Multi-color Printing Waste (poop!)
Okay - I have been 3D printing since you had to make your own printer. But, I just had an epiphany...
The amount of filament wasted during a multi-color print IS excessive, often weighing more than the finished print. BUT... the amount of waste is EXACTLY THE SAME if you're printing one object or a plate full!
That's right...
If you're freaked out about how wasteful an AMS/ACE (etc., etc.) is - consider printing several of the same object and take advantage of the single purge per color change/layer - regardless of the number of objects being printed.
Suddenly, the waste isn't so excessive!
(I may be late to realizing this...)
I often print using a resin printer as well. The print time on these depends ONLY on the height of the tallest object on the plate, so you can fill up the plate with as many objects that will fit and the total print time doesn't change at all.
