Technical Issue: Cannot Search Photos by Caption
Hey guys!
I have had a problem with my phone for about a week now, and I was wondering if anyone here knows what might fix it. Here's a rundown of the problem:
My iPhone ran out of storage space. When this happened, all photos from 2023-present with captions stopped coming up in the image search. They still come up in the search on my iPad, but my phone just can't find them anymore, forcing me to manually scroll through thousands of photos if I don't have my iPad on hand. It's worked just fine for years until the storage issues. The iPhone photos app has also been stuck on "Restoring from iCloud" for this entire time, but I've seen nothing change, and all images appear to be downloaded correctly.
What I have tried:
Removing 10GB of apps, photos and videos.
Turning my iPhone off and on again.
Re-adding captions on phone.
Altering captions from iPad and checking on phone.
Leaving my iPhone plugged in overnight.
Clearing out "Recently Deleted" images and videos.
Turning iMessage off and on again because something suggested it.
None of these have worked. I can, however, add captions to new images, and they come up in the search just fine. It's just some from a certain timeframe that won't.
Some extra information in case it's relevant:
My iPhone is an SE and on version 15.5. I can update as a last resort, but I've been hearing about later versions having more issues with Photos, so I'm hesitant on account of this issue only appearing when I ran out of storage space, so I doubt it's related to my IOS version. I'd prefer to look into other solutions first, if there are any.
