My 501c3 mental health non-profit uses the things we love in pop culture as a way to reach people who may not be getting the help they need.
On August 22nd, we are hosting Even Superheroes Face Addiction, a free, secular, support group for newcomers as well as people who have already begun their journey to sobriety.
And yes...we'll be joined by an actual superhero! Actress Yancy Butler got the gig of a lifetime, playing the title character in the TNT series Witchblade. The show was a hit, but Butler's alcohol addiction was spiraling out of control and it became impossible for the show to continue filming. Yancy will be joining us to share her story of addiction and recovery, and we'll have local experts on hand to help guide you towards ongoing care.
To make things even more laid back...we are holding the event in a toy store! Toy Lair (an AWESOME retro toy store) is letting us use their space in the game room for the event! No indoctrination or criticism will happen at this event...come as you are and lets chat!
