Should I replace the strap?

Just got a used GX, filled it up, and started rowing for the first time.

But the strap jumps off the last pulley with basically every single stroke.

The video shows the process in slow motion.

Looking at the video and inspecting the strap, I think the problem is that the strap is slightly warped such that one side of it is more stretched than the other, which causes it to constantly walk its way off the side of the pulley.

But I thought I’d ask here before I go and buy a new one.

So what do y’all think? Do I just need to replace the strap, or is it something else?

Waterrower mat

I bought a supposedly original Waterrower mat from a local website in Spain because the foam puzzle mat I was using (similar to those used for babies and kids) would slip when I rowed hard.

However, the mat I received does not have a logo, label, or anything similar.

Is it authentic?

Maybe it has the same effect. I don't want to pay for an original and receive a generic one.

I can still return it.

I am attaching some photos.

Gamification

Some rowers in my household need gamification to enjoy their workouts. Before i make the purchase is the best current way a Waterrower Original (with no accessories) --> Smartrow -> EXR - and then use either a laptop or appletv (exr app) connected to a tv/monitor (which thankfully i can mount in a dedicated spot specifically for the rower placement)?

Any complications i should be aware of with this setup, or alternatives that should be considered?

Cherry WR Rescued with only 63K!

Another WaterRower rescue complete! This cherry model was hardly used! Only 63k?!? It wasn’t leaking, but I re-epoxied the tank for good measure, wiped off the cobwebs, and installed new set of RowStraps! Time to find it a new home!

Free rowing app - waterline

Hey all,

I have been using a waterrower for several years myself now, and recently decided to create a android rowing app called Waterline. It enables you to row offline solo (with a coach that tries to maintain a set pace) or online. Fully tested with waterrower & strava integration works (I am currently capped to 10 users but will upgrade when I can).

I intend to keep the app fully free, unless server costs for the online becomes a bit hard to justify (I will then try to solve that with patreon or brand sponsors first - I don't aim to profit). I hope that makes it OK to post here.

The app is available for free on the below link, hope to see some of you during a rowing session!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=waterline.app

Update: thanks a lot for the positive feedback and ideas to further improve the app! I aim to release an update by end of month with several improvements that I hope a lot of you will like 🙂
