E. coli from waking life
Not sure if anyone else had this experience but the next day, after leaving waking life (having had a beautiful time) I began to feel really unwell: exhausted, extremely painful cramps, diarrhoea. It progressively got worse, turning into a fever, and worse, so I booked an appointment with the doctor who took samples to test and gave me some medication. A few days later, the results revealed I had Shigellosis caused by E. coli bacteria 🙃
For reference, I couldn’t think of anything that I would have done (being pretty germ conscious) to contract this, other than swimming in the lake. This theory was compounded when my friend’s colleagues (who also went to the festival) met a group of girls who were, apparently, regularly shitting in the lake !! Absolutely foul, not least because people swim in there, but it’s also devastating for the wildlife too. While waking life was great, this has reeeally disgusted me!!! Was anyone else also very sick???
