your state in your bio. Free to submit, open to photographers 18+ living in the US.

Our curation team will review submissions, make editorial selections, and notify selected photographers on a rolling basis. If your work is selected, we license it and you're paid for it. You'll also be asked for a high-res file suitable for large-format printing and any associated approvals as needed.

For more details, see the full blog post

u/superamazingphotos this is your moment haha. A lot of you have posted great work here and on VSCO, so let's get some of it up on a billboard!

The Feeling We Cannot Name

Loneliness is not merely the absence of other presences around us. From a phenomenological perspective, it constitutes a subjective experience of existence itself.

It is important to consider that human beings are born, develop, and acquire consciousness essentially within a collective context. Existence is already constituted through interpersonal relationships (HEIDEGGER, Martin, 1927). Therefore, understanding the object of study requires interpreting it through other forms of manifestation, whether visual, metaphorical, or otherwise.

Isolation as a concrete condition: it can be understood as a form of “separation” from the environment and from social and spatial contexts.

A person in an isolated room is objectively isolated. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are experiencing loneliness. They may be at peace, meditating, or simply enjoying their own presence. But who determines or produces this interpretation?

Human existence is not simply a matter of being situated in a world of objects: we are in the world, engaged with it, attributing meanings to things and experiencing our own possibilities. Yet, not everything can be understood.

What is photography—as a producer of meaning—in relation to the experience of being before the world and feeling something that we are unable to explain?

For this reason, I would like to invite you to participate in this collective work and to share a photograph that represents the discussion I propose, with the aim of understanding and investigating this question. The objective of this research is to analyze these contributions and, in the future, develop an academic article presenting and discussing its findings.

Grain Effect Corrupted

I’ve noticed recently that the grain effect is no longer rendering properly. It now renders like a criss-cross thatched texture instead of actual grain.

I’ve attached two photos - both with the same strength of grain. One was edited a while back, the other edited today. I’ve been seeing this issue for a few weeks now.

Does anyone know what the issue could be?

I am on the iOS27 public beta — could that be it?

Would appreciate any help!
