I feel like the Ice Caves are kind of disapointing / filled with strange descissions
To get this out of the way first, I don't have an issue with the amount of content here, just how its handled. To get straight ton the point:
- Generation,
The new Beta preview shows that the Ice Caves seem to be a "Can" instead of a "Will". A MASSIVE miss in my opinion. What could make cave biomes like this cool is if they would populate the underground under matching biomes. But it just seems like it can be anywhere, primarely underneath cold biomes, yes, but its not a guarantee and not the entire underground of Cold biomes will be iced. Im really sad about this. I imagine there will be more cave biomes coming in the future so having them modify the caves beneath each big biome type would be so much cooler than what we seem to be getting now.
- Lava
I know they even talked about this in the LIVE but come on. Lava beeing able to be this present or even present at all is a huge miss in my opinion. It looks bad, it clashes with each other and it destroys any kind of athmosphere or immersion there couldve been. I'd much prefer all lava generated here to be obsidian or some kind of new frozen magma block.
Besides those 2 main thorns in my eye, im really excited for this update! What is your opinions on the caves and what would you like to see changed? I personally am a huge fan the spikes can finally fall! This was something that dripstone was originaly supposed to do and it never did, kind of destroying the biome in my opinion. Curious to hear more opinions on this biome. Please be civil ;-;
